  • Epic ending...

  • i was not expecting someone would separate this lovely part from the song. thanks for doing that for me :)

  • So.... so very beautiful.

  • Its was great. Thanks for this incredible job!

  • WHY THE DISLIKES, WHY!?!?!?!?!

  • @HamburgerSoVirsla Could it be because it's just another unoriginal DT rehash? I'm thinking about liking it though. I'm just surprised that it wasn't made by Thiago Campos.

  • @MIKEPORTNOYING Dont't be like that ;) It's a beautiful song.

  • the intro of this video sounds like the theme for Halloween the scary movie lol

  • nicely made mate ;)

  • noob,full song or gtfo!!

  • A nightmare to remember is the best Dream Theater's song until this day....this fragment is magic

  • @locoheavy85 i don t think so , the dream theater s best album , were imagens and the words and awake , for sure no other future dream theater s album will beat imagens and the words and awake

  • @abelrc I guess that's just an opinion, my favorite albums are Scenes From a Memory and Train of Thought.. Personally, I hate Awake..

  • This is actually a really nice "remix" if I may say it is one :p

Very nice job mreccius ! Favorited ^^

  • thumphs up for the stranger who's dancing on his own

  • A nightmare to remember is probably (at least near to) the best song of Dream Theater.

Someone knows why LaBrie and the beeps are missing in the beginning of this part of this version? I personally like that version better, though this is still amazing :D

  • @nenissaK

Agrre, this is the best song of dream theater

  • @locoheavy85

    agree

  • @nenissaK This and Octavarium are my favorite DT songs, but I'm still a very new fan.

  • lovely part

  • shouldve been its own song...

  • this is the best part in a nightmare to remember

  • @0007bobert yeah man

  • I dont want a thousand haters saying that it is a totaly different song but it reminds me of dear agony by breaking benjamin i love both

  • 2.45 comes before the beginning of the song, but it doesn't matter, the song is one the best of the decade

  • a nightmare to remember

  • weres the lyrics?

  • Good job :D.

  • the origonal song is great, is excellent . but the way you edited sucks, this is horrible. the original song is "a nightmare to remember"

  • To be quite honest, this is lame.

Two choruses were more than enough in the 16min original song and you really fucked it up putting three in an only 5 minutes piece... Besides it sounds way too repetitive.

Sorry everyone who will dislike this comment but this really does suck.

  • @MaximumPayne12 Yeah this is edited, that usually sucks..Sorry, just sounds like a radio version. I like the hole song whatever..A friend borrowed my CD stuck it in his car stereo to listen on the way home, decided to stop at a 7eleven two girls asked him if he could give them ride home, he lets them get in the car while he goes inside the store comes back out his car is gone.. Lucky some biker friends favored him, found his car 8 hours later but my dream theater CD gone.

  • i wish the song was just this... the rest of it was kinda mediocre, i think. didnt care for mike's little metal moment, either. one thing i wont miss :p

  • I feel like I've heard this song before haha

  • people say dreamtheater is bad or something are LOSERS=UNKNOWN=MUSIC

  • great edit man!! this is def my favorite part of the song and probably the album.. along with the beginning/ending of tuscany and that sick ass solo at the end of the shattered fortress

  • Thank you for setting this apart from the rest of the song. It's so different musically and as good as it is along with the epic ANTR it's great by itself.

  • ...Is it possible to be in love with a voice? Because I am. <3

  • @dfttw82

no you dumb-butt. look up a pentagram, it looks nothing like the Dream Theater logo lol.

  • why? Dream theater, eyes illuminati's. In album front side. why? tell me! why?

por quê? Dream Theater, olhos Illuminatis. Na parte da frente do álbum. por quê? diga-me! por quê?

  • @dfttw82 I think they like the misterious aspects of things of universe, death, love and many topics too.

  • @dfttw82 I know this post is old, but the Illuminati eye is there because of the song "A Rite of Passage" which is about them. - Eu sei que esse comentário é antigo, mas o olho Illuminati esta na capa por causa da música "A Rite of Passage" que fala sobre eles.

  • In peaceful sedation I lay half awake and all of the panic inside starts to fade. Hopelessly drifting, bathing in beautiful agony.

    Epic.

  • The drums get very quiet when the chorus starts.

  • ... This is the single most beautiful moment in Dream Theater history.

  • well it s odd because in this music wither at times they name some parts of biblical passages , like turning the water into wine , what are they supposed to say ??and also that dollar bill drawing in the conner of their album cover . what do dream theater intend to convey by putting this satanic symbol in their album cover??

  • @abelrc Satanic symbol?

  • @abelrc If you are talking about the Majesty symbol then you really need to do your research.

The Majesty symbol was created by Charlie Dominici, it's a reworked version of Mary, Queen of Scots' mark.

  • @abelrc their not a satanic band...

  • @MrGamerBazer Yeah. In fact; JP, JM, JLB are Christian and JR is Jewish. I'm just glad that they don't put Christian lyrics in their songs, except in "I Walk Beside You", which is about Jesus.

  • @fingerboy18 Who told you "I Walk Beside You" is about JC?

  • My fav are:

    -Scenes from a memory

    -Awake - Images and words

    - Octavarium.

  • Falling into infinity is a great album too though

  • My top 3 favorite DT albums have to BCASL, Octavarium, and Train of Thought. Metropolis Part 2 comes close though

  • @BloodHarvest21 To me it is:

    - Metropolis part 2

    - Images and Words

    - Train of Thought

  • @goodygoody23 who the hell though that the count of Tuscany is corny???

  • THumb for you, my good man!

  • a nightmare to remember!

  • I wish this was the one on the album and not the original.

  • this part of the song actually has one of my most favorite set of lyrics and melody out of any DT song

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing! Beautiful!

  • very relaxing part

  • What is with all the lyric talk. Who cares.

  • FYI the song is called Nightmare to Remember!

  • @RfMdrummer no it's not

  • Best part of A Nightmare to Remember!

  • krásne :) tiez milujem tuto cast :-*

  • I think this is the best part of the entire album along with the intro to The Count of Tuscany.

  • @usernamessuck58 plus the whole outro of count of tuscany?

  • @nokroblosho I would say that but the lyrics in the end are just too cheesy to take seriously.

  • @usernamessuck58 fair point "could this be the end?" haha

  • @usernamessuck58 the outro of The Count of Tuscany is also pretty good!

  • from witch album is this song?

  • @winaldo79

it's a part of the song "a nightmare to remember" from the album "black clouds and silver linings".

  • @AeroMetalMoe This is a partial instrumental version of the part of "a nightmare to remember", not all of it is in there

  • Comment removed

  • great song and one of my favourite band dream theater!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How can anyone think the lyrics are bad in this album? People need to research this stuff before they decide that Wither makes no sense or that The Count of Tuscany is corny.

  • @goodygoody23 The problem is that people judge the entire album's lyrics based on the Count of Tuscany.

I personally think the Count of Tuscany was the worst DT song in terms of lyrics. It's hard to take a song seriously while hearing 'LET ME INTRODUCE! MY BROTHER! A BEARDED GENTLEMAN! HISTORIAN!'

Now, I don't really have a problem with all the other lyrics aside from Mike's *singing* in this song.

I literally laughed when I heard his 'RAAAAARRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!' during A nightmare to Remember.

  • @usernamessuck58 Portnoy's vocals on this album were unnecessary and overwhelmingly corny. Especially in A Nightmare To Remember. Apart from "the scary voice" lyrically The Count of Tuscany and A Nightmare to Remember tell some good stories.

  • @goodygoody23 Good stories yes, but I think the way the former was written in a way that was just a bit silly. The performances by James were great in Tuscany, but what he was saying can't be taken seriously.

A Nightmare to Remember was both fantastically written and sang... well, aside from Portnoy's part.

  • @usernamessuck58 I just realized how poorly worded part of my first statement was.

I think the way the former was written was just a bit silly.

    Fixed.

  • @goodygoody23 Uh, the count is most CERTAINLY corny. I don't care about the story of the song. It's just awkwardly written and (yes) bad.

(great song in all other regards, though)

  • @goodygoody23 The lyrics to Count of Tuscany are corny, as are the lyrics to Wither.

  • @brothir I wanna see you write better lyrics. Although that would require you to take your hand out of your pants and turn off the gay porn. Poser

  • @goodygoody23 Hopefully my band'll get around to record some stuff at some point in the future. I'll post it on YouTube and you can judge for yourself :-)

  • @brothir Fair enough

  • @goodygoody23

    PRECISELY!!

  • @goodygoody23

    PRECISELY!!

  • 4 LUGLIO A ROMA!!! IO CI VADO!!!

  • I know I love this part too. I keep replaying it.

  • This is one of the greatest sections written in the last dream theater albums so far

  • I personally love the lyrics, if you think out about the real meaning of them, maybe it's stale to think about it, but we're all creative minds and the whole album grants you even more the chance of create metaphors according to your likenings!

  • Podia deixar o James cantando igual.

  • Its all about the riff

  • Beautiful but the end is kinda like someone slammed this ballad shut.

    Hard.

  • @TheMetalRiffer

If you read the comment its a portion from A Nightmare to Remember look up a video for the whole song, it goes for roughly 16m

  • I really enjoy what you've done here. I was kind of hoping to see more on your channel :P

  • It's the best album :P Nice job Dream theater ^^

  • It started to get really interesting at 2.30 :D then you should have ended it in a bit more interesting way >: this is kinda like. CHOP. The end >: but I also really wished they'd make a whole song out of that bit :D

  • @NerfenLied um sometimes yea? both lyricsand music ya goof

  • @NerfenLied: YES.

  • @NerfenLied

Have you listened to Octavarium? I mean the whole album AND the song.

You have missed half of it if you didn't at least pay some attention to the lyrics.

The lyrics are half of what makes that album perfect.

Yes I lsten to the lyrics. Listening to them makes the DT-songs even more magnificent.

You, my friend, have just been thumbed down.

  • @NerfenLied People DON'T listen to music for the lyrics, seriously? Lyrics are half of what makes a song what it is. Sure, catchy musical phrases and technical proficiency are great, and that's why there are very successful instrumental acts out there built to show off their talent. But in a lot of bands, Dream Theater especially, the lyrics are a huge part. Every single song on this album (save A Rite of Passage) was written from past experience by Petrucci and Portnoy. Lyrics are important.

  • @blargyblargster We know lyrics are important, but what about if you listen to someone just talking stuff without a melody? Or a melody that just you wouldn't like. Not cool.

  • @cacadevaca70 Amelodic/growl/scream vocals can work well if there's melodic guitars or synths going on simultaniously or something

  • Wauuuuu what is this song !!!! Dream have no limits to make better music each time !!

  • this is pretty sweet. only problem i feel was it seemed a little choppy during the verse you edited, but i can see how that would happen. all in all, great job, and try with some other songs there's so much potential for crazy cool edits in DT

  • This part & Count of Tuscany are only worth from this album :)

  • Very well done mreccius, truly was my favorite section of the song, got an mp3 download of this you would like to share? By the way the remastering of the levels is spot on, this is truly an incredible job you've done, keep up the good work.

  • the only decent part of this album

  • @polarispill psh

  • demasiado buena, demasiado.........

  • lol it's nightmare to remember....

  • awesome job!

  • would be cooler with original tempo, but i also kinda like this way

  • Which the whole song was like this. The rest is shit.

  • @SpaceDyeDream ignorant.

  • @SpaceDyeDream You're shit. Nothing from dream theater is lesser than a masterpiece.

  • "...And all of the panic starts to fade..."

  • I believe dream theater did get a new singer. Not to sure if thats correct, but i definately like the vocals on this one!

  • @BellaChellaaa well, you are wrong

  • @BellaChellaaa and the vocals are fantastic indeed yes oh yes OHO

  • @BellaChellaaa Nope. James is still singing.

  • Longtime DT fan. This song is so different, they convey so much, and make me think of after forever. Because they convince me I will still be able to enjoy this for millions of years......

  • this pic including lot of MASONIC symbol first the moon and the sun light on the top door..the one eye top the triangle left side , the raven which the most public ..and you can see on the ground the 2 triangles one is reversed the other..if you don't believe me or dont know what's the MASONIC means just search about it here in youtube !!

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>peace<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< :)

  • Wonderful!! That's one of the best parts of this song but i miss James voice's,all the chorus from DT song's are blessed by his voice, pay atention for this, pull me under, take the time, another day,as i am,this dying soul, hollow years, spirits carries on,these walls etc..

  • the first time you hear this song you think that its not so good...but im wrong here, its a super beautifull song..well done dreamtheater ;-)

  • normally dont like these bands but this is amazing i mean i cant get it out of my head but thats good

  • i love 0:43

  • THIS WAS AMAZING!!!!! GREAT JOB MAN!

  • i love this part of this song.

  • @davidoff013 no thanks man. you can try to justify it if you want, but stealing is stealing. seriously, "what if downloading the album leads you to buying the album?"... tell me you're smarter than that? why would you pay for something that you already have? it's stealing and it's wrong. just because it's not illegal in your country, doesn't mean you're immune from common courtesy, or moral fortitude. that's how it is

  • @LeGeNdArY12587 I have paid for albums after I had downloaded them, simply because I just HAD to own a copy. Small bands should be thankful for file exchanges on the Internet, it boosts their popularity big time. Which in return leads to higher sales. I'm not trying to justify downloading, I'm just summarizing the conclusions of a major research on the effects downloading has on the industry. They try to make us believe it has a big impact, but in fact, it doesn't. =)

  • @LeGeNdArY12587

That's actually not how it is. I am a recording and performing musician. It would actually be a flattering thing if thousands of people were downloading my songs. I'm already making money off of performing and merchandise. You don't realize that if music were accessible for free, then it boosts popularity for the band, and ends up getting the band more money for shows and merchandise sales. Do you know how many people are willing to blow $25 on a shirt at a show? A lot.

  • @LeGeNdArY12587 I've bought 3 of DT's albums because I downloaded this album first and liked it

  • The lyrics reminds me of Medicate (Awakening) from Octavarium. =)

  • Thanks for the bass...DT basically wrote out Myung on this album.

  • awesomeeee!!! La brie rocks on the vocals

  • I totally feel you mreccius! You did an excellent job! You don't know how many times I wished Dream Theater didn't fuck up a beautiful song just to show off their talents, or bust into some bullshit vaudeville keyboard solo. I stick with Dream Theater for their talent at sweeping me up into the most amazing emotion i've ever felt, but I curse them for totally fucking up most songs with solos that don't even fucking fit the mood.

  • you are right, this is the best part of the song, and i always wanted to listen only to this

  • is my favorite part to

    is like

    magic!

it takes me to another world

  • love this song

  • This song is based off of James going into a car crash when he was little

  • @MegaSteakburger Actually. it's about a Petrucci's car accident he had..

  • @MegaSteakburger it was Petrucci ;)

wonderful song.. one of the best things they've ever written..

  • @MegaSteakburger

    John Petrucci, not James.

  • Seriously, what is wrong with you people.....arguing online about shit no one gives a fuck about with total strangers ...just enjoy the music anyway you can....My god this band is amazing(i think y'all should thank God they all met and formed DT) and keep your petty opinions to yourselves when confronted by greatness!

  • that was sick! i love that its different than in Nightmare to remember. some of the elements in this song are suppressed greatly in nightmare. great job!

  • Poetry made sound.

  • Hoi Nienke! :D

  • Great Job with this, i find myself skipping through a nightmare to remember so i can listen to this part.

  • horrible lirycally ? this album has some of the most meaningful lyrics that i have heard i mean each one of the tracks have a real mening for example the best of times wich is for the dead of mike portnoy's father and i personally prefer that than every other fictional lyric in any album

  • Yog, come back when you have learned a little about music theory and history. The objective fact is that DT are artists of the highest order, and they show it much more on their comprehensive albums than they do on their metal-convention-only ones that you prefer. I'd venture that you do that because you're too pussy to admit that you DON'T know anything substantial about music but still want to be cool- so you come on here and trash broader, less-myopic people for not being "hardcore".

  • @YogSothothOfGuitars Nobody cares if you study music or not. I'am a musician and I prefer Images and Words or Metropolis pt2 to Awake or Octavarium.

  • @YogSothothOfGuitars, studying music doesn't count if its music 101 at the local community college. i've played classical piano for 8 years, competed and won multiple competitions with it, play guitar, and drums. i drum to this stuff. this album was amazing. no doubt. its different than say awake or octivarium, but by no means worse. before u run ur mouth at ppl, open ur mind you ass.

  • @PhantomDarkTheif No one cares about your opinion, so refrain from posting it.

  • @YogSothothOfGuitars i should be saying the same to you. i obviously have the rest of the comments on my side.. so... ya.. gtfo

  • @Nignok i totally agree 100%. they are gods at their craft, in both performance and in writing / theory. they're musical minds are HIGH above the average being.

  • Lyrically, maybe. Musically, definately not. I think this was their best album in a while in terms of music.

  • Wrong, SFAM was far better than anything on BC & SL

  • Yes, SFAM is a masterpiece, but I said "in a while", and by that I mean like Train of Thought and forward.

  • you're a fucking retard. the lyrics on this album actually had real importance to the band members (as opposed to Systematic Chaos's fictional lyrics amoung others. This was about a car accident john petrucci had experience with. i believe at this part he is reflecting on his experience in the hospital. and lyrics aside, the music was spectacular on this album!
