  • Back in the day, the conversation for sexiest woman in all of rock music started and ended with Linda Ronstadt....

  • She looked so hot in The 70's. At any rate, It's so HARD to equal the excellence of an original, especially if that original was done by Buddy Holly. Without breaking a sweat, Mrs. Ronstadt pulled it off. I think Mr. Holly would've approved too.

  • One of my favorite vocalist of all time....NOBODY can sing like Linda...I saw her in concert and was blown away by her vocals.....

  • bravaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • This was on MTV?!? I was really born in the wrong decade. :(

  • @FunkadelicMary Yes, this video was on MTV.

But to be exact, ''MTV Japan''.

  • WADDY!!!

  • What great music !!! Thanks for posting and allowing us to enjoy

  • @fz9153 have you ever heard buddys version. right on frenchfried

  • Vaya que recuerdos aquellos, Linda es un ícono de la música de esos tiempos.

  • Doesn't matter who wrote this - Linda does it better than anyone.

  • @fz9153 no she doesnt.

perhaps you should listen to the original

  • @fz9153 u don't even know who is buddy holly so stfu

  • So no one is going to reference the fact that this is a Buddy Holly (or rather 'The Crickets') cover?

  • she is so superior to modern "artists" like Lady ga ga it's not even funny...

  • a ever green

  • thumbs up!

  • Hey and no one found her on American Idol or through a sextape, a reality show or

    with synthesized recordings

  • Three times better than anything by Spears, Swift, Underwood or Clarkson!

RONSTADT ROCKS and wipes the floor with any female superstar on the charts today.

  • although I agree her sexiness has class and is understated compared to female singers today, I can't agree she wasn't trying. In some clips she wears mini-skirts about the size of a large belt. Very sexy and borderline tasteful, but she knew she her legs were worth showing off.

  • @holzpusher The music industry wants to sell records, & sure-she's only human & a beautiful woman, so no big surprise that coming of age in the 60s/70s she would explore her sexuality-as the rest of the nation was. But for the most part, I think her beauty was a lot more wholesome/honest than most of the "divas" today. She wasn't trying to be a feminist icon-though felt pressure for that-& w/her family's music background, it comes straight from her heart, which is why I love her. Song selection!

  • @bookguitarguy We'd probably have to talk with her to get the real story. She did at least one sexy magazine cover and later claimed she was manipulated into posing seductively and didn't want to promote her music that way. Maybe that's true, I don't know, it's impossible to tell. But anyway, we're not talking about the crime of the century, nothing wrong with looking a little sexy. She's smart and talented and I'm a fan, I get mad when people criticise her looks today... I thinks she's great.

  • Talent is the sexiest thing in a woman. Linda is also beautiful. So... it's so easy to fall in love with her.

  • @NonStopRocker I would date with her at the time

  • She is so Fuckin sexy....!!!!

  • belt it out Linda - you're the one!

  • 怪不得聽王心凌的"彩虹的微笑"會這麼熟悉

  • she is sexy and could sing fiesty indeed but classy rock and roll all the way buddy holly wrote it but i like this version better personally!

  • It's so easy to fall in love with Linda Ronstadt!

  • I believe this was the 1977 Concert in Atlanta at the Civic Center.

  • She knocked this Buddy Holly number out of the park!

  • Go Waddy!

  • というか、こないだババリア・・・ボヘミア・・・よくわからないけど、お城のあるフッセンとミュンヘンに行ったわ、日本の山川みたいだったわ

  • ババリアの山川リンダさん

  • She is such a great singer and almost always wore a flower in her hair. I think Taylor Swift and the like wish they had such understated sexiness instead of bottle blonde hair and a publicity machine and NO TALENT!

  • @MadDawg60 Great music glad there is so much talent, Linda was amazing. Loved the music when I was younger but still find there is a ton of talent to keep music alive. Gotta love it.

  • @MadDawg60

Totally agree. These were the days when women really were women, not little girls.

  • Linda can sing anything: Opera, weird cerebral music with Philip Glass, jazz, Mexican music ,,Maybe the only jazz singer that got a CMA

  • @ishta You forgot Folk, Rock, Cajun, Country Western, Punk, Bluegrass, Pop, ...the list goes on and on...

  • 21 dislikes? Obviously third column infiltrators. I know that is too complicated for the vast majority of those on this website.

  • Her style is being replicated by youth today. History is repeating itself. It was an artist of her caliber that has influenced some of todays great artists such as Carrie Underwood etc.....Thanks

  • Yep, realy great , Singer!!

  • Can we trade in 100 Britney Spears if we cab have somene like Linda Rondstadt?

  • @climbnprana not even a billion of Britneys...

  • If Jesus himself would need to book a session in Heaven I think he would call Waddy to do the gig. Everyone else has.

  • tremenda cantante

  • ahh... the days when MTV actually played 24 hrs of videos, anyone remember yes thumbs up !

  • @lpgft And the music MTV played back in the days will lets just say at least half of it was considered to be pretty decent meaning good quality and listenable. Nowadays MTV is a channel of torture and crap!

  • @RussX5Z I know, right? MTV just sucks. My son had it on the other day and when I told him they used to play videos practically 24/7, he was in shock. I reminded him that the "M" in MTV stands for "Music", and he was, like, "Yeah, that's right." Sad. He tunes in to watch reality shows. Gah! They should just rename the channel.

  • Linda is terrific. She's got a thyroid problem which causes the weight gain.

  • @pete6688 remove the thyroid perhaps?

  • @pete6688 Yeah. The THYROID under her nose can't get enough food in it.

  • retour a l'année 1979 quand j'écoutais Claude Villers à la radio dans "marche ou rêve",quel bonheur!

  • I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet....!!!!!

  • I love Linda and all her songs - but this was a "tamed lame" Linda - all she was moving was her lefr arm (and her lips) - sorry, there was a small jump at the end !!

I saw her more active - looked better !!

  • back in 1984 The comedian Jim Carey had dated Linda.

  • beautiful old les paul there Waddy

  • So easy to fall in love with LR , piece of cake !!!

  • Wow, phenomenal live performance, vocals and instrumentals are all right on. The mixture of LInda's voice and natural beauty with the rockin' band is why I still love her music today.

  • Linda, of course. Also WADDY!!! its 1 of great history of music video we've seen.

  • I saw her in concert at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor (1977 or 1978)... Still, the best performance I have ever seen... period

  • I love this kind of songs....

    easy listening............

    smoooooooooooooooottthhhhh.....

  • Awesome!! 70's pop rock is the best or just 70's style of music that is.

  • Damn right it's easy. I just did it looking at this video. Love you, Linda.

  • There is no one like her and don't see any of the "new"talent every matching hers. I wish she would still do concerts. I miss seeing and hearing her fabulous voice.

  • Beautiful and Amazing LADY !!!! I Love her !!!!!

  • Looks like this was from the Atlanta concert Dec 01 1978

  • As always AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! Linda made the 70's Era just that much more memorable!!~Phenomenal voice 'n a dynamite personality to boot!!~Thank You Linda for the beauty 'n fun you have to us n the generations to come!!~'n thank you zepplin' 4 blessing us w/one of her great performances!~Keep Rockin In The Free World, Linda! 5 Star Rating of course!!

  • Stevie and Linda are 2 different "animals". Both have great voices and talent, and, looks. Stevie is,IMO,more unique, her time with Fleetwood Mac and solo were wonderful.

Linda's voice = Beautiful and powerful

Stevie's voice = Beautiful and unique

    One man's opinion.

  • Linda represented so much beauty and talent rolled into one package. It's sad that nothing out there today comes remotely close. Now it's all about onstage fireworks and thinly veiled strip tease by the likes of Britney, Janet, and Madonna. Wardrobe malfunction anyone?

  • Linda Ronstadt & Ann Wilson -- both were/are amazing!

  • This performance is a great example of how important backup vocals are. Love it!!

  • THIS SONG BELONGS TO BUDDY HOLLY!! So this is a cover..

  • @stradlin62

yeah and "Different Drum" belongs to Mike Nesmith; "Baby You've Been On My Mind" and "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" belong to Bob Dylan; and "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" belongs to Carole King... but sometimes you've just got to let someone else sing your song, man. And I'm not the only one who's glad out of his socks that Linda decided to wrap her chops around all these and more.

  • @djjstiff Amen! Linda appreciated good songwriting and new a good song when she heard it. She knew how to pick a song and make it hers. She sang the song like she wrote it and lived it and felt it. That is a gift! Most of the songs she sang were written by her close friends and associates or people she looked up to and was inspired by. Not every singer is a songwriter, And I'm sure any artist would be proud and privileged to have her sing their song!

  • @stradlin62 Buddy Holly would be so pleased that Linda did this song and some of his others. She is fabulous.

    Buddy Holly was great too.

  • @4carmarti, that is true! It is too bad Bud just did not get enough time.

  • linda has an unique wonderful voice, maybe more mainstream then stevie nicks, stevie has a more strong eccentric image and is more in rock'roll, both of them are wonderful. imao.

  • Some wrote that the back up singers are Waddy Wachtel (with the guitar) and Peter Asher.

Waddy is correct, but the other one I think is Warren Zevon

  • @juancito71 That's the thing. You have Waddy Wachtel and Warren Zevon doing backup. And on top of all that, the Linda Ronstadt voice. It's just pure gold.

  • @pytlozvejk1 I agree. Fabulous

  • Needs more cowbell.

  • Linda was sexy because she wasn't trying to be sexy. The skanks now try way to hard by dressing like a bunch of strippers.

  • @dsfddsgh Yes. Linda never looked forced or contrived, and she never disappointed. She would walk up to a microphone, look soulfully out at the crowd, and as soon as she opened her mouth, beautiful notes would just roll on out -- soft and breathy at times, and rip-rolling loud at others. Such a big voice in a little package. She picked really good tunes, too -- I love this genre done by her the best. She remains to this day one of my favorite female singers of all time.

  • @dsfddsgh bring back the 60 and 70s I say

  • @dsfddsgh Yeah, she looks like that girl who lived next door in high school. Grrrouwww!

  • @dsfddsgh I agree. Today's "divas" need to carry a portable stripper pole w/ them 'cause their major talent is taking off their clothes.

  • @MishuTaste Too many of these "divas" can't sing to save their lives. I heard Katy Perry on an awards show recently. Unbelievablly bad. Heard Rihanna the same night. Ughhhhhh....!

  • @Duck8107 They probably sounded bad 'cause the AutoTune wasn't working.

  • @dsfddsgh. Notice she didn't try to boob up like many do.

  • @dsfddsgh So true... I wish some of their fans were reading this, but they're probably watching Lady Gag-me videos instead!! :O)

  • @dsfddsgh So true! and so sad!

  • When I go over the sexiest women of all time....Linda is right up there with marilyn monroe, bettie page, catherine bach...all the bond chicks...I've got to stop or else I'll pass out...you get the idea

  • thats lowell george on keyboards any one else think so ?

  • I wish I could you back in time so I could get with her

  • There is rock and roll. I just turned 48 yrs old , there it is , see ? rok n' rol. Tanx to you

    Love in action.

  • This JULY 15th is "" LINDA RONSTADT DAY "" everywhere she has performed.

Let your local radio station know and soon. It's also her birthday and 64 years young.

  • Not only was she gorgeous, but she also looks as though she would be a blast to party or hang out with....very easy goin Im sure.

  • If you were around during this time, Linda absolutely ruled. She was the ultimate 70's rock chick. We all flipped out over her. She paved the way for rock chicks everywhere. Linda was the very first female singer to fill arenas on her own name. That was an impressive feat in its day. She was also the highest paid female singer during the 1970's...even above Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross. Linda was the bomb! Luv her.

  • so fucking easy :P

  • She sounds so great in this, and looks amazing! I starting work on my time machine. Today!

  • 我常常回來聽,真是百聽不厭,good song!~~~~~

  • One of the great voices of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • buena musica

  • That ending gives me chills. Waddy and Peter(Asher of Peter and Gordon) doing great backup on the harmony. I got to see her with this backup band and the pre Eagles. I think when I saw this tour Randy Meisner was the opening act. Good show from him too.

  • Waddy rules!

  • 好棒的老歌!~

  • 非常好聽的老歌,偶而我還會常常哼二句,回味這些老歌!~超棒的!~

  • Linda does a kick ass version of Buddy Holly's song

  • I love Linda!'s voice and presence! A real performer!

In regards to the comments about Stevie Nicks; I think the most under appreciated Fleetwood Mac singer is/was Christine McVie. Of all the Fleetwood Mac songs since they became mainstream (about 1975), I think those sung by Christine are the most powerful and moving. In my opinion, Nicks was not much more than fluff.

  • I sure am getting tired of all this "best this and best that" turning into a cow pie fest. The doctor says a little spank is good for sex, well all that verbal face slapin' doesn't make the music any better. Kinda stinks.

  • wow you all are soooo angry,go get laid sweetie,or ate.and you six2112 go jack off maybe you'll feel better!Cant call me a bitch I know I am. Takes a small man to talk trash to a woman even smaller in the equipment area, haha!

  • No onw compares to Stevie, not even close!!!Sen her in Dallas in 2007 she still has it and always will.

  • This video is so cool.

  • That asshole is a sensational guitarist Waddy Wachtel who played with alot of So. Cal rock band such as warren Zevon,Jackson Browne Etc.

  • @Bloemecoltfan well said

  • Yeah you're right,he played that great slide solo on Werewolfs of London...Think he was a bigtime session player in LA in the 70's to.

  • The dude is Mr.waddy Wachtel..one of the best guitar (Dudes) ever.He has played with countless mega talents and for all his talent, is nothing less then a humble and nice guy.

  • @blackxaxe Good call on Waddy... EVERYBODY from Adam Sandler to Warren Zevon used him in the studio and live tours too...but far as I know he never had a band of his own.

  • @blackxaxe waddy is stevie nicks touring guitarist and band leader..that says something..

  • @Ladiestreat Thank you for proving that you are a moron and know nothing about music.

  • Whatever perm head is god damn asshole. I stand by my convictions.

  • Don't be angry just because you're over 40, you still live with your parents and you still have your Styx and REO Speedwagon posters up on your bedrooom wall.

  • Go masturbate to Geddy Lee and perm head tossing each others salads. I'm sorry I made fun of your wannabe boyfriend.

  • Your mom is calling you ....she made you a grilled cheese sandwich and cut the crust off Bitch.

  • How dare you accuse my mom of cutting the crust off of my grilled cheese sandwiches you cocksucker!

I like crust on my fucking grilled cheese sandwich so suck my fat American dick you communist fuck!

Look I already said I was sorry for making fun of your boyfriend. Its just I don't look at the world from the gay perspective so I don't know what is offensive to you people and what isn't.

If I had to be gay perm head and Geddy Lee would be my first two choices for assbanging fury.

  • All bow before Saint Linda!

  • Watch a live concert today and your lucky to be able to tell what song they are singing. Linda shows us here that layering vocals isn't needed. Throw out your MAC and let Linda show you how it is done.

  • she is still beatuifull

  • Just so - just older, but she still has "it"....

  • uh...like why isn't Linda's face in the facebook thumbnail???

  • Love the way her voice rises just before the final 'fall in love'.

  • Isn't that Peter Asher on backing vocals?

  • Maybe. I know that's Waddy on the guitar.

  • Could be Peter Asher, but I thought it was Andrew Gold. He was in her band for a long time.

  • I'm thinking more Peter Asher. Both have red hair, but Andrew is thinner and has a beard. Peter spent so much time behind the scenes as her producer, just seems like she said come out and sing with me.

  • She was hot back in the day. I saw a video of her on youtube arguing with Robbin Givens. Linda looks like she weighs about 400 pounds. She looks hideous now.

  • @MrRatman1960 Appropriate name for a nasty prick, I guess. Although perhaps you were looking at a different video - perhaps one of your wife or sister, because Linda is still as cool as she was years ago.

  • @lelboy Appropriate name for a (boy) who feels safe talking shit from so far away. Bet you're sitting in front of your monitor holding a dainty little tea cup with your pinky finger extended. LOL...You insult my wife and sister? You're an idiot. I'm not married, dumb ass, and I dont have any sisters. You never disagreed with my comment. I never said she was'nt cool. I said she is fat, and she is.

  • Oh MrRatman1960..... I have a few years on you (boy?) and been around the block a few times, so I'm more than able to see when someone's being plain rude. Clearly you're too dumb to realise the comments about real or imagined sisters or mothers was a piss-take; the comment about you looking at some other video wasn't though. She's not fat and if that's how you imagine someone looks who weighs 400 pounds, then you clearly do have shit in your eye. Don't be rude if you don't like it back - twat.

  • Your grammar and spelling is pathetic. You typed (realise?) The correct spelling is.... realize. The bitch is fat. You cant write and spell properly.

  • I'm not sure, MrRatman, why I'm bothering to reply - I guess it just amuses me to aggravate a half-wit. MY grammar and spelling? Would'nt? What the fuck does that say? Oh, you mean "wouldn't": clearly you don't understand apostrophes. Realise is correct - it's you lot who bastardised "our" English, what with that prick Webster's dictionary. Mind you with an ex-president who thought you pronounced nuclear "nukular" and the strange way you pronounce "aluminium" and "laboratory" anything goes......

  • @lelboy My comment is true. If the truth upsets you, that's not my concern. You would'nt talk shit if you were near me. You would'nt say anything if I beat your faggot ass in to the ground.

  • Nah, not true - just rude. Geez, you rednecks are all the same - all mouth, but nothing between your legs or ears. Sad really, but there you go....

  • Buddy Holly would have been proud to hear his song done like this.

  • AWSOME ................... :) x

  • unlike kylie, madonna, and brittany, linda can sing

  • I think Linda would understand exactly what you mean. After all, they are the goddess. Why wouldn't we be inspired? Bet they had their fun.

  • @machiaveliyoohoo C'mon man, "bogan"? Thats not a compliment. That's a f'n insult. She graduated HS and went to the University of AZ. That's probably better than you ever did in your life. She learned enough, how to make multi-millions with her voice. Have you made millions with you witty comments, or any other half assed skill you may have? I'm not giving you a thumbs down, I'm giving you a YOUR A FU*king AHOLE vote.

  • @machiaveliyoohoo I agree. She is sexy as hell!

  • @machiaveliyoohoo seems Stevie has at least avoided letting herself go to the extent of Linda...guess she started eating flour tortillas "de mi' padre'.

  • @rosskstar How she looks doesn't reflect on her singing. I would love to see her in concert again.

  • You spoke the truth brother!

  • yeeaahh nice song :)

  • k buena rolaaaa yeahhhhh........:):):):)

  • It was an awesome concert. I was going to UGA at the time and was good friends with a guy who knew Alex Cooley, who was the big promoter in Atlanta at the time. I was able to go back stage of this concert. Did not get to meet Linda, but for me, at 21, I thought it was the coolest thing to happen in my life at the time.

  • Incredible voice...beautiful woman

  • SO EASY TO LISTEN TO !

    Joy.

  • That's Don Grolnick on the keys. Rest in peace Don, and thanks for Hearts & Numbers.

  • LOL, this makes me smile everytime.. this was one of my favorite songs as a kid, before I even know what the lines meant.. :-)

  • what year was that?

  • I believe it was 1977 in Atlanta, GA.

    Dude! I was there!

  • ...good --old--tune..A-plus

  • i thought this was a version of Guns n Roses....i was wrong

  • Absolute. Quality.

Don't miss the clip of Linda performing "Tumbling Dice" at the same concert (Atlanta 1977).

  • Is that just a great ending or what!

  • hahahaha. I agree!!

  • Who is the guitarist? Ive seen him a lot in the 70's.

  • Waddy Wachtel

  • Kevy his name is Waddy Wachtel, he worked with people from linda ronstadt to warren zevon jackson browne don henley, he was even in a backup band for keith richards.
