I'm waiting, waiting and waiting for something interesting to happen... Watching the 6 th part I realize that it's not worth continuing ... It's boring ... sob stuff ...
You can see Josh is really trying to hide his tears from his grandpa. Though it is heartbreaking and depressing to watch, it was a good thing to let him cry out his pain even though it was too hard for his grandpa to see. This movie gives me so much sorrow. ='(
I found out a while ago that though this movie was released in 1998, it was filmed in 1995. Joseph Cross (Josh) was 9 years old just like his character, not 12 like I thought. Doesn't matter though.
I wondered if this scene with Josh's grandfather took place after Josh learns he is sick and dying. It just seems that way because in the flashback scene, he begins to cry as the grandfather kisses him on his forehead with a look of sadness on both their faces just before they go for a walk. The whole movie with the flashback scenes are painful to watch because I don't have my grandfather anymore. ="( *sniffles*
At 4:02: When Josh is crying as his grandpa is holding him, you can see that it was equally painful for both him and his grandpa at the thought of losing each other.
Losing a grandparent to illness, especially when the grandchild is young, is really hard. It's been a decade since my grandpa died and I still wish he was here with me. ='{
josh's close relationship with his grandpa and him dying makes me feel awful because i wish i had my grandpa and reminds me of the grief i'm still going through after years (he died at 67 from lung cancer when i was 9.) i don't remember him too well, only wishing he was still here. oh, what would i give to hug my grandpa again and be comforted by him. :'{
I want my grandpa so bad right now.="{ Sadly, he's dead now (since nearly 11 years ago). When I feel confused or overwhelmed about things every now and then, I wish I could talk to him and have him give me a big hug, telling me that everything will be okay. I wish I could have a good dream about him where I get to talk to him in it about what's bothering me.
Oh, man, that photo is of Pope John Paul II! That takes me back to 12 years of Catholic school (I grew up in the mid-90s and early years of 21st century)
His sister is the top role actress in Save the last dance movie
Also Josh's mom playes in fly away home with Anna Paquin, with the geese she rescues and helps them migrate

"What if you get there and find out there is no God? Who's gonna take care of you?"
I feel bad that Josh was confused and scared about what would happen to his grandpa after he dies.

Why is it so hard to endure pain like that?

Joshua (voice-over): "Mission journal entry: Robert took the Pope hostage today."
LOL! I'm glad that even though this is a sad movie they found time to add comedy to it.
