Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite RPGs of all time! I also love the New Game+ mode, where you can start a new game with all the levels, items, and weapons that you've acquired (after completing the game the first time). In addition, it's awesome that there are 13+ endings to the game (the 14th ending was added in the DS version). Out of all the versions that I've played, I'd say that the SNES and DS ones are the best!
I respect you calling it Final Fantasy III as it was originally released as that in the states, but you need to clarify it is actually Final Fantasy VI as the real Final Fantasy III is on the DS.

Review was fine except for the rant about the switching party members. I believe the game explains how and why its suppose to be that way. And its 3 characters is normal for an RPG so don't go too deep into that.

If you force yourself through the beginning, you'll find a completely unique experience with awesome story, tons of pop culture references to the 90s, and one of the best RPG soundtracks of all time.

I hate to admit it, but not everyone does like EarthBound. But saying it's over-rated all because you don't like it and everyone else does? That's not right. That's like if I said the Legend of Zelda is overrated all because I don't prefer it. (I'm more of a Metroid guy, really.)

Since you only rented it, I'm assuming you never saw the esper system? I liked FF3 until the esper system came along, then I gradually began to hate the game. But Chrono Trigger is still my favorite game of all time. I don't think there's an RPG out there that even comes close to Chrono Trigger's perfection.

@Yamtendo The only problem is, it's hard (if not impossible) to find another as good as this one. If you're looking for classic RPG's I'd recommend Mario RPG, FF3(6), Secret of Mana. They aren't as good as CT but all great games and worth playing over any number of times.

Not as good as CT like you say, but I am WAY impressed. I like how each character has such a unique skill, like Sabin's combos, Shadow's throw, and Cyan's sword techs. @frostare those too, but the whole continuing battle system with no boring extreme pauses, the sense of urgency, and a story that could be epic, but be fully contained in one game, not to mention all the different dual and triple techs. And leveling up etc is WAY easier, and more accessible. There's alot more, which is why I kept my first comment simple. lol
@hermosapeach Nope. This is the SNES version, the very first version, and the console was not capable of full motion video. There was a Playstation version though, which uses CDs, and was capable of full motion video, thus that's where the FMV cutscenes come from in the DS version. There is though one cutscene I found missing oddly, and that was the scene to introduce the beginning of the game, not the game intro.

@hermosapeach I actually only played the DS one. I looked up the differences, and I can tell you that the DS version is the best. The ability to navigate the menus quicker and having extra content and endings makes it more worthwhile. It might be cheaper for you though to get the VC version though. 8 bucks compared to 100 bucks for one game? Not a chance. But remember that I got a DS Lite in 2008 so it's different. For you, save yourself the money and just get the SNES version on the Wii VC.
@dak3089 there is also a version for PSX, but I don't recommend it as it has some painfully long load times. But that would be better than not playing it at all if you have no other option. Also...emulators
Great work as always, but do you think you could acknowledge the point cost for oversea viewers? Over here in Europe, CT was never released on SNES so the price would be 100 points more expensive.
I ordered the original NES game, Dragon Quest, for five bucks. I came from playing the EXCELLENT Dragon Quest IX, thinking "How different can it be?" It is MUCH harder. I almost thought that i was playing Ninja Reflex!

This is one of the best RPGs out there. Have finished the game like 5-6 times both on Snes and on the DS, yet there is something that gets me to play it again and again and again. Thats proof that this is one of the best games ever made. some RPGs I play once and then I dont have the patience to play through them again a second time.
i have this on the wii but i'm looking forward to the psn version.i'm still on the fence about playing it in new game +. is there anything additional to it besides having your weapons and learned techs. FYI I already have all the optional quests done.
the side quests near the end of the game was the only confusing part imo. there was no direction, but u can do any of the quests in your order before advancing.
@AQreviews OK, thanks. I have SMW for VC, and I hate the layout they chose for GC controller. I feel like we should be able to choose the button setup we want to use, without having to buy another controller. Oh, well, I love Nintendo anyway.
@insanehuman19 Yes, but there are interestingly some games that allowed you to change the controls IN-GAME, and it was fairly well mapped to Gamecube controller. e.g Super Metroid. You just have to hope certain old games had that option.
FF3 was only released in Japan for the NES and in English ONLY on the DS

I ordered the original NES game, Dragon Quest, for five bucks. I came from playing the EXCELLENT Dragon Quest IX, thinking "How different can it be?" It is MUCH harder. I almost thought that i was playing Ninja Reflex!

Chrono Trigger= Possibly my favorite game of all time if not in the top 3 for sure! A must Buy like right when you finish reading this comment. GO BUY IT! Weither the snes, Ps1, DS or VC version their all WIN! oh and Square Enix MAKE A NEW ONE!

First: Im a HUGE RPG fan!
This is one of the best RPGs out there. Have finished the game like 5-6 times both on Snes and on the DS, yet there is something that gets me to play it again and again and again. Thats proof that this is one of the best games ever made. some RPGs I play once and then I dont have the patience to play through them again a second time.

i have this on the wii but i'm looking forward to the psn version.i'm still on the fence about playing it in new game +. is there anything additional to it besides having your weapons and learned techs. FYI I already have all the optional quests done.

The PC did these kind of RPG's much better at the time. This game ain't bad but there's better RPG's to spend your money on.

the side quests near the end of the game was the only confusing part imo. there was no direction, but u can do any of the quests in your order before advancing.

@AQreviews OK, thanks. I have SMW for VC, and I hate the layout they chose for GC controller. I feel like we should be able to choose the button setup we want to use, without having to buy another controller. Oh, well, I love Nintendo anyway.

@insanehuman19 Yes, but there are interestingly some games that allowed you to change the controls IN-GAME, and it was fairly well mapped to Gamecube controller. e.g Super Metroid. You just have to hope certain old games had that option.
