Hearing protection is a must. There are myths that if you are out doors you are ok. Not true. The sound waves coming from the front of the weapon rival that of a top fuel dragster, anywhere from 140dB to 170dB. I was a marksmanship instructor for 2 1/2 years in the Marine Corps and I lost 40% of the hearing in my right ear even with the required hearing protection. Be smart and wear hearing protection whenever you can.

The reason to own it is different for each person. I have a few because they are fun to shoot and I like target shooting.

@ObviouslyBoredKid Funny, I have a class 3 and didn't have to do any of that. I make parts for LWRC. In order to manufacture and sell them I had to get a class 3. Splitting is correct that it is a Manufacturing and distribution permit attached to your FFL. If you don't have the FFL you can't get a class 3. Nice try and have to give it to ya for sticking with the lie. OH BTW a class three isn't different in every state. It is a federal license and the same in every state. Again nice try.
