for those who have tried my method, i forgot to update this and say that it is only temporarily. If the dog is old, id hate to say this, but its almost time for it to go to heaven. Sadly our pets do not age as long as humans..its a traggic when they pass because they make us feel as if they are our great friend.
@JasonCaoMusic - "its almost time for it to go to heaven." - vestibular is not deadly 99% of the time. yes there can be an underlying cause but most of the it's ideopathic. My 13 yr old dog had this - she's now 15 and she gets around just fine. Stop scaring people with your inacurrate information about this disease. It generally clears up anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks.
My german shepard can barely walk and half of his face is num so hr can't blink his eye. He does till his his head and he isn't old, he's only 5. Any solutions?
@SuperChargedMan101 My 7yr old dog had this. Give your dog a few days, he'll recover. It can take up to 3 wks & they can have reoccurrences. Keep him in a well-lit room at all times, darkness confuses them. They can develop vertigo as a result. If your dog becomes nauseous, get him to the vet for prescription. There is no cure, but most of the time it’s an idiopathic disease & clears up on its own in a few days to few weeks. .My 13 yr old dog also had this, she’s 15 now, your dog will be fine.
what kind of antibiotics did you administer? My dog seems to be suffering with CVD as of yesterday and I would also like to treat her with antibiotics
@hertzworth My Golden has this and he is on Cephalexin and Prednisone. Also they say Meclizine..(Bonine or Dramamine for motion sickness may help) I gave mine all 3..the Prednisone wll build up the immune system. You can make them more comfoprtable by taking them to the vet and asking for this-- in some dogs it goes away --others it can be permanent- and just give meds- sooner the better. My dogs head sunk in a little and his eye..and I have a prescribed eye ointment. I love my dog.
@geniva10- please don't feel bad...your dog had 15 beautiful, loving years of life and knew she was loved and cherished by you. You did the right thing for her at the time, under the circumstances. And there is no way of knowing that she DIDN'T have a stroke...if only so many other dog owners were as loving and caring of their own. Best wishes.
sadly..its only temporary. sorry to hear about your dog. few months after he got better we put him to sleep due to old age. He just wasnt himself, i picked him up and he just ended up biting me. but when we were at the vet, he knew it was his time, usually dogs are scared when they are there, but he just didnt bother to move. He knew it was his time.
my dog could not stand up.... she would try and just fall over... we thought she had a stroke.. and our stupid vet agreed with us she had a stroke, so we put our 15 years old dog to sleep... i wish i would have known... how it kills me.. how i hatemyself :'(
