  • WRONG!!!!!

  • Do you seriously get compliments from women on the knot itself? Any time a woman has ever complimented me on my dress sense it has always been my tie itself, and never the knot!

  • Is this not the ‘Atlantic Knot’?

  • @Rascaduanok No The Atlantic knot is a different knot all-together. In the Atlantic knot the two diagonal parts do not overlap, whereas in the edeity knot, they do. just search for some images and compare them. :)

  • @lalythil Thanks for the explanation. You are indeed correct.

  • This is great mate, but if you have the thin bit at the front ... the fat bit should be tucked IN your Shirt .... NEVER out!

  • ..........your tie is backwards............

  • Is this an uncommon traditional knot, or was it invented for the movie?

  • how the fuck can you tell what kind of knot he tied just by looking at it?

  • Thanks Frank for this excellent tutorial.

I'm a Half and Full Windsor knot fan but I'll add this to my choices.

  • This is not a different knot, this is a Full Windsor knot that has been flipped. I have figured out how to tie a true reverse knot, "True Merovingian", and I'm *not* telling :)

  • @qrrb Yes, I believe I've said that a bunch of times here. It's a little different, but it's basically the same.

  • "Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter"

  • Different indeed. To an interview? I'm not so sure. But to an evening out (dancing, dinner...etc), why not. A new trend perhaps? I'll have to try this one....I'll need the right tie though.

  • I think is experimental but never a substitute of the elegance windsor provides.

  • only problem is that the small end is on the outside? and backwards

  • @Macker51 Well, it's not a problem, it's the whole point of tying it that way, otherwise it would be just a regular Windsor knot :)

  • Please don't wear this during an interview.

  • @Pooqua Yeah, that would be crazy, you'd spend more time explaining the knot, than explaining your resume and skills ;)

  • Its a backwards full windsor, that's all

  • @veduardov Yep, you got it.

  • haha, cool :)

  • Thank you!! THIS is the knot I was looking for!

  • thank you for posting this...I love to wear ties. and i have been looking for that knot that will push my look over the top!

  • i wanna know how to do the wraparound red tie the merovingian wears in the matrix revolutions

  • @andresq4545

Hey, I know of a web page that tells you how to do Merv's red tie, it's really really easy. Almost insultingly so. Perhaps someone's already told you or perhaps you don't care any more but I can send you a personal message with the link if you want. I would have done it here but you can't post links on comments :/

  • wow ugly tie

  • I prefer Henry Hu's knot, but this one is pretty unique too.

  • Working on getting this right for my wedding... hopefully it works. thanks

  • this is exactly how you tie a necktie normally only this knot is tied with the seam outwards when you start.

  • Precisely. It's THAT simple.

  • I don't know where the comment: , I guess me and thousands of other who also have blue-ray, are just blind or something.....sorry, but it's not an ascot, its an Edeity. went but, you're a fucking idiot. I own the Blu-ray and a 55" TV. And it's a cravat. I even went to a Mens Wearhouse with photos from the movie and they all said cravat.

  • Comment removed

  • This "Edeity" shit is completely different. The material is loosely wrapped around the broad side, whereas a tie is tightly wrapped.

  • OK, this is where I make you look stupid in front of a lot of people.

On the top of the page next to my vid, there is an info box, in this box is a blue highlighted link, click it. If you had gone there and seen the closeup of tie being demonstrated in vid, you would know better.

Yes, those pics you posted are of a cravat, the tie the Merovingian wore in "The Matrix - REVOLUTIONS" not reloaded, which *gasp* is the title of my video.

Try watching it on your Blu-Ray.

    YOU sir are the idiot.

  • @frank77dk Okay hold on. I don't even REMEMBER the Merovingian wearing anything like that in The Matrix Reloaded, so I'm not an idiot for having a bad memory.

  • You're right. You're not an idiot for having a bad memory. You are, however an idiot for the following reasons:

    1) You failed to read the TITLE of my video...

    2) You didn't read the info box, where there is an obvious link to even MORE info, yet amazingly, you found those four other pics from a different movie to try and correct me.

    3) Last but not least, you couldn't even apologize, even after being vulgar, insulting, and being proven wrong.

    Tú és ignorante.

    Class Dismissed.

  • @frank77dk Why am I gonna apologize to someone over the internet who completely disrespected me? You didn't have to make this all public. Maybe if you would've sent me a message EXPLAINING, I would've been like, "Oh shit. My mistake. Sorry." But you decided to make it a public dispute. Sorry bro. No cookie for you.

  • Your first comment saying my video is wrong, kind of set the tone for our exchange. Why didn't YOU send a msg? Because you wanted to correct me publicly? U made this public

My first comment back to you was explaining that you were wrong.

Your response to that (which is why you should apologize) was to get insulted (why?) and become vulgar and begin insulting me.

In my following comment, I FULLY explained why you were wrong, and re-directed (the non-vulgar) portion of your insult back to you.

  • @frank77dk I posted it as a comment so that other people didn't get confused by trying to tie a knot that wasn't even a tie knot in the first place, because it was a cravat. UNTIL I found out you were actually talking about Reloaded. The reason I didn't think about that is that maybe you fucked up on the titles and confused them, but anyways. I'm sorry! =(

  • Accepted.

    Thank you.

  • what's next???... wearing your underwear on top of your pants???...

maybe shaving your eyebrows, and let your mustache grow...

  • @luisaspo Whatever floats your boat I guess, but hey if you want to start a fad, you just have to go for it! Let us know how those turn out......BTW, the Edeity Knot has been around probably longer than you have been alive ;)

  • I have no idea why I watched this, but I did.

  • I personally think it looks ridiculous! I'm all for the traditional look.

  • Actually, in the movie, he wears an ascot. I have the movie on Blu-ray, and in every shot of his neck, it looks nothing like a tie.

  • Sorry, I totally meant a cravat, which is pretty much the same thing.

  • @bigdaddybrazil , I guess me and thousands of other who also have blue-ray, are just blind or something.....sorry, but it's not an ascot, its an Edeity.

  • Read my comment above. Go watch the movie again or look at the photos. And like I said, CRAVAT, not an ascot.

  • It's just a windsor that's done with the tie inverted, and then flipped over once it's done. Very different, I may try that one

  • Yep, thats basically it. Amazing how many can't figure that out, and even with a video, they still don't get it.

  • I just wanna say this know is amazing i did it once and went to work and now half of my co-woerkers are trying it

  • Really good video, and it is such a cool tie knot!

If anybody dont get how to do this, maybe you guys should learn to tie some regular knots first ;)

I think the pace in the video is great! Straight to the point!

  • Thank's, I really appreciate that :).

  • do it again but a little slower brooo

  • thnks man. imma gonna use this for work.

  • Cool!

  • Nice. A regular Windsor has always served me well enough, but if I ever end up needing to wear a tie again, I'm gonna give this one a try.

    Kudos.

  • A regular Windsor is what I usually wear, 3-4 times a week, I just use this sometimes (1-3 times a year) for a special occasion to change it up a bit.

  • So... a reverse inverted full windsor...

  • That's exactly what it is. Try explaining it to someone though ;). Heck even with a video, some people still can't figure it out, lol

  • awesome

  • Awesome. thanks dude.

  • its kind of hard to tell when everybody in the movie is putting black on black and the movie itself is dark toned haha but w/e

  • Dude that was awesome...think i'm gonna us that! SOOOONNNN

  • You did that all wrong. What kind of dumbass walks around with the short part of his tie in front? In the movie did you see the short part of his tie "NO". Keep practicing maybe you will get it right. But you need to stop wearing a "windsor knot flipped over". No wonder you don't get compliments from guys, cuz they know you are a dipshit.

  • First off, check out the link under the video info at the top of this page, look at the pic REAL close. I know it's hard to see in the pic, but maybe next time you should do some research before you go around spouting trash.

And the reason most compliments I get in public are from girls (most of the comments for this vid are from guys) is because guys don't generally like to compliment other guys in public, unless it's a friend.

    Get a clue.

  • In Reloaded the knot always looked as if it's a regular necktie, tied in a windsor knot, only backwards. it's tricky to see, but the narrow end of the blade is at the front, and the wide end is at the back.

To duplicate the Merovingian's knot from Revolutions: first tie a normal Windsor knot. Then with the small blade of the tie from behind, wrap it loosely around the base of the knot twice, tucking it through the loop you've just made down the back again.

  • you know the resin is that he couldnt get the tie wright but they didnt give him time to fix it becaus of the sceldule

  • who taught you English?

  • cool man i might just start using that

  • u suck

  • Well delivered...a bit different but thats what makes the world interesting. Great work!

  • Thanks, I appreciate that :)

  • No prob, peace!

  • Thank you very much, looks awesome ! ! !

  • oh but it'll defo look kewl at a fancy dress partay!

  • That's right, just used one tie. I only used that tie which already comes from Hillfiger that way, to demonstrate the point, and to show the knot better. You can use any ONE tie you like :).

  • it looks a lil weird wearing a tie that way...

  • So you didnt have to cut ur tie at all. It wuz just one tie, not two seperate?

  • I saw it in a book actually, i think it was 85 ways to tie ties, but I am not sure.

  • Right on, I already changed the title and description, thanks for the info :).

  • Ediety Knot

  • Hey, do you have a link to a page where I can see the Ediety Knot? I looked before, and after your post, looked again, and I can't find it, the only stuff I find is on youtube, and they're different than mine. Cause if i'm wrong i'll change the comment up top.

    Thanks :)

  • sry bro..

but thers another cat on utube

thats got a vid n its better...

  • That's cool if you like his better, this vid wasn't about being better, it was about being accurate according to what was used in the movie. If you watch the movie closely you'll see, even some of the others who commented agree ;)

  • Aswell as reversing the tie so it's seam out, if you tie the knot with the thin end of the tie around the fat end when you flip the tie round intsead of having the thin end on top it will look normal except for the know with no need for a tie pin.

  • Awesome video... going to try this for a halloween costume. Very nice tie btw.

  • haha, never thought of using it like that, nice :), have a fun and safe;) Halloween

  • NOTHING BUT A BACKWARDS WINDSOR

  • Backwards, AND inverted ;)

  • PAUSE AT 2:05-2:06 funny eyes LOL!!!

  • Basically what it does, is make the loop around the thin end, in the "bud" of the knot, a bit longer, so it makes it look more like the knot in the movie. No doubt though, the knot does look impeccable!

  • well, you can adjust how long you want the small end to be, by adjust where you start the knot, thats about the easiest way. Also you can get ties that are longer or shorter, which will also affect the final look of the tie.

  • That wasn't my point. I was speaking about making the loop inside the "bud" knot, around the thin end appear longer. Not having a longer tie or a longer thin end..

  • Yes, sorry, that was because I thought the knot with that little modification resembled the knot in the movie more that yours, but later I realized it made no big difference.

  • One small correction, now that I have done the knot myself...

Before you make the first wrap of the wide end around the side of the thin, like in the windsor, first wrap it around the thin one exactly like in half windsor, and then when you get the wide end on the side again, then you wrap it around the side of the thin end. Don't know if that made sense, I am going to try and upload a video to demonstrate better.

  • Correction is a strong word, perhaps suggestion is the word you should have used. ;) Thanks though, i'll have to try that one out.

  • yeah, it's a bit fast I know..I sometimes forget how fast I can fix a tie, I was going slow for me in the vid;)

  • Wrong, that's not the tie not he has on. You can't see the thin part at the front in the movie

  • Sorry, my bad. Bad quality of movie. You can indeed see the thin side.

  • Hrm, but let's just say you didn't want the thin side showing, just do the same process replacing the thin side with the thick side, that might look pretty nifty.

  • I think that would make it a normal full windsor ;)

  • No, the knot would still be a backwards full windsor as in your vid but with the thick side in front as opposed to the thin as you've shown. I've just tried it both ways and I think that if I had a split two coloured tie as you do, that the way shown in this vid would still look better, but with the solid colour tie I have I like the thick side in the front personally.

  • cool,!

  • why am I retarded? because I made a video with an apparent audience of nearly 30,000, and 45 mostly positive comments. Yeah...ok

  • no pal cause internet cookies keep people logged into youtube, and youtube doesn't let you delete comments

no need to lash out lol

  • Great vid...my prom is coming up and i think ill be wearing something like that...thanks man, big help...If anyone knows how to make the tie knot the Merovingiain was wearing in Hel nightclub in the third movie, please let me know....

  • that one has given me some issues....thats a harder knot to get, then again, i should spend more time one day, and really try...:) have fun at the prom:)

  • For Prom...... are you supposed to wear a TIE or a BOWTIE!? eh'?

  • i think that would have to depend on the rest of your outfit. If its a tux, a bow tie is traditional, but u can also wear a tie, i think...lol

  • Well, I'm wearing a suit & tie, however my outfit is pretty formal...

    Anyways, great vid,

Again, if anyone can shed some light on the tie knot in the nightclub in the third movie please let me know...

    Thanks!

  • to atom, which character in that scene?

  • The Merovingian, his tie knot seems to be a regular windsor wrapped around but i cant get it...thanks for the help!

  • i've heard that bow ties are a thing of the past... they don't really project any possitive images. some say they make you look like a waiter, i agree and just avoid them completely

  • thnkxxxxxx loved it

  • thanks for posting! this looks awesome - i just hope to find a tie that can make it stand out - any links?

  • sorry man, like i said in the vid, hillfiger ties have different colors in the ends, hope that helps, just try all sorts of ties, im sure you'll find some, i have several:)

  • This knot and the one 'simplyJustHen' mades are not the same!? Not sure witch one is right though... Anyway... Thx 4 sharing!

  • your right they're not, he even said thought that the one that I show is the right way, but he likes his way better, and it is a sweet tie for sure:)

  • Your way of tying this knot is so much easier than the other guy.

Some of the ladies have laughed at my tie, but not in a derogitory way.

  • np guys :)

  • Dude-thanks...

  • Awesome!!! Thanks for the vid.

  • it doesnt look as good as the video this is a response to

  • so cool

  • Ha! For sure man, you'll get some looks:)

  • I'm favoriting your vid dude... I'll have to try it with a few ties to find the right colors to really make it stand out! It'll blow my buddies' mismatched sportscoats and slacks away!

  • sweet, i just figured out how to do this. took like 20 min lol, but ya i now have memorized this one and the othe other one by simplyhenry guy. thanks man

  • enjoy!!

  • Lmao, how do you go from making car racing videos, to doing "matrix reloaded tie" videos??//

  • lol, well, i love racing, but I also like to look good and dress well, besides, i wanted to make sure that people out there were able to see how the tie was supposed to be done. The one done by the other dude looks cool too, but it wasn't the way it was in the movie, so i felt compelled to correct it.

  • I've never seen the movie, so I can't compare it to how the character had it, but I think with the inverted looking knot and the narrow end outward, it ends up looking far too sloppy for my personal taste. I prefer the way the original video posted by SimplyJustHen had the narrow out traditionally behind the wider.

Although I'm glad I could see it like this as well. Great video.

  • Thats cool man, thanks for the feedback, of course not everyone will like this tie, I do, and I wear it from time to time. I only did this so people could see how it was supposed to be done, if they wanted to copy the movie.

  • your a tosser, the vid that this is a response to is far better

  • whether its better or not, isnt the question, this is a vid to help people tie the know the way it was in the movie. Even the guy in the other vid, says my way is the proper way. Learn some manners. I noticed you havent contributed any vids yet, until you do, keep your lame comments to yourself.

  • Thanks alot, i've been looking everywhere for instructions on how to do this, gj frank :)

  • WOOHOO, this vid has finally been viewed 10,000 times!! Thanks alot everyone for the comments, please spread the word, get this baby viewed 20,000 times!!! To the moon!!! haha

  • The Matrix is awesome, your tie is awesome too! Good job.

  • Thanks for the props:)

  • Forget learning how to do this "matrix tie", I've been trying to learn how to tie a tie for a long time, and this video is the only one that made sense to me. Thanks a lot for posting it.

  • My pleasure, glad you like it:)

  • i was lookin for this and finally i made it photo it on me and upload the xuqa :D

    10girl says "amazing" :D:D

    thnx man :D

  • np man, enjoy!!:)

  • Hi man, I used this knot in my Work and EVERYONE ask me where did I find it, or if this knot it was of my invention. hehehe, I give to all my friends and coworkers the link to your instruccions, and obiously your credit for this very very COOL knot, this knot gives to me popularity in my work, and in the streets some poeople look at me hehe, one more time THANKS MAN !! greets from Mexico's City :-)

  • Gracias, estoy feliz que tienes gusto de él, y te aprecio que dice a tus amigos sobre él.

Mi esposa es de Veracruz, pero yo soy un gringo:) (Portugues/Canadiense)

  • Holy crap, how can this not help? Perfect. I'll wear my tie like this to work today to see if anyone notices. And maybe I'll do it...on the weekends? The dual tone certainly makes it look sharp. Cheers.

  • Thanks man, yeah I was wondering how some were confused, seems pretty straight forward to me, cheers!!:)

  • thats very cool man

    thanks

    i will try it :))

  • Ok just to let you know...pretty much everyone asked me about this thing...all the old German Grandpa's thought I was crazy and all the guys thought it was wierd at first...but once they looked at it for a bit they started to see how cool it really looked...I can't wait until the next time I get to wear a tie...way to cool!!! Oh and I rolled without a tiepin(not really my thing) and it still looked good! Cheers!

  • Thanks for the feedback man:), thats about the same reaction i get. After the first person notices it, it kinda gets around, and everyone wants to check it out. I haven't found one person yet that didn't like it :). Im glad you enjoy it!

  • Dude that was rad and I am trying it tonight at a wedding for the first time. Thanks and not confusing at all...ok maybe for the simple people but it was easy...cheers mate!!! Jarlybart

  • this is confusing :s

  • Do you know how *Cute* you are! ;-) I am a Suit and Tie freak and WOW I love this knot will use from now one, but would love to go out with you! ;-)

  • THIS DOES NOT HELP...

  • What do u mean? Hell, I had to figure it out just by looking at a still frame, and this doesn't help? LOL

  • Gracias :)

  • Interesting - it's effectively a St. Andrew's Knot, but with the initial cross-over reversed, and then the whole thing is flipped. Very stylish.

  • Thanks:)

  • On second thought...

Kaboom! Very nice... I am using this one tonight!

  • I know that in the movie you can see the small end, sticking out, but I don't like it. I do a hybrid version of yours and SimplyJustHen's version (before seeing either, of course). I put the tie on backwards, do a windsor knot with the narrow end, and then flip it over. Not small end sticking out the front, and you still get the same knot.

    Peace

  • sounds like that would look pretty cool, im gonna try it out:)

  • nice knot! I never noticed the thin end on the front..

I guess mine is an original :P

  • yeah dude, like i told you, ur knot looks sweet :)

  • great stuff! im so doing this now. thanks so much man!

  • thanks:)lol
