  • Ferguson: I hopefully will join you in being an elected Libertarian in California

    Chuck Baldwin = Theocracy

  • i hope ron paul endorses him or libertarians will have a hard time winning

  • ron paul won't and shouldn't endorse anyone for the same reason he didn't run 3rd party

but Bob Barr will still do good, don't worry

  • Gee... Didnt' Bob Barr vote FOR the Patriot Act? ... Is that "Libertarian"?

    ♥i♥a La RON PAUL R3♥OLUCION!!!

    Nothing comes close! =)

  • Indeed he did. But I think he would be the first to tell you that it was a mistake. At any rate, he seems to have convinced the LP that his change of heart on the matter is sincere.

I agree that he's not on the same level as Ron Paul, but as I compare his stands on the major issues of this campaign with those of the "Big 3," it's becoming obvious to me that he is a better choice. Not perfect, but worth supporting in my view.

  • Thanks. I agree but that is the same argument I hear for supporting the lesser of two (or three) evils. I'm not trying to start a fight. I have no interest in that stuff. God knows there are enough of those. I simply am trying to speak what I hear. Thank you for sharing your views. I truly appreciate it.

  • Your point is well taken. But I think there is a difference between voting for someone in spite of significant disagreements, and voting for someone who is good, but not perfect.

I agree with most of the positions that I've heard Barr articulate since becoming a libertarian. He's good on gov't spending, privacy, foreign intervention, the war on drugs, etc.

The main question is, Would freedom gain or lose ground under a Barr administration?

  • Thanks again. I'm not sure I believe that Barr will do that. I don't fully trust him. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt what I get with RP. I know that the movement & the people who I've met that support Dr. Paul are the best bunch of people I've ever met in my entire life. I trust that more than I trust any lawyer. I like to know that what I see is what I get. RP is working within the party, to build back what they took away from us the same way they did it to us... collectively.

  • The issue of trust has me a bit on edge also.

Something else I would like explained is that, according to his own website, "He was an official with the CIA (1971-78)" I don't see the CIA as being the most upstanding crowd to be hanging around with. What was he doing for them?

  • He was pretty young at the time. He was probably an analyst or something, certainly not a high level official. In his youth, he spent time in several foreign countries (Iraq, Iran, Peru). Maybe the CIA was interested in his language abilities or his insider knowledge of those places.

  • Your concern is certainly understandable, and I agree with your point about RP. I'll be interested to see whom RP will endorse after the RNC, if anyone.

Bob Barr certainly doesn't have a 30+ year record of speaking about the issues that RP has brought to our attention in the last year. I would be nice to know what he thinks about BB.

But we can't know, at least not for now, but I will just point out that BB endorsed RP at the CPAC convention back in Feb., though I can't find video of it...

  • Whatever my vote is, it will be an expression of power and powerlessness; nothing more, nothing less. I will vote with my head and heart. My plan is to write in Ron Paul no matter what, because to me, there is no other choice for me at this point. I know I will not be alone and even if I was, I would still do it. Have you read RP's new book? I think it's wonderful!

  • I was one of the hundreds of people who wrote a review of RP's new book on Amazon. Of course I gave it five stars. I brought it to the rally in Fort Wayne, IN (I'm from SW Michigan) on May 5, and he signed it. It was such a great pleasure to meet him, short though the meeting was.

Just one question: If RP endorsed Barr, would you consider voting for him?

I admit that I would slightly regret the chance to write in RP, but politics is the art of the possible.

  • I would have to weigh that out. His opinion I value greatly. I understand that a vote is simply an expression and we have no true democratic election process and I don't understand why people don't yet get that but there is much I'm still learning and I've learned this election cycle that I didn't know before... I would consider it with favor but I'm not 100% sure yet. Truly, that would likely be the only way I'd vote for anyone but Ron Paul.

  • Bob Barr thanks for giving us a choice.

    God bless

  • Grandview, MO, is closer to home than most places... my wife's grandpa lives there.
