Aaron, how long did you take to master this piece? The interpretation's simply lovely! What pieces are you working on right now? I look forward to seeing more of your performances!
I'm glad you like my interpretation, as it was quite difficult for me to learn the interpretation of this piece! Overall, it probably took me about eight or nine months to learn the piece and get the interpretation to the level it was in this video.
Aaron, I love all 3 parts of this competition. Is this the competition you won that led to your performance at Carnigi(I know i spelt that wrong)hall?
I also appreciate you reply to comments people make-you are of the very few people on you tube who does this.
This is not the competition that led to me performing at Carnegie Hall; the competition that led to my performance at Carnegie Hall was the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition. Thanks for your kind words and for watching my video!
I'm so sorry for the late reply; I don't know how I missed your comment. Rubinstein is one of my favorite pianists and one of the best of all-time, so your compliment is deeply appreciated. Thank you so much for your unbelievably supportive words!
Thank you so much for your continuing support and compliments! I'm currently working on a Chopin Etude, Chopin Scherzo, Haydn Sonata, and a Bach Prelude and Fugue. I spent some time this summer working on the Mendelssohn piano trio, but I have since moved on from it. Also, thanks for the birthday wishes!
Keep up with your composing, Aaron. I look forward to hearing your compositions on Youtube. And, of course, I look forward to continuing to hear your other performances !!
Despite its harmonicaly bland opening there are many intense moments in the "Raindrop" Prelude. Chopin wrote it in a damp, draughty former monastery when he was racked with physical and mental pain. I respect your interpretation emphasising the steadiness of the raindrops. I myself would make much more of 0.41, 0.51 and 1.01 etc. The "Minute" waltz was my first "virtuoso" piece. The other two waltzes in op 64 combine with it to make a very nice grouping. One rarely hears the exquisite Ab.
how did you do in this competition just wondering cause i am twelve and currently playing rondo all turca for fun and my next piece will most likely be Rondo cappriccioso by mendelssohn what are you working on right now?
This competition required 45 minutes of solo music and I placed second in it. Currently, I am working on Prokofiev Concerto No. 3, a Scarlatti Sonata, Un Sospiro by Liszt, Beethoven Sonata Op. 2, No. 3, a piece by Bolcom, Chopin Scherzo No. 1, and Desperate Measures by Muscinzski.
Lovely! Very similar, I think, to Martha Argerich's tempo and interpretation. This is played very well... just the right balance between the quieter and louder tones. So typical of Chopin to make sure both voices are present. Long live his Fantasie-Impromtu! :)
Thank you so much for your compliments on my interpretation of the piece! I enjoy much of Argerich's recordings, so I really appreciate you comparing me to her! I really like the Fantasy-Impromptu as well!
From the last couple of comments, i noticed that you write your own music! I would love to hear some of them, so if you have time, put some of your own pieces on Youtube. By the way, great playing, i should try adding some of your interpretation into my own music!
I do write my own music when I have time, and my most current piece that I am working on is a short 2 minute March. I hope to finish it soon, and if I think it is good enough I will put it on YouTube. I'm glad that you like my interpretation of the music!
ooooh Chopin's prélude op.28 n.15... it makes me cry every time I listen to it T.T And you play wonderfully though it's a bit fast for my taste but it's wonderful :)
I hope you have fun learning the Raindrop Prelude! Actually, I thought that the Minute Waltz was much easier than the Raindrop Prelude because the only really hard part of it was getting it to a fast speed.
i just wonder if you write original music or if you just stick to the master composers and classical? i find it amazing that your mind can remember all of those changes and passages... and even more incredible that you have the dexterity in your hands (and feet) to make it happen. i will stick with mediocre guitar playing for 21 years and counting. you are going to make alot of money with music kid, dont get in any hay baling or tree shredding accidents or you will be playing accordion;)
this is a great piece i love it u played it very well if i had money to spend i would hire you to play at my friends wedding if they ever set a date but i just cant remember the piece that would sound great i had it on the tip of my tounge a second ago now i cant remember it i hate that but yea i would hire u
Aaron, do you know how to play the waltz No. 7 in C sharp minor by Chopin per chance? I would absolutely love it if you could learn it. Its my goal to learn it this year
Sorry, I don't know that particular waltz and can't learn it right now. I am busy working on a difficult Brahms and Rachmaninoff piece for an upcoming competition. Thanks for the request though!
I found the the right hand accompaniment in the 2nd section of the Chopin prelude (when the left hand played the melody) a little bit distracting. That is a personal opinion, I dare say you may have had your own reason for doing so.
Great playing! I hope to see further success in the international arena.
Thank you for your comments. Yes, I agree, the right hand was a little bit distracting. I personally think that the Chopin prelude was my weakest piece of this video.
ahaha Aaron you're awesome keep it up. I wish i were half as good as you.(played piano for 10+ years, quit recently due to school) anyways post more videos your music is truly amazing :)
Intelligent and talented !
