this just shows that american idol is a popularity contest. He was a much, much better singer than kris allen but kris allen wasnt goth. kris allen was a hot, lovable dude cookie cutter american boy. People voted him not because he was an amazing singer, but because he was hot.
Adam was a much better singer, and if american idol was actually a singing contest and not a popularity contest, he would have won.
