  • I didn't buy Uncharted 3 because of the online pass (I was planing to buy it on release week) and whenever I get it, it will be a used copy and I won't pay for the pass

  • Agreed mate. EA are like a cancer.

  • THQ is doing it too

    Homefront=Battle code

    Smackdown vs raw=Online Axxes

ETC. BUT I hate EA because of them shutting down developers such as Pandemic

Pandemic was the last straw EA you will never see any more of my money

  • FUCK EA, FUCK THEM WITH SOMETHING HARD AND SAND PAPERY!

  • A game in US costs 60 dollars.

Compared to sweden, a game costs 600 Kronor.

a dollar = 7 kronor, which means it should costs around 420 kronor for a game.

    Everytime i buy a new game, i pay 85 dollars o.O

  • good thing I don't buy or play any ea games!

  • $50 to $60 for me they are charging australia $100-110

  • @darkz1820

    60.00 US dollars = 56.75 Australian Dollars

  • @darkz1820

a new game in australia is about $100-$110 doesn't matter about the australian currency

  • @darkz1820

When you buy a game for $100, are you paying in Australian dollars?

  • @L1Games

    yes

  • @L1Games

here is a site so show what we pay

  • @L1Games

    i'll pm you the link

  • @L1Games yes we pay around $AU100-110

  • Screw EA and all the other penny pinching. After not being able to my play my FIFA 11 or my Madden 11 cause my bro used the online pass I started looking to get my online pass for free. I tried code generators, downloads and even taking some from a store. I finally stumbled across this one site and was extremely pleased when I got my Online pass. I made a vid about it and everything to help other people like me out. Its on my channel, check it out.

  • FUCK, FOR FUCKS SAKE WTF

  • also i had to restore my ps3 to factory settings and im not even sure if the codes are still working for my online id

  • i was so mad when i found an online pass in homefront but when i entered the code it screwed up my trophy collection by only showing hidded trophies and the game froze during story mode so i took the game put it in its case and played black ops. i think my copy of homefront is still collecting dust right next to fifa11

  • GameStop promotes the online cards bcuz its going in the opposite direction of where it should, where game companies should go after used game stores' profits which is rightfully the developer's money. So if EA decides to rob the consumers, GameStop claps their hands. If they were to go after GameStop's profits then they would boycott the idea, and try to sue.

    > Eh just my thoughts, but it really makes sense.

  • @uber29 @ihopethisnamefit The larger problem for me is the precedent that is being set here is for Corporations to strong-arm private transactions. How is the money rightfully their's? Used game stores buy games from gamers and than resell just like a Pawnshop as a business. If EA wanted to buy my games and take the TIME and make it a JOB of reselling them then yea they deserve that money. But they don't deserve money for the private transaction of a product already purchased from them.

  • I CAN LIVE ON MINECRAFT FOR YEARS!!!!

  • Essentially what i mean is I am not suprised. We have to fight back. Netfix just raised their prices. What did my family do? Sent an email to the mback saying "Jerks" (my dad wanted worse language), and we reduced our subscription to just instant watch. Fuck em, the word will get out, either in the company's inbox, or in their falling profits.

  • I totally support your views on this subject. However, i must point out that perhaps the stockholders and those who have invested in EA are going to pressure the CEO no matter if john really is an extortionist. The STOCKHOLDERS dont know gamers. they know wallstreet. And we must understand, this is capitalism, EA can do that if we choose to accept it. Its a corporation , they're in it for the money no matter the product or service, therefore its up to us to tell them (as you said) fuck no.

  • Great great video

  • But... Battlefield 3...

  • Altrough I'm totally not into online gamine, i do think your kind of right there. Besides that, you should also talk about the Ubisofts DRM which forces PC players to stay online even if they want to play singleplayer. Yes, if your connecton breaks at any moment during offline gameplay, your game stops immediately working. And my internet often drops off, making it impossible to actually enjoy the game! Fuck the Ubisoft!

  • @cyberdaemon Thanks for the info man, I'll avoid Ubisoft like the plague. If I payed for it, then it's my game to play when I want, fuck forcing me to maintain an internet connection.

  • and in the mist of this valve is till a BAMF!!

  • i love L1's EA rants

  • Hommie I refuse to pay for more money that's already on the disk.

I can see if it wasn't on the disk at first and then they like Oh everyone we just created this DLC and we would love for you to play it. then I would have bought it to update my game to keep playing it. But if its already on the disk then why should I pay more money on a 60 dollar game?

  • wow excellent video.

  • There is an ad for the Sims 3 expansion pack next to the video.

  • @MrBlockishMark I know right lol

  • I used to like EA games but now just screw buying them

  • as noble as your preaching can be, you are asking the country that buys water bottle; more than a rate of gasoline, a country that grew up on instant gratifications by extra cost, poorly educated young compared to other post industrial countries would grow patience and ask to look beyond their selfish need by not supporting this test market? i think you give too much credit to us consumers.

  • @tkoizumi

    I'm an optimist! LOL

  • @L1Games

Hey, agree with you because its NOT right, and this is coming from someone who is interested in designing games. Its a rip and is starts to limit how people can actually play games. Those who don't have money to throw away on stupid shit like this won't have a chance to play games like this because we have to continue to pay for games that we ALREADY PURCHASED. How much sense does any of this make? Over 60 bucks for a game and we STILL have to pay to play it even though we purchased it

  • Also, I love your view on people being able to feed their family yet enjoy life. This is ridiculous. In the so called digital-age, things are becoming even more difficult not because of the programs or the hardware but because of the payments. We're having to pay extra for MINISCULE features that aren't even worth the money and the effort to get them. Why not just all of this stuff on the game that already cost enough as it is? We pay 299+ for systems and 60+ for games. Isn't that ENOUGH? Fuck.

  • @L1Games I'd never done much online gaming before i got my ps3 since xbox live was expensive. I heard PS3 wasn't good for sports gaming so I got xbox live for sports gaming. So i went and got ncaa 12 logged into it and found out i needed an online pass and i didn't have one because mine was used. So not knowing what it was i got it. Then it said "Thank you for your intrest but you are not old enough to acess online features. PLease enjoy the REST of your game." I'm 14 and it said

  • @L1Games thirteen in the tos. I made my xbox live account in 2007 but we lost internet. I guess it didn't move my age up while i was disconnected. SO i sent the forum out and it never came back. I couldn't change my DoB on my windows id because i forgot the spam emails password. I saved 5$ buyying the used game over the new game at gamestop. Retarded eh?

  • @tkoizumi LOL I know right xD

  • I had FIFA11 brought from England (to Asia) and i got it new.... online pass don't work

  • @MattBirduni For real son? dang that's some messed up crap....You should try to e-mail EA.

have you check there web sit out about this problem?

  • @liljkid726 It works now.... i got it in November- now it's Almost April

  • I LOVE when you go into SHADES MODE! LOL!

  • BACK to Counter Strike Source

  • Facists arts with their online pass that's just bull shit and then you got milkcom with selling incomplete games and making the consumer pay for the rest piece by piece is also bullshit

  • If you buy EA games you are eather rich or stupid or both

  • This is why I'm only buying 1 ea game this year. This is also why I'm buying 3 Bethesda games & 2 VALVE games

  • people need to see this... Dude literally spells out how BS the reasoning for the Online pass... dude does it with their own reported EARNINGS!

  • I bought Tiger Woods that required the EA code (forgot the name) and gamestop DIDNT GIVE THE CODE TO ME! I came back and they said, its not important, you dont really need it. I said I do for online and they said well im sorry... So I couldnt play it online...

  • Huh, how ironic I feel like a used gamer!

  • I agree with this soo much they are super greedy pathetic slime. I have been buying and trading and craigslist and stuff a bunch of games lately. I feel most games arent worth 60 dollars and a lot of them I don't really enjoy enough to keep this way I can play a whole bunch of games. We are already penalized for buying used, we won't get to play it first well have to wait a few months the online community will be a lot less already, people will have higher lvls ect online now ea is like pay up

  • Maybe their idea of improving the "premium" online service is by keeping the user count down on there servers.

IF you put a charge on the service less people are going to use it. The fact that theyre targeting the used game market, rather than new, keeps the old online games off the servers enabling more bandwidth, improving the service.

This is a long term measure rather than a short term scam to make money.

Although I think EA are the equivalent of the borg this idea does have merit.

  • We need a L1 Games in Louisiana, all I find around here is gamestop! After these videos I will significantly buy less (if any) more games from gamestop, and NOTHING from EA. I'm not sure if you will read this but how much would you buy a used copy of Fallout: New Vegas that was in perfect condition? If it's more than 15 dollars L1 is a must have, and as for EA I never liked their lather, rinse, repeat sports games, so boycotting won't be a problem. Much respect brother.

  • DAMN I really want to buy Bulletstorm but i don't have 60 so i was gonna wait for it used for like it having 15 or so bucks off but ill have to pay that back with a damned online pass???? WTF?????

  • It really hurts the PC gamers as well. Lots of the Older titles of PC games are very hard to find, along with game stop over the years PC games are starting to get smaller, and you cant find any more used games with them stupid CD keys... The quilty of games from ea have be going down hill. EA KILLED C & C. I am tired of EA i think its a time for a Boycot, No more EA, I am tired of there Crap.

  • Have you stopped selling new EA games at your shop ?

  • You should be running the video game industry :\

  • FUCK EA! This online pass system is a scam. Trade in values will plummet, online communities will die and people will have to pay $10 every time they buy or rent a fucking game. total crap...

  • This sounds like some of the things Microsoft got sued over.

Perhaps its time someone sued EA. :)

  • great rant just great!

  • Those who are saying that project ten dollar is fair by ea. think again it isn't, say we see in brittain its project £10 so when was £10 = $10. fair enough i can buy these titles brand new so i dont have to pay that £10.

let me use an example here.

The queen is essentially the publisher of british soveriegn and then she must be justified on making those who use second hand bills pay an extra £10 towards the service they are buying just because the money the person was using was used before?

  • I will gladly join this boycott. I'm just as tired as you are seeing game companies push the bar further and further trying to squeeze every penny out of us.

Screw EA and screw any company trying something similar.

  • Oh no! They're taking our money in exchange for their games! Oh no! What are we going to do? Oh what are we going to do?

Give them a break. They're a BUSINESS. They're not a charity. They'll charge what they want. They make money like everyone else.

You don't like it, but you like their games, tough shit. If it's that much of a problem then obviously you mustn't need the games that much.

  • @Toastynater

Wow, either you really didn't get my point, or you didnt listen to the whole video.

  • @L1Games I listened to the entire video buddy, and all I discovered was two things:

1: I found out that you don't understand what the word extortion means

2: You mistake business for thievery

Games are incredibly cheap these days. Why? If you rate their value on per hour, they are.

Played BF:BC2 for about 120 hours. I paid 60 bucks, therefore I paid 50 cents for each hour of entertainment.

Go to the movies, 20 bucks for a ticket. Two-hour movie, that's ten bucks for an hour of entertainment.

  • @Toastynater

    1. It's figurative. What they're charging is massively excessive. That's my point.

    2. I make no mistakes. I question the Ethics of the Online pass and EA's choice to use it.

Actually, The average MSRP for games is higher than ever, and the amount of gameplay has been shortened. the only replay value many games have is Online (with only a few exceptions) and NOW EA has diminished the value of the game you just spent $60 on by implementing Online Pass

  • @L1Games

Let me also add that I didn't shoot this video for me. as a retailer, I lose nothing. But as a consumer, those who purchase games with Online pass DO.

As soon as you open a game with Online pass, it's value plummets an extra $10. Not to mention households that have more than one console and have to resort to buying extra online passes so they can play the game on individual profiles.

A company that see's Massive increases in profit doesn't need to do that to their loyal clientele.

  • @L1Games Yeah, imagine a family of two parents and three kids all wanting to play the same game, that's $40 on top of the price paid for the game, right? Heyy again by the way hun, I was just looking through your videos and found this one. It's actually pretty damn inspirational. It shows first and foremost how much you care about gamers. I think you're an amazing guy! By the way, the name's Gemma ;) xXx

  • @mysteryloser24

Nice to meet ya:) You know my name already:) Have you added my facebook yet? "EmYou ZeeZee"

  • @L1Games Unfortunately, I absolutely despise Facebook and I will never have an account with them. It's far too easy to find people, and it scares me how easily people have been attacked through facebook. It's on the news so much in the UK I'm surprised it's still up and running... :/ xXx

  • @mysteryloser24

Indeed. that's why my account includes no real personal information:) I figure that way I can be invested in social media without strangers knowing my business:)

  • @L1Games Yeah. :) The problem is that most young people see facebook asking for the details and just fill 'em in regardless. To be honest, I'd sure like to know why facebook operators need your address and phone number anyway... If they want to know where you live, they only need your IP address... xXx

  • @mysteryloser24

Yeah, parents should definitely teach their kids not to enter personal information on the web (anywhere at all) there's no good reason to enter that stuff. a Name is plenty for your friends to find you on there. well, if you ever break down and do it, you'll have to add me. LOL.

  • @L1Games Haha, if that day ever comes, it'll be mind control or some sort of evil magic, because I don't expect I'll ever be on facebook at will. :) But you would be the first to know about it ;) xXx

  • @Toastynater

    1. It is forced. If you buy the game new and anyone else in your household wants to play online, they are forced to buy another online pass or buy their own copy of the game. for the same service thats been offered from day 1 for free.

But I used the term extortion figuratively. If you cant comprehend my meaning, Thats on you.

  • @L1Games 1: How are EA forcing you to pay money? The basics of retail sales are this: If you like the product and you believe it's worth the price, you buy it. If not, you don't. IT'S THAT SIMPLE. EA are not holding a gun to your head and making you buy the product. If you really believe that the online pass price is too excessive, you don't *have* to buy it. If you want the game that much it must be worth it. You contradict yourself here.

  • @Toastynater He's not talking about buying the product! Everyone in the house has to pay an extra $10 if they want to use your game, and that used to be free. The point is, their annual turnover is immense, and now they want to charge us extra money just to play their game online. Why do they need to do that? They make enough profit already without charging every person who wants to play a game that's already been payed for.

  • @Toastynater

    2. 2. Ethics DO matter because thats what this (Video) is all about. I'm entitled to my opinion on this practice. Don't attempt to tell me otherwise. My video isn't about how a company can make more money. My point is that a company that's already making plenty is taking advantage of their clientele.

and I'm going to speak up about it because I believe it's wrong. PERIOD.

  • @L1Games 2: You took my reply the wrong way, and I apologize for not putting it correctly.

EA, like any other publisher is there to make as much money as possible without losing money. If people are actually forking out for this online pass, then people must believe that it's worth it. So, EA sees this as an opportunity and they take it. They're not there to give you a good deal, they're there to take as much money as they can. I meant that ethics don't matter to EA.

  • @Toastynater Believe it or not buddy, people don't always pay for things because they think it's worth it. In fact, yes, fact, the majority of people don't speak up and complain, they just pay even though they know it's not worth it. How about children who don't understand the Online Pass but really want a game? Parents are often pushed by children into buying things for them, and once the game's bought, and all the kids want a go, that parent is pushed to pay more, and it's wrong...

  • @Toastynater

People don't "think it's worth it" as much as they HAVE to purchase it. There is no other option. They buy it because it's the lesser of two evils. Pay 10$ to play the copy we bought for the family, or pay $60 for another copy with a fresh online pass. There is no other choice for those who wish to play the game on their own console (even if they live in the household that paid full retail price for the game. it's sad that you cant see this.

  • @Toastynater

No. Not like my business. Because I actually care about my clientele.

  • @L1Games That's all well and good, but you don't go handing stuff out for free. The idea is that you try to make as much money as you can, with your clients still being happy.

If EA's customers were still buying this, then they must be happy with the price or they wouldn't be buying it.

  • @Toastynater You really don't understand humans, or human behavior... Not everyone is the same and many people buy things even when they know it's not worth it. If someone really wants to play a game, they might pay anyway. You wouldn't wait for a game release for months and then not buy it because you think it's not worth it. Gamers pay crazy amounts of money to get games, it's a fact of gaming. A world you clearly know nothing about...

  • @L1Games 1: It isn't figurative because extortion has nothing to do with someone trying to make a little extra. Extortion mean's you're FORCED to pay more. EA don't force you to pay for this.

2: Ethics don't matter, they're just out to make as much money as possible. As are you. And they're succeeding.

And don't tell me games are more expensive than ever when we Australians used to pay $150 RRP for N64 cartridges.

  • @Toastynater

Lastly, Gaming IS more expensive than ever. The MSRP this gen is higher on all games than it's been in the past. cut and dry.

But then, who are you to bitch about the price of games? After all, according to you, it's all just about companies making money. and you're OK with that. so I guess you can stuff that argument.

  • @L1Games I don't like paying extra for games. But for me it's simple. I just go without. I wait for the price to go down, or I buy it off eBay for a fraction of the RRP. If you want to hurt EA, then I advise you do the same.

All I'm saying is that I don't blame EA for trying to make money. They have mouths to feed at their tables just like most people running a business.

  • @Toastynater

you said in an earlier comment that "ethics don't matter to EA."

That's my point with this video. You're too simple minded to see that? You condone bad business ethics practiced by a multi billion dollar corporation run by men who make nearly $1,000,000 a year EACH!?

I don't know whats wrong with you, but that's just insane. If you want to be EA's bitch, go ahead! pay that $10 and feed into their bullshit. But dont slam me for not liking it and having a voice to speak out about it.

  • @L1Games Holy shit, you're actually still going on with this? That's what I call dedication.

Anyway, if people actually gave a damn about this 10 dollar fee then EA would not be making as much money as you claim. They're taking an opportunity to make money, it seems to be working, more power to them.

  • @Toastynater Well someone's stupid... Do you even know what you're talking about? Online Pass is disgusting! For a start, nobody buys the game, you only buy the right to use it. Why should you then have to pay more money once you've already payed? If everyone in your household wants to play the game on their own profiles, that's $10 per person extra... Think about it, it's a major scam, and it's really unfair!

  • Comment removed

  • I have an idea: Don't buy EA games if you think they have shady business practices. This just sounds like an anti-capitalist whine.

  • @Jeku this

  • @Jeku

Actually, it's a commentary on Business ethics and what a company is willing to do to a loyal clientele in order to increase already increasing profits.

I own and operate a business, you think I don't know how it works? I'd say I know better than you do.

But I believe in taking care of my clientele instead of reaming them any chance I get.

    Should I apologize for that?

  • @L1Games Stop the presses! EA doesn't want to forever pay loss leaders for game servers!

Don't assume that you know any better than I do about this situation. Being an ex EA employee, and laid off by them a few years back, I certainly know the effects of their "business practices". What they are doing is legal, and nobody is forced to support them. Period. You are free to buy the 2K Games' equivalents, or buy the PC versions, or get the console versions when they're new.

  • @L1Games On top of that, it costs money to keep servers around forever. Other companies including Activision and Sega are routinely shutting off servers for old games, as well as EA. A company can't stay in business giving away something for free. When a used copy of a game is sold, the player should feel privileged to be able to play on the game servers for free. We're spoiled in this way of thinking; it's not even logical. You should know that, seeing as you "operate a business".

  • @Jeku

The servers are free, but the consumer is already paying $60 for a game with no R&D thats earning EA MILLIONS in it's first month alone....

Also, as I mentioned before, as they came up with online pass they were sitting on 4.212 billion dollars in net revenue from the year prior. an increase of 15% from the year before.

And yeah, lets talk about that. if one pays an extra $10 for online pass, the servers should stay up. But they wont. that $10 disappears when the servers are taken down.

  • @L1Games

EA is a company that has turned a MASSIVE profit every year for the past 20+ years. They have thrived. Now they're taking money from the pockets of Joe Average while John Riccitiello and the other big wigs get their bonuses and keep their near $1,000,000 a year salaries in tact. IF you actually worked for them, then YOU should know that. Maybe if their business ethics weren't so questionable, you'd still have a job.

So step off me. I'm entitled to my opinion.

  • @L1Games I believe babe, that we call this kind of comment a massive win on your part. :) Notice the lack of return argument from the "ex EA employee" who supposedly knows how it all works? ;) Nice going ;) xXx

  • Comment removed

  • @L1Games No R&D? Where do you get that information? I've actually worked on two or three Madden titles a while back, and I'm not sure what you mean by "no R&D". And you think they shouldn't try to make more money, simply because they have a lot of money already? Again: welcome to capitalism.

  • @Jeku

I have a friend who works for Tiburon. he has told me time and again that the R&D for games like madden, FIFA, ETC are minimal. the IP has been created, the engine is working and needs very little tweaking, all that really goes into the game are updates (stats, uniforms, ETC.) and advertisement. we all know this is the case.

and again: It's not about capitalism. It's about ethics.

  • I don't like the way you call it extortion though. That's a complete misconception of extorting a buyer. They aren't forced to purchase the pass. It's the same principle used in Battlefield BC:2, with the VIP map pack system. The game is only 15% playable without the VIP code shipped with the game, and/or purchased online. Don't classify an action as 'extortion' simply because it supports the economic sustainability of big businesses which looses A LOT! of money to the used games industry.

  • you guys say it like they are making you really pay it?? if ur paying for it, dont. simple. what innovative genious sports game have they had recently? none. ill stick with old school sports. ill leave my online to activision.

  • i never buy games from EA anyway.

  • Go have a cry you fucking babies, $10 dollars isn't going to kill you, ESPECIALLY on a used game that costs like $30 dollars.

    Fucking QQ'ers.

  • @TheDignifiedMamba seems like you have all the money to burn, well thats good for you asshole not everyone has a fat pay check or mommy and daddys pay check to pay for stupid fees

  • @Maxflamehead2 Dude...it is $10. In Australia people get that much money in one hour working at a fast food place.

No, I don't have money to burn and I don't have a good job, but unless you all live in a Third World Country then You shouldn't be complaining.

  • @TheDignifiedMamba dood, thats not the point either its stupid that a trust game company thinks its ok to just charge you more just because they can. and 10 bucks isnt a lot but if I buy a used madden game for 4o bucks and have to pay 1o more dollars I might as well have bought it for 6o bucks and thats stupid as hell

  • @TheDignifiedMamba Why not? So you think it's fair that everyone in your house has to pay $10 each to play the game you already payed for? It's not just $10, it's $10 per person who wants to use it.

  • @TheDignifiedMamba poor people, lol.

  • @TheDignifiedMamba

So because you have the $10, it's ok for someone to make you pay for a pre existing service and take it from you?

Yeah, it's just $10. Not a fortune. But Why should you HAVE to pay for it? A company that turned over 4.2 billion dollars last year is taking your money for no good reason.

If you're ok with that, Go pay it. Be EA's bitch.

But those of us who don't want to be EA's collective puppet will have something to say.

  • @L1Games The pre existing service is supported with the revenue of their new game sales. Those who buy the game new pay for the entire cost of the production, which may or may not include added online support = more production cost. The online service stays up long after the end of the production of a game. Keeping those services up costs money. Used game buyers who further lengthen the reason to keep those services up rest on the support of those who paid the full price to support them.

  • @JacksInn Sorry for being poor... Not everyone can afford to buy a game at full price when it's released, including me. Does that mean I shouldn't be allowed to use a free service, because I'm poor? That hardly seems fair, yet it's exactly what you're implying... :/

  • @L1Games My god you come over as a complete tool! What's with putting on shades to rant LOL. Simple if you buy the game second hand you are buying it cheaper than full retail, why shouldn't the owner (yes the OWNER) of the software do this? Why should they loose sales? Oh and if you have customers that $10 is the difference between there children eating or not, then the answer is simple they should not be playing games as they cannot afford them!

  • @scosystems

and you think I'M the one coming off as a tool? You'd best look inward before you spew any more stupidity.

God forbid I take offense to a major, multi billion dollar corporation that turns a consistent profit on a year to year basis taking advantage of the average Joe while their big wigs make nearly 1,000,000 a year salaries and choose to speak my mind on the subject.

No friend, YOU'RE the tool. I'm sure a great majority of those that have viewed this video would agree.

  • @L1Games Look this is very simple - if you disagree with EA's policy, then DO NOT BUY THE GAMES. Putting on dark glasses (looking like a complete idiot trying to make a name for yourself) and crying like a little baby will not change anything.

I for one will be very happy if people like you keep of EA's games and servers.

  • @scosystems This is not the point I can do without probably any ea game really, but here is the deal. If EA can do this shit and make a lot of money then bungie, infinity ward, treyarch, activision all of those guys that make number one games out there may go "oh hey look at all the money ea made doing this were gonna do it too". Then all game companies will have this extra 10 to buy used so basically your solution is to quit playing and enjoying games all together? NO ffs this shit is my crack.

  • @scosystems

and what have you spoken out on? Nothing? good job. Speaking my mind has earned me 11,000 subscribers (and growing) who all appreciate what I say about the industry and the service I provide gamers. meanwhile you stagnate.

So yeah, What you think I look like is irrelevant. you're not making a point, you're trolling. You're an idiot. if you have something intelligent to say, feel free to respond. but if it's going to be more of the same, STFU and let the real gamers speak.

  • Homefront is the newest title to include an Online Pass, spread the word.

  • bullllllssshhhhiiittttt........ EA is paying that extra ten dollar to their higher-up employees, not spending it on "enhancing online gaming experience". SMH EA

  • also they are doing this shit because since the charging to play demos couldn't happened they just went to their plan b i hope activision wins the infinity ward and ea lawsuits that way ea will get hurt in what they only really care

  • fuck ea they don't really care about their game their excuse on this online pass crap is that with the money from online pass code they will have more money to make better games...they re so fucking greedy the sport games shouldn't even cost 60 but since they got rid of some 2k games they pretty much have monopoly on that genre..but i'm sticking to me boycotting them and i really want crisys 2 but fuck them they ain't getting no money from me not even new games cuz i really don't buy them used

  • they better use tose 10 bucks for free dlc

  • @831recklessranger831 But then it wouldn't be free would it, because now you've payed $10 for it...

  • i like ur idea on boycotting, but most people ,including my self , do buy new so it wont do much we should all just switch to killzone or call of duty games, but then buy battlefield 3 lol, NO BUT SERIOUSLY, FUCK EA

  • EA sports is the only area that i see hurt by their own games. if you buy ncaa or madden, you're set for 3-4 years because all they usually add to the game is a little bit better graphics and maybe some new thing to make the game flow better. Nothing really new comes out the next few years so people just hang on to their games and don't buy the newest title. To me this is more EA being lazy and not coming out with new/interesting ideas more than the used game business hurting them

  • omfg im so pissed i just buyed a game from ma friend (bad company 2)for 600bucks and he moved yeasterday and i tried to find codes in like for a week nad then i only played single

  • First I like to say I do not own a Console, second I have already been boycotting them before I heard this, and this is just another log to my fire to boycott EA, so me as a PC gamer I support you console people.

One question I want to know, I am a US NAVY Vet and we can not connect your consoles to net out in middle of ocean, so here is question, how do the military people activate there game be it any branch that can't connect? For us we need a way to relax in Ur stress full environment.

  • :20-Enter BADASS Mode!

  • I bought Fifa 11 used, and the code was not valid. There is no way I am paying 800 microsoft credits to play online for 1 game. That is almost 10% of a gold memebership for the year, for one game. EA is greedy. Love the vids.

  • this is y people flash there xboxs and download free games this is a shot in the nuts to EAs fans. i know i definetly am not buying another ea game with that pass shit on there. great video your like the martin luther king of gaming

  • but, if they dont get your ten dollars? how can they afford another ruby encrusted gold streach limo?

  • by the way Black Ops might have the online pass code too but not shur untill tomorrow. if it is on Black Ops i ask all FPS gamers NOT TO BUY IT AT ALL. FPS games are comming out with the pass codes. Its already on Medal Of Honor.

  • its not just EA any more. i play FPS games. mostly COD games. I got medal of honor used and couldent play it because i have to buy the pass code. I do not play Xbox. and i will not pay for online play.

  • Magnificant.I will boycott every developer that extorts their customers like this. If they all do it, games can go fuck themselves.

  • they did this in battlefiled bad compney 2 you have to have a vip pass or you dont get half of the online maps and the hole point of the bf games is the online play :/ ea i hate you

  • Many publishers, like EA, have also introduced "review embargos" on the gaming media so that negative reviews do not impact on their sales.

Since when did this become an acceptible practice?

  • Wait so if people buy the 2011 sports games they will have to pay an additional $10 just to have access to online play if they buy it used? That's bullshit. And theres was a rumor going around about Medal of Honor and their DLC; apparently the new DLC was already on the disc we just had to pay to unlock it....I cannot confirm this though but that's what a lot of people are saying. And MOH's online play is so shit compared to that of MW2 and Halo: Reach and they're going for the same price.

  • I hit - Like - Like - Like - Like _ like _ Like but only 1 for meh TIER 1 nigga

  • They're WHAT? I have just stumbled on this video and I am aghast.

As a university student studying a game related degree, I am beyond anger that a major corporation could act in such a manner. It is bad enough that a new, major release game over in Australia would cost on approx. AU$70 - $100 (Halo: Reach is currently approx. AU$115), but now an international company comes up with THIS?

Are they still planning on implementing this and what will it affect? I might have a few words for EA!

  • @CM26617

It's been implemented in every EA sports title (2001) and the idea is being adopted by ubisoft, THQ, and Sony as well.

  • @L1Games OK. One more question: Has EA showed signs of making this a common requirement through all of their games, or is this still a "wait and see case"?

Oh, and I have already posted bith this and an updated video you posted (# 174) via my Facebook page - just to give fellow gamers a head's up should the proverbial crap hit the fan.

    Thanks, and good luck.

  • @CM26617

EA would like to make this common practice throughout their game library.

If they see their sales continue to increase and people actually purchase online pass then I'm sure it will be.

I'll send you an interview I did with Raymond Padilla on online pass as well. check your messages for the URL:)

  • @L1Games

    Thanks. Good luck.

  • @L1Games EA is now doing it on all EA titles including MOH and The Sims 3

  • There is nothing wrong with what they are doing. They're trying to impose legitimate ownership. Whether its 'moral' or not they are still acting legitimately.

  • @HoorayforOranges

    yeah but it still's gay.

  • @HoorayforOranges Moral and legal are two different things pal.

  • @bandit7498 Exactly, extortion is a legality. Moral arguments are just silly.

  • sadly THQ has jumped on this as well....sadface....

  • you know id be willing to put up with this if it was more like this

Without op: regular service nothing special

With op: private servers exclusive chatarters and other fun things like tackling makes a burst of confetti

  • @L1Games can i post this on my facebook page.

  • @djchucky

    Please do. spread the word:)

  • extortion? i still don't get how this is extortion. there not forcing me or anyone else to buy there games

  • @kevincto10

Extortion can also be defined as obtaining money or some other thing of value by the abuse of one's office or authority. It doesn't necessarily have to be done illegally.

EA is punishing Gamers for trying to find a less expensive alternative to paying new price for games. For a company that has thrived for the last 20+ years (even through a recession) and seen consistent increases in Net Revenue to do that to their clientele purely for profit, is (IMO) extortion.

  • @kevincto10

YOU may not be forced, but ANYONE who buys the game used is indeed forced to pay for an online pass and anyone who buys it new is being robbed of any resale value the game would hold without the online pass.

  • Comment removed

  • i see your point. in a sense, it is extortion if the person doesn't know they are being charged. but in my opinion if you don't know what your getting into when you purchase something that's your fault. that doesn't make EA immoral, it's just business. no corporation is looking out for us. they all just want Benjamin. all corporations are like this. like you said, all we can do is voice our opinion and choose not to buy their product. i can tell you want to help people and i respect that peace

  • @WackAWarrior no, not used games. im talking about -backups, and isos. if they use this, then that will stop because they wont be able to play online.
