Whaaa I love this song, such a great band, we used to sing this one out loud, biking home after so many great parties, hoping we could wake up the neighbours, just to show them we were having a great time hahaha oh boy, that was so many years ago. Now I am still a happy Dutch lady with great memories, but tonight, I am going to walk our dog, my MP3 and headphones on, singing out loud this one once again.
A lot of Tom Robinson music takes some time to actually settle, it takes a few times before you can take in the content of his texts and music. And how valid his texts still are.
this is an epic song and i agree even tho i am 17 i cant stand very much moddern music id love to bring back proper 70's rock, its the music that every one should be brought up to listening XD.
I read about this band in a book about the london punk scene in the 70s... said they had a bnunch of people in a pub singing Glad to be Gay... so I had to check it out... and I again find that my environment has not exposed me to alot of great music. This is a great great band and this is now one of my fav. songs. Proves again that great music comes from the UK not here in the US
Haha it's funny how a few people have mentioned Only Fools and Horses, I loved this song from that aswell :) I would have loved it if I had heard it anywhere but I can picture them now on the bus to margate lol.
Fair nuff man, didnt mean to slag it off-just meant that, compared to the more socio-politically relevant[& completely ace!]music of the time, this seems a bit,well,chart-orientated.Anyway,The Adverts were always my top band of '77. Peace.

Power in the darkness is possibly the best album of 1978 ; TRB 2 is poor but Sector 27 is quite good

This is a great song. Re 60s and 70s music, there was some utter shite written back then too..but the best stuff survives.
One of the reasons why people still talk about and listen to Mozart and Haydn but not their contemporaries. ;O)

Tom Robinson at his best ever. This is a real good song that I loved for decades.
"-4-6-8 ain't never too late
Me and my radio truckin' on thru the night
3-5-7-9 on a double white line
Motorway sun coming up with the morning light"
The guitars never sounded so strong in any other of his songs.
What a song, what a music!!!

Drive my truck midway to the motorway station
Fairlane cruiser coming up on the left hand side
Headlight shining, driving rain on the window frame
Little young Lady Stardust hitching a ride... and it's
Whizzkid sitting pretty on your two-wheel stallion
This ol' ten-ton lorry got a bead on you
Ain't no use setting up with a bad companion
Ain't nobody get the better of you-know-who
