  • Btter question:

i am thinking of buying these,

are they better than the logitech z906?

    or the z-5500???

    Please answer

    thnx

  • @riemerable yeah but don't get any of them, try studio monitors or hi fi speakers with amplifier, unless of course you can get an edifier pair for around 100-150 euros used, the amount of money i got selling them, half the commercial price.

  • Are the subwoofer require a sound card or amplifier to produce more bass? I think it needs to turn the volume high 40+ to hear the bass.

  • @ezry91 nop

  • I've got both the S730 and the Z-5500, or rather should I say "had" the Z-5500. Nuff Said.

On another note, the S730 hooked up to the Creative Titanium HD gives me such an eargasm ^_^.

  • lol youre testing bass when everyone sleeps

  • i think the 5500 got lower bass but the edifier got better sound quality

  • edifier S730 fucks everything :D play Welcome stranger on 40

  • z5500 = WIN xD

  • Hey truebassB

    This sounds really nice! :)

But i have a little question: Will it works good with my Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio? Do you know anything about this? Thx for your time!

    Greets DarkTranquillity20

  • @DarkTranquillity20 Hello. Yeah actually it will be just great. :)

  • is this better than the Logitech z-5500?

  • @Mario08031997 In my opinion yes.

  • @truebassB Did you ever hear the Z5500? Is the bass greater than z5500's?

  • @Dezaber Yes,in my opinion. Tighter and cleaner, doesn't boom and it's more controllable.

  • @Mario08031997 no how to fuck 5.5 against 2.1 are you mad ?

  • @Mario08031997 yeah

  • what do you think about my 2 Kicker L7 :D

  • @DeppmitHelm haven't heard them :D

  • Dear truebassB,

What is the suitable volume to set up without any distortion? [ The master volume, speaker volume, etc. ] I usually plays music with high volume.

  • @ezry91 If i remember right, with subwoofer on +10db,treble and bass to 0db,it distorts after 30,but turn it as loud as you want. :)

  • @truebassB alright thanks again for your fast reply. :)

  • I live in denmark. costed me 200 bucks. but you can't say no to 3 subs 1, and 75 watts speakers :D

  • was there 3 subs in that thing?

  • @shadowmattp Not really, one Woofer and two Passive Radiators.

  • i have the bigbrother (s750 d) ..

    Wiiiild motherfucker

  • @simxslashsimon Lol where did you find the s750?

  • whats that thing at the side thats moving aswell?

  • @WeakSignaI Passive Radiators.

  • @truebassB and they contribute... how?

  • @WeakSignaI There used in sealed cabinet designs.

The drivers are passive, they don't have coils but they are exactly like normal drivers with Xmax,Resonance Frequency, etc.

They are moving from main driver's compression, and except of the cabinet tuning purposes it supposed that they are effective similar to how a dual driver cabinet performs because it moves air,but in my opinion, yes the sound do spreads better in the room with a PR cab instead of a sealed, but those things are just vibrating.

  • Can you tell me please, how i can remove the grill without damage it.. ? Thx. ! and sorry for my bad english.. !

  • @MrExtendedMusic Cover the faceplate with thick fiber and then put a flathead screwdriver on the gap of the grill-housing and carefully take it out.

  • @truebassB Thanks! It works perfectly.. ;-)

  • can you try playing this song

    watch?v=_yXS1ODpaGI

  • how low can this subwoofer hit?

  • @azndung It's fully useable down to 50hz.

  • i can't find these in any store in belgium :( does anyone know a site that ships to belgium?

  • @discoduif Try ebay - amazon,i don't know something locally. :P

  • @truebassB oke thanks but can you please make a bass test with four flours (diplo edit)? i wonder how that sounds on it..

  • @discoduif Ok i will have it in my mind for when i'll have free time :)

  • @truebassB oke thanks man... i subscribed btw

  • @discoduif Thanks :)

  • hay guys

    i got a question

how do you take away the mesh front of the sub?

are there any screws i need to remove?

    thx ^^

  • @NikinHell3 You mean the grill ?

  • @truebassB yeah ;-)

  • @NikinHell3 You can grab a flathead screwdriver, place it on the small gap of the grill-plastic faceplate, and then pull it out with much care.

You can watch a video called "how to remove z-5500 grill" to see how the grill can be removed,it's the same thing but it requires much less force:

  • I snatched the Edifier for 253 euros

  • I got this System too since december 24th 2009 and it' s amazing. I recommend to arm the speakers at the wall. looks pretty nice and sounds good. But I recommend also a new soundcard because AFTER buying one you unleash the real sound quality :) (x-fi Titanium for example)

  • where did u buy these speakers cause i want to buy them. but the only site i can find that will ship to the USA is NCIXUS.Com where to the total is 363 with out shipping and 163 for shipping only, which brings the total to 526 after everything else is added. thats alot for computer speakers! thanks alot.

  • @07whosurdaddy I got it from a local shop in europe, they ship only locally. :)

  • Is the sub sound similar to that from z-5500?

  • logitech z-5500 is much better than this crap !

  • @chrix94 Sure thing,a hundred present tested, with publicly available test results in the road of hell and ignorance.

  • @truebassB s550 and s730 have the same sub right ? how did u take out the front grill ?

  • @PrashantSinghs Yes,Edifier claims that the s730 subwoofer is 150w and the s550 120w but even if that power difference is real there's no noticeable difference in volume, just about 0.8-1db max.

To took off the grill i suggest you to watch a video called "how to remove z-5500 grill" it's the same process.

  • @truebassB yeah i saw that video long back, but never saw s550 sub without grill,so kinda confused..........

  • @chrix94 Logitech dreamed to be better like they done with their keyboards, mouse' and so on.....

  • @chrix94 no stfu

  • what is the dimension of the sub?

  • @BlitsBB it's 45cm in depth without the amplifier heatsink,51.5cm with the heatsink,36.5cm in dimension with the passive radiators, and 37.5cm in height without the feet (40cm with the feet).

  • I have the Edifier S530 , can I remove the uhm, thingy in front of the subwoofer somehow? Like you did, so you can touch the subwoofer.

  • Of course! You need to pull it out with a small screwdriver (small like a needle) or a flat head screwdriver.

Search for "z-5500 grill" on the search box on the top of this page, the process is the same on all the speaker grills.

  • Wow.. thanks dude! (:

  • You're welcome :)

  • what do you think about altec lansing mx-5021?

  • The best in this price! (130 euros here)

It kicks all the Logitech speakers, and it has awesome mids, and also the bass is controllable.

The frequencies are balanced so if you hear for example Jazz with the 5021 all the frequencies will give you a feeling that they sound at the same level.

But it's not for someone who wants high volume.

  • *z-5500 not z-550

  • edifier s730 have the same bas as logitech z 5500 :)

  • @tastatura12

same loudness but different type of bass

    logitech have loose boomy bass

    edifier have tight punchy bass

  • @ducttaperulestheworl then i think im going for logitech. Im selling my home cinema, because my roomie got the z2300 and my home cinema at 1000watts sucks comparing to them. The bass is veeery tight, and songs like CHP wet dolphin in the lows just wont be there. Im thinking of buying z5500, xoros 614, or edifier, and all i want is vibrating mids, very very neighbour-annoying bass, and connecting to my ipod :D

  • @JRprodz

both edifier s730 and logitech z5500 had great neighbor killing bass.

    it depends on personal preference.

z5500 bass may sound deep but it felt loose compared to s730 tight suspension bass

  • @ducttaperulestheworl that would be good?

  • @JRprodz

that depends on personal preference but I'll say tight bass sounded better to me

plus edifier got better build quality compared to logitech.

edifier got solid wood while logitech got weak plastic.

edifier got extra tweeter whole logitech have none (bullet plug does nothing much)

  • @ducttaperulestheworl Thank you, but i think i will either buy Xoros hxs 614 or Teufel e400 :D

  • rly?^^ i cant think so^^ i have the logitech z5500 but that saubwoofer looks a liitle bit bigger^^

  • the edifier subwoofer is bigger, I can show you a picture of them

and the sub of edifier sounds better if you compare z-550 with edifer

  • I agree

  • rly??^^ i dont know^^ but my z5500 is soo powerfull :D and very loudly^^

  • @KyyCrocker

my friend has a logitech z-5500 it sounds good but edifier sounds better in my opinion

  • is the bass better then the edifier? =) and the sound? the high sounds?^^

  • Do you think I can put the subwoofer next to a wall (well, some 2 cm away from it). Will it be ok with the membrane on the left/right of the speaker?

  • Yes that would be fine, but notice that the subwoofer may sounding too "Boomy" and it may become annoying.

  • Ok, thanks a lot for your quick response! :)

  • Comment removed

  • please... don't tell me that the z-5500 is better, cause the logitech is saying that is 180w

  • I've never heard the creative T3, but i can say that THIS system ROCKS!!!!! a varm recomendation to this produkt^^ got mine yesterday ;-)

P.S. beats the crap out of logitech z-5500, in music, games but maybe not in movies^^ since the z5500 is firstly made for movies. have not played my system in yet, but will sound much better soon......

    See ya all!!!

  • I'm glad you make this choice :)

p.s i see you have the z-5500,did you compare the subwoofers together? :D

  • @truebassB

in truth, to support my answers, I have been on sites comparing these two systems, but it is true that the mark Edifier is a very good brand! I have 2 sound systems that mark at my home:)!

    sorry for my bad English!

  • @truebassB

Excuse me, I did not mean that your system was bad, except I prefer logitech:)!

  • Ah ok no problem,i used to hear things like "the logitech has more watts!! YEAAHHH!!!" that's why i answer that way, because i thought that your answer was based on watts.Sorry xD

  • is this sub better then the logitech z5500 sub?

  • I would say yes.

  • Do it vibrate like all thinks in your room?

  • Hmm if you mean the cone, yes, but it doesn't have lose suspension like the z-5500.

For me a tight suspension is better than a lose one,but if you want excursion,it moves a lot only if you play extremely low frequencies like 10hz for example.

  • i got already excursion (z2300) so. because i going to buy z5500 or this

  • I'm suggesting you the Edifier S550 or s750 if you want 5.1 set,or if you want 2.1 set, check out this set,or some Klipsch pro media.

  • I don't think s750 is out yet

they mentioned in their website but not even a news about them out for sale

  • Hmm,i think my eye catch the s750 on a Australian web shop, but i'm not sure.

  • Hi truebassB, I am also interested in the Edifier S730. I am considering either a creative gigaworks T3 or this huge speaker. Is the bass superior as compared to the T3?

  • For it's price the subwoofer of the T3 it's fine.

It has something strange, something good, something that you can't easily find on this style of subwoofer, very deep and clean bass, but if you want to do a performance-quality comparison between this two subs, the Edifier definitely wins. :)

But... In my opinion, the Edifier subwoofer feats better on movies and games.

If you don't hear you don't understand, but it's like Yamaha subs which are better for movies, and not as good as a Velodyne on music.

  • @AudioEdifier

t3 sub is a smaller version of edifier sub

if you want deep rumbling sub bass frequencies choose edifier

if you want mid-bass then choose creative

creative suits music well and edifier suits gaming and movies more

but both creates great sound and clarity

  • is it an 10" woofer? looks exactly the same as logitechs woofer^^ 5*

  • Yep,2x10",one main driver,and two passive radiators :)

Actually i don't know why they are look the same, but i put off the driver from the box,and they are totally different :P

I will send you a link with many photos if you want. :)

    Thanks for the vote ;p
