@coxjohn much faster and balanced(apparently I don't actually know this), I'd recommend Blazblue Continuum Shift (cause it's the sequel) unless you care about storyline then get both BlazBlue Calamity Trigger & Continuum Shift, if not then just get Continuum Shift

I'm new to BB, and have decided to main Tager - during one of his combos, back-throw > Air Grab > f.C > D, is it possible to combo hcf+D? Is that strict timing? Or instead of D after f.C just do the hcf+D.
@ROFLross Use directional numbers. It's easier to understand. And 41236D (hcf+D) is Spark Bolt. It's possible, though you can also do it after 5D because everyone knows not to air tech against Tager.
And after the Spark Bolt, you can just combo his 5C -> 6A -> 2C -> 623C.

I couldn't be more thrilled about the fact that tager is taking the shaft in BBcs. Personally I play Rachel, and tager is the 5 year old down kid of the game. Anyone with two fingers and half a brain can play him. While this video is entertaining, it is far but skilled play.

1:51 -Rachel player didn't capitalize on a 5b. he could have easily forced a burst, and even bait it if he had the presence of mind. I bet he was hitting himself after that one.
@cemorocks All I have to say to that is: Untechable invulnerable grapple that does half of nearly any character's life, and is inescapable if you're standing on it when he circle-spams it out. It also does not autoguard, meaning if you dash in with a poke, you'll just land right into that big meaty hand of his, rather than having a chance to rapid.
Also, his backdash invulnerability is total clown shoes.
Just so you know, all of Tager's throws are techable at some point. Either on hit- or block-stun.
Also, while I don't know what you mean by 'clown-shoes', I'm pretty sure it's a negative. I'm going to steal that phrase and use it at work until people get sick of it. Thanks.
And Mike's Tager is awesome. Tager in general is pretty badass unless you zone him all to shit. He's pretty slow for a reason. Can't wait for his Continuum Shift awesomeness.

I have, on the other hand, found the cheapest way of beating him. 6C every time he does something other than walks or Spark Bolts. I catch him with that, it's usually a counter, and BAM. Win. Easy Mode is now unlocked... lawl.
@Shalashaska777 You can always jump out of a 720 if it isn't a throw counter or a purple. Atomic collider is an awful anti air in CT just hit him out of it with anything.
@TheArmOS I've gotten to where I just perfect block through his strings, and counter throw him. Doesn't always work, and I have a bad habit of jumping when I think I'm about to get grabbed. He usually sees it coming, and BAM. AC right in my face. Nearly every time.
What really makes me sad is when I see a 720 coming at the end of a string he's doing. I thing "Throw counter" but I jump, too, in hopes that one or the other will come out. I then jump, airgrab, then get 720'd. Wheee! xD

the misconception with tager is that he does boat loads of damage in one or two moves/combos and therefore he must be top tier. yes, he can punish the crap outa you and instantly turn a match around if you let him. but he has to work like 9x harder to even get that opportunity.

My least favorite matchup as a Noel player is Vs. Tager. I'll be comboing for a 1/4 of his health and he blocks once and i realize hes got 50% heat and i get super thrown for 50% of my life. Ive learned to not go for those big combos anymore. XP

yes 720 is easy to avoid. If your actually waiting for it. I mean yea u can spot a 720 if tager is in the air already cause the input us simple when air born. Mike_z uses diffrent setups to confuse the opponent, i mean lets face it who cant resist to counter a whiff move that is what going on here. The other is 720 when opponent recovers without roll simply there is no countering that. Tager is all about openings, its not easy to combo if the opponent is faster than you are.
First of all, if you want to nerf a bottom tier character in any way, you're an idiot. Second of all, you're acting as if it's easy to land a 720; outside of IB > 720 and back dash > 720, there are absolutely no guaranteed set ups.

He needs to stay exactly the same, plus all of the buffs you suggested. Then he might be viable. The 720C isn't nearly as good as you seem to think it is; sure it does a lot of damage, but will you connect with consistently? Probably not.

@LeftyHangsLower tager does have some invulnerability you just needto be perfect with your timing his 421B?(correct me if im wrong) has minor frames of invuln that has saved me from many of Ragna's CS Distortions also both 360's have invuln that i use religiously for my counters, all that aside i do understand where you are coming from, other than backdash, he could have more invincible frames.
How many anti-projectile measures does he need? He has, what, 6 now?
Personally, I've had more success with Magna-Tech Wheel than I have with 720. The superthrow is awesome for making comebacks, there's no doubt about that, but that spinny dance can really save your ass and even makes an awesome combo piece.
Tager has pretty much everything he needs to compete. It would be nice if those things were a little better, but if you learn the combos and matchups you can do just fine.
Against a patient Nu, Tager can do absolutely nothing. The only way he can win that match is if the Nu player makes a mistake, even if tager plays a perfect game.
That's sort of what I was saying. He has everything he needs and what he has is basically fine, but it would be nice if everything was just a little better at doing what it does.
Nu and Arakune aren't unbeatable for Tager, they are just really tough for him. REALLY tough. It takes some time, understanding and practice to get them down.
Only computers play perfect games. Humans are less likely to do so, so there is hope.
I do agree that it would be nice if his tricks were better.
Nu really is impossible if you play her right. if you look at the mike z video where he plays nu in the finals, the only reason he wins is because the Nu does some really stupid shit like using ground swords and dashing towards Tager. He fucked up because he got impatient and tried to go in for the kill, not because he messed up the commands or something like that. When you pay nu's basic keep-away game patiently, Tager has zero hope of winning.
Its not a good fight for tager, but it is defiantly winnable. Sledge is still a good counter to swords (even though you can just bait sledge for free d combos) and backdash spark bolt and magnetism shenanigans still can swing the match. Also Nu's health is super low, and tager does stupid amounts of damage. And a lucky burst bait wheel or 720 is alway fun. Ara and Carl give Tager much bigger and different problems then Nu. Much Much bigger problems.
(even though you can just bait sledge for free d combos): that's exactly why it's NOT a good counter for swords. spark bolt is pretty much the only thing he can do, except he can't do it whenever he wants. A good nu player will stay defensive when he sees he spark meter is full.
If a Nu just spams her gravity well, Tager can do absolutely nothing to get close. Which makes me wonder why a lot of pro players who use Nu hardly use gravity well.
magna tech wheel is easier to hit an opponent and with 100 tension, the rapid allows for good mix up. 720 is harder to catch an opponent, its best not to combo it...the best thing to do is outsmart ur opponent into getting into it

It refers to button position. Type A is ABCD (A on the index finger) and Type B is DABC (D on the index finger). Just a preference option.

@Shalashaska777 so jump, the grab only connects if your on the ground. tager has NO good anti air options at freaking all. by that i mean none of them have invulnariblity which means at worst you trade hits. plus he's freaking slow. honestly its sad if your complaining that half buttted tager has one safe move outside his supers cause the rest have either no priority or take a year to come out

@Gelyar Can't jump if you're already flying into that big meaty fist of his. Also, me jumping = him Atomic Collidering. Trust me, I got into the habit of Jump > B after he sledges, and BAM. Grabbed before the foot even comes out. And I'm Hakumen...
I have, on the other hand, found the cheapest way of beating him. 6C every time he does something other than walks or Spark Bolts. I catch him with that, it's usually a counter, and BAM. Win. Easy Mode is now unlocked... lawl.

@Shalashaska777 You can always jump out of a 720 if it isn't a throw counter or a purple. Atomic collider is an awful anti air in CT just hit him out of it with anything.

@TheArmOS I've gotten to where I just perfect block through his strings, and counter throw him. Doesn't always work, and I have a bad habit of jumping when I think I'm about to get grabbed. He usually sees it coming, and BAM. AC right in my face. Nearly every time.
What really makes me sad is when I see a 720 coming at the end of a string he's doing. I thing "Throw counter" but I jump, too, in hopes that one or the other will come out. I then jump, airgrab, then get 720'd. Wheee! xD

the misconception with tager is that he does boat loads of damage in one or two moves/combos and therefore he must be top tier. yes, he can punish the crap outa you and instantly turn a match around if you let him. but he has to work like 9x harder to even get that opportunity.

Lightning Rod is a trap, you have to stand still to detonate them, you can use them as a poke but other then that they doesn't have much use.

My least favorite matchup as a Noel player is Vs. Tager. I'll be comboing for a 1/4 of his health and he blocks once and i realize hes got 50% heat and i get super thrown for 50% of my life. Ive learned to not go for those big combos anymore. XP

Tager's 720 doesn't need to get nerfed. It's easy to avoid it if you use your brain. This Rachel, didn't. He kept falling for the same 720 set-ups and deserved to lose.

yes 720 is easy to avoid. If your actually waiting for it. I mean yea u can spot a 720 if tager is in the air already cause the input us simple when air born. Mike_z uses diffrent setups to confuse the opponent, i mean lets face it who cant resist to counter a whiff move that is what going on here. The other is 720 when opponent recovers without roll simply there is no countering that. Tager is all about openings, its not easy to combo if the opponent is faster than you are.

First of all, if you want to nerf a bottom tier character in any way, you're an idiot. Second of all, you're acting as if it's easy to land a 720; outside of IB > 720 and back dash > 720, there are absolutely no guaranteed set ups.

Dude, if you make any aspect of his character design worse, you make HIM worse. How does that not make sense to you?
He needs to stay exactly the same, plus all of the buffs you suggested. Then he might be viable. The 720C isn't nearly as good as you seem to think it is; sure it does a lot of damage, but will you connect with consistently? Probably not.

All I want for Tager is for 2C to have some invincibility, and I want some of his moves to have super armour, maybe 2D. That would make him balanced.
But even if we kept him the same and made all the changes you suggested, he still wouldn't be as good as Slash or Accent Core Potemkin.

@LeftyHangsLower tager does have some invulnerability you just needto be perfect with your timing his 421B?(correct me if im wrong) has minor frames of invuln that has saved me from many of Ragna's CS Distortions also both 360's have invuln that i use religiously for my counters, all that aside i do understand where you are coming from, other than backdash, he could have more invincible frames.

Personally, I've had more success with Magna-Tech Wheel than I have with 720. The superthrow is awesome for making comebacks, there's no doubt about that, but that spinny dance can really save your ass and even makes an awesome combo piece.
Tager has pretty much everything he needs to compete. It would be nice if those things were a little better, but if you learn the combos and matchups you can do just fine.

Against a patient Nu, Tager can do absolutely nothing. The only way he can win that match is if the Nu player makes a mistake, even if tager plays a perfect game.

That's sort of what I was saying. He has everything he needs and what he has is basically fine, but it would be nice if everything was just a little better at doing what it does.
Nu and Arakune aren't unbeatable for Tager, they are just really tough for him. REALLY tough. It takes some time, understanding and practice to get them down.
Only computers play perfect games. Humans are less likely to do so, so there is hope.
I do agree that it would be nice if his tricks were better.

Nu really is impossible if you play her right. if you look at the mike z video where he plays nu in the finals, the only reason he wins is because the Nu does some really stupid shit like using ground swords and dashing towards Tager. He fucked up because he got impatient and tried to go in for the kill, not because he messed up the commands or something like that. When you pay nu's basic keep-away game patiently, Tager has zero hope of winning.

Its not a good fight for tager, but it is defiantly winnable. Sledge is still a good counter to swords (even though you can just bait sledge for free d combos) and backdash spark bolt and magnetism shenanigans still can swing the match. Also Nu's health is super low, and tager does stupid amounts of damage. And a lucky burst bait wheel or 720 is alway fun. Ara and Carl give Tager much bigger and different problems then Nu. Much Much bigger problems.

magna tech wheel is easier to hit an opponent and with 100 tension, the rapid allows for good mix up. 720 is harder to catch an opponent, its best not to combo it...the best thing to do is outsmart ur opponent into getting into it
