Can't compare the thrash bands; they're all different. Anthrax is from N.Y. and were exposed to more hardcore punk. Slayer pioneered a sound of their own with Hell Awaits and haven't looked back since. Metallica and Megadeth are somewhat comparable, but both bands are at least in part the brainchild of Dave Mustaine. Point is, there's a lot to enjoy in each band--no reason to make it into a contest.
