There used to be an Uncle Bill's near E152nd and Lakeshore Blvd in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1970s. I think the building is still there but boarded up and not being used for anything.
@TaupeHawk ...My father drove a truck for Cook United back in the 70's..i remember the blue trucks and the terminal was by rockside rd at the end of a sidestreet there
Oh man... I haven't though about the Rhinelander in YEARS. i can still see that stucco exterior with the HUGE "Rhinelander" logo on it! I wish there were photos online somewhere of the strip the way it used to look in the 70s.
Oh my gaaaa, I remember this! I have an Uncle Bill so we used to say 'going to Uncle Bill's' get it. this song came right back to me ha ! as soon as I watched this.. how weird.
I cannot believe this commercial. I can only think of the dreaded snowstorm of 1978 and being trapped at Golden Gate in Mayfield between Forest City and Uncle Bills. Should have probably gone down the big green slide!
I remember the one on Northfield too...the building is STILL there yet nothing has been in it since DIY was there YEARS ago. Hwoever Big Lots and OfficeMax are right next to it.
Remember Zayre...after being closed for like 20 years they FINALLY tore that building down a couple of years ago.
WOW. My grandma and grandpa both worked at Uncle Bills, later Cooks, until they retired permanently. (Well, they retired when Cooks closed the store they worked at)
The west end of Shoregate Shopping Center is being dismantled. There's a new housing project going on where Uncle Bills used to be. There's also another housing development underway on the north side of Shoregate along Lake Erie.
There was another Uncle Bills near E152 and Lakeshore Blvd in Cleveland back in the 70s. I don't remember the exact location. It was near the Euclid Beach apartments which used to be Euclid Beach amusement park in the 60s and earlier.
i have a couple of the old "uncle bills is for the people" spots but they're on audio. i hope to be handing out cd's of old cleveland soundbytes at ghoulardifest this year.
Hell, I remember even OLDER ones..probably about '72...(election season?" singing "Uncle Bills is FOR the People, FORRRR the people, Uncle Biiiiillllss". Yep. Shoregate shopping center

$26.88 for a cooler. In todays money that would be about $100. Damn no wonder my folks would'nt let me sit on the cooler when we went camping.

Uncle Bills was located in Mentor and Wickliffe. They had the best selection of school supplies and Halloween costumes, no doubt!
WizardGlik 4 years ago
In Columbus, they would drop in the Ontario (and then later Rink's) logos in back of the singing girl.

They did have a good selection of Halloween costumes. Lots of Christmas items too.
We used to call the store Bill's Uncle just to be funny.
