  • LOL, Steve Nuno....what a buffoon!

  • The coach was ANNOYING!!!!

  • I remember this moment... so thrilling to see her stick 2 when everything was on the line. Even though she took silver, she did absolutely everything she could and left nothing on the table so that's a feat in itself.

  • Did she win the gold for vault this olympics?. Can't seem to remember. I do remember though that olympics, everyone kept talking about Kim Zemeskal and practially ignored Shannon Miller, until she showed everyone what she could do. plus they kept replaying Kim Zemeskal messing up over & over, I felt bad for her. But at least people finally gave Shannon credit for how good she was. LOL, but her coach always remined me of a used car salesman!

  • @cj222100 No. Shannon had a good full-twisting Yurchenko, but not fabulous. She had great style and technique but she was never a very powerful gymnast, and vault was always her weakest event. She was just never in the rafters like some other athletes, but what she could do she did very well. Lavinia Milosovici and Henrietta Onodi tied for gold on vault in 1992.

  • @triplefull368 Which one of the events was considered to be her strongest?

  • @cj222100 Balance beam: she won gold on beam in 1996 and silver in 1992. Uneven bars would be a close second.

  • @triplefull368 her bars were underscored IMO in 1996

  • I wish the coach's voice could be muted out somehow :)

  • Coach cost .025

  • @TallRingo: Hahah, I totally agree. If that first vault didn't deserve a 10, nothing does. It must have been the annoying coach! I wouldn't blame them honestly... it's a shame he didn't get the message and shut up!

  • shannon was robbed the AA gold in Barcelona

  • @LaotianLover Especially since Shannon actually qualified for the Olympic AA final...

  • I think at this point in time many of the judges were still swayed in their judging towards the European gymnasts. It's unfortunate, especially since Shannon's vaults were so much cleaner and spot on than Gutsu's. It should have been her gold~!!

  • May be the judges were frightened by her coach reaction

  • Shannon Miller Deserved the Gold I don't Understand Why She didn't get the Gold in 1992 Those Judges should Look back on those Clips and Shannon Should Be given a Gold at the Games in London.......

  • Shannon should have easily taken the gold. She and Gutsu had minor mistakes throughout the competition. Both had balance checks on Beam and both had extra steps on one tumbling pass on floor. I thought Gutu's Bar was a better but this vault? Come on! This was flawless, literally flawless. Gutsu did the same vault and stepped on hers and Miller was just flawless. She deserved the gold! This vault deserved a 10.

  • Talk about nailing the shit out of it!!!!!

  • Another Mary Lou Retton Vault! :)

  • real gold medalist in our dream, but real silver medalist in our reality

  • What's with the coach? He sounds like a dying calf. ERRRRRRRRRRRRR... ERRRRRRRRRRRR, BLBLEEHBLE ERRRRRRRRRRRR.

  • PERRRFECT!

  • HOW DID THIS NOT GET A 10? this is as perfect as it gets!!! and steve nunno in the background with his usual annoying yelling is just like, SHUT UP!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I think at that time the judges were still very much favoring European gymnasts. How can you give Gutsu a 9.950 with such horrid form breaks and not nearly as clean and perfect as Miller's vault. Wish there was a way to go back and give her her well deserved gold.

  • she's so cute here.....the judge who didn't give her a 10 must have been blind

  • I think if Shannon had the reputation of Zmeskal, she probably would've received at 10

  • Shannon was cheated out of gold

  • That was Bella who yelled You go now and yet you say Steve was pushy lol

  • Steve Nunno was definitely the most obnoxious coach ever. I'm pretty sure Shannon was old enough and smart enough to decide for herself when and how she wanted to wave to the crowd.

  • Man I remember watching this and not believing that she didn't get a 10. So perfect. She was always so poised and disciplined and that big smile she allowed herself before her second vault was beautiful. I remember being so heartbroken that she got 2nd after this.

  • waw

  • Shannon deserved that gold more than gutsu.

  • Steve Nunno is beyond ridiculous here. I know he is excited and cares about Shannon, but let's have some decorum and act like a grown up for goodness sake.

  • The single most perfect vault i have ever seen.

  • Honestly I believe that Steve's obnoxious outburst was the cause for the score not being a 10. Agree / Disagree?

  • the landing (as shannon did so often) is the best landing I HAVE EVER seen! if she had landed her floor routine i had been as flawless as this... then she was have beat gustu!

  • 1:51 secs - Nunno practically throws Shannon at Peggy!!!

  • Well, the vaults were excellent but they were not perfect. One small flaw - the massive pike down. Even her coach saw it - listen to him "next one keep straight all the way". There in lies why she didn't get the 10...

  • @eamoblue I wouldn't call that a massive pike down. They were good in terms of body line. I think if anything, she might have been deducted for some lack of power or "pop" off the horse. I really think if she had done the first vault 2nd , the score would have gone up and she would have gotten the 10.

  • @indiatree Okay I will give you that it wasn't massive but it was there and so much so her coach commented on it. I think it was definitely worth 9.975 but it is not perfect. If her coach didn't think so there is no chance a judge is going to.

  • I can't stop watching - and I can't see a flaw anywhere in that first vault.

  • @jojo1802 i am agree this first vault is really perfect !!! she deserved to win

  • @raar8 Um no Nastia is not a "Russian Disquese" she lived there when she was 3! Everything she's done and learned was here in the US!

  • That was beautiful! :)

  • Shannon the best US gymmnast of all times!!! Nastia is a russian disguise US athlete sorry...

  • Brilliant! Those should've been 10s!

  • that is the koolist think i have ever seen

  • Do you have NBC's whole coverage of the all-around?

  • how did she not get a 10 the first time????

  • holy crap! now THAT is a stick!

  • @kuddygymnast12 no she landed straight up on her first vault

  • Had she been given a 10 she would have won the gold. Damn those judges. That vault merited a 10.0! an 11.0 even!

  • i've just watched tatiana gutsu's vault and yes looking at shannons vault she should of won the all-around i mean she definatly prooved that when she won back to back all-around titles at the 93-94 worlds

  • @kuddygymnast12 you have to bend your knees on the landing or else you can hurt your knees

  • Robbed. Utterly Robbed. That will go down as the greatest vault in the history of gymnastics.

  • @kuddygymnast12 you can bend your knees a bit when you land and still get a 10

  • Even if she didnt deserve the gold medal, she deserve a 10 on both of these vaults. there is not one imperfection in either of these. ESPECIALLY if you compare them to Gutsu's and their scores.

  • I love how after she waved to the crowd and Steve got her down, she's just trying to walk somewhere with his arms around her, and then he slings her back toward Peggy, and she just goes wherever the force takes her. This vault was the high point of her entire career. I don't think she was ever better than at this moment.

  • The true gold medalist.

  • You can't be serious. I won't even respond.

  • @keishaloveschelsea I was serious. I didn't know at the time.

  • So, not getting a ten on that first vault cost her the gold??

  • @jojo1802 Yes it did

  • All opinions about who should have won the gold aside, Shannon's first vault here was as good a vault as ever been done. I wish you people would stop arguing. Personally I would have given Shannon the gold. Mainly because she was so cute at fifteen.

  • @GymFloozie actually, she was 14 :)

  • @kiwigymnast16 no she was 15 she turned 15 in march and this was in july or whatever

  • Perfection! Whatever any of you may have to say about her other performances that night, you can't deny the beauty of those vaults. The first vault is almost unreal!

  • and Miller did not deserve to win the AA here either. Her beam score compared to Gutsu was a joke. Gutsu had a much better beam routine and got a lower score. A 9.9 for Miller on floor with mediocre tumbling, boring presentation, and a big step back on the middle pass was always clearly too high. Yeah she deserved a 10 on vault but she did not deserve her beam and floor scores or the AA gold at all.

  • @ants2876 her goodwill games gold on floor was not wrong dina can't land a front tumbling pass without practically falling on her face, and her 96 national title hahahahaha you have got to be joking 2 perfect vaults a spectacular floor routine that had more difficulty then phelps and a perfect bar set? Her fall on beam didn't even phase her. Gogean has no personality or at least she doesn't show it threw her gymnastics milo and dina are jokes and pascal and suk were to inconsistent

  • @ants2876 your whining as well about everything about "who should of.." Please it was like 18 years ago get over it...

  • @moopoo66 no sorry luvcookie/maxy9974/milerowns and your 20 ids you and other lunatic Miller fanatics are the only ones whining 18 years later that she didnt win. you are the freaks who need to get over it but never will. The rest of us are fine with the results and couldnt care less, and are simply mocking desperate Miller fanatics like yourself who create 20 Ids to say the same things over and over.

  • @ants2876 what are you talking about? This is my only youtube account! And im not whining that's what your doing. Your are the biggest whiner on youtube! on almost every page.. get over yourself you turn the smallest comment into a crisis all the time... god, i didn't say a thing wrong!

  • @moopoo66 Yeah very funny. Once Millerowns dissapears we have maxy7794, then luvcookie, now luvcookie is gone and we have moopoo. The same horroendous spelling and non existent command of the English language. You arent fooling anyone you loser obsessed Miller freak.

  • @ants2876 actually I'm telling the truth i only have one account, im not millerowns and im not maxy7794. You just can't go on a commenting page without a fight can you? Your so fricken annoying. And will you stop trying to make ME look bad, whats your problem finds some friends and get off youtube will you?

  • It is hilarious to see the Miller fanatics still whining she didnt win the AA. Miller is in fact one of the most overscored gymnasts in history and has won many titles and medals she didnt deserve. Undeserved titles or medals for Miller:

93 World AA title- Gogean was robbed

94 World AA title- Dina or Milo should have won

92 floor EF bronze- what a joke here

92 bars EF bronze- Pascal and Suk were robbed

94 Goodwill EF floor gold- this was crazy

96 Nationals AA gold- Phelps was robbed

  • @ants2876 oh shut the fuck up i am so sick of you people you think your experts and commentary well GUESS WHAT ASSHOLE no one on this commenting page gives a shit about who you thought was robbed because what can you do about it? Take her medals away that she deserved. Gogean in 1993 had all 9.8 start values and to win she needed a 9.812 smartass, dina or milo winning is that a joke? dina sucks and milo is a mess, pascal is a joke and so is suk bad form you are some arrogant asshole

  • @luv4cookie1 you Miller fanatics are sick in the head. You seriously need to see a doctor.

  • should've been a 10... I can't believe the Romanian judge only gave her a 9.900 for the first vault.

  • In these olympics, as well as 1988, a full twisting yerchenko was an extremely popular vault. In fact, 95% of the athletes at this level were performing that same vault. The judges had seen this soooo many times, in had become routine. Many vaults were both over and under scored. It was atleast seen that this was as perfect as the vault could possibly be. Three of the judges posted a 10, and the others posted a 9.95. It should have been a 10 all around, and Gutsu, should not have scored a 9.95!!

  • no the vault was not piked down, i watched her in slow motion, on another video, and her body was perfect the hole way, great extension, pointed toes straight legs together, and no pike whats so ever, this vault acually desereved the ten

  • Yeah, I have to agree Selecious - Miller's position was perfect at every point in the vault. I remember seeing it and thinking that at the time....Replaying it here only confirms that.

  • but her vault was not piked down at all! her position was perfect at every point in the vault no pike.

  • i love miller. but the vault was piked down that was enough to refuse it the 10. i think they would have given it to her but they knew that night that gutsu was to win.

  • no it was never piked, it looked pike down but i saw a diffrent video that showed me a side view of the vault in slow motion and there was no pike what-so- ever. that vault acually deserved a ten.

  • no i am serious i have seen her in slow motion FROM A SIDE VIEW, she had perfect form and held the layed out position the hole time never piked at all! and had perfect form. this vault DID deserve a ten and gutsu held the layed out postion for a mila second and had A HUGE pike down and miller had none

  • Comment removed

  • you are so annoying. can you admit your wrong? shannon NEVER piked. i hate people like you who can never admit they are wrong and they say all these untrue things to save their ass. shannon miller never piked get over it. and there is a video of her, with NO pike 1992 olympics AA part 8. please stop being annoying and please admit your wrong and stop trying to be a smartass i hate it!

  • Comment removed

  • i am not a child! and i dont think she is a god! you are just some lonley creep with no better to do then dessagree with me, and you wont admit your wrong! there was no pike at all! get over it! you are in denial if you think she piked. and i am a huge miller fan as well, and i comment baised on her preformances i know she made mistakes of course who doesnt? but i wish you would stop commenting me like YOUR some type of godess who is smarter and more educated then me!

  • I still do not understand how that first vault did not get a 10. I think I must have watched this a billion times and I still do not see anything wrong with it.

  • There was nothing wrong with the vault. There was something wrong with the judges.

  • @nacchi13 Thanks for writing exactly my thoughts and point of view! You made me save a lot of time! :-D

  • @nacchi13 I couldn't agree more!

  • @nacchi13 They couldn't giver her a ten because they had to leave some room for Gutsu

  • @ccaruso81: The didn't need to leave room for Gutsu; if Gutsu did a perfect vault she also could have gotten a 10. I have to say that when this did not get a 10, I seriously questioned the credibility of gymnastics's judging, and the concern has yet to fade. They should have asked the judges, individually, "What exactly did you deduct for?" That first vault was not only flawless, it had incredible amplitude and style. Might be the best vault I've ever seen, in terms of execution. Amazing.

  • Its one of the moments you always want to watch again and wonder, "Why?" That vault was perfect and they awarded the Russian with form breaks the gold medal. Shannon will always remain golden in my heart! She was cheated the All-Around Gold in this moment.

  • Undoubtedly the best vault in gymnastics history. No form deductions, good amplitude, and of course the incredible landing. The biggest rob of a perfect 10 too.

  • Steve was the biggest Shannon Miller fan on earth. He was the only coach who could handle her, and he did a miracle. I love his genuine reaction to her performances.

  • I know, right? Part of the reason this moment is so memorable is because Steve Nunno's was so excited to see his athlete succeed and he freaking lost his mind on the sidelines. I loved it!

  • I know, this still makes me cry. Both because it was amazing and this is when I remember becoming such a big fan of hers, and also because I was so disappointed the judges didn't give her the 10 she so obviously deserved. Wonderful. I loved how the Romanians were standing at the end of the runway, I presume to intimidate. Take that!

  • 0:40 is very cute and 1:51 is very funny

and her first vault is my favorite gymnastic moment ever

  • I'm with you on that. Vault #1 was the best vault in the history of gymnastics, and no matter how many times I watch it I get inspired all over again. Shannon was the best thing that ever happened to U.S. gymnastics.
