  • That is hot.

  • Ajeeb

MashAllah it's Good that we have the Sunnah : ) LOL i would deffo find that greeting difficult to do, no offence to anyone who does this, but its a bit strange.

  • Ibri FTW ^_^

  • هههههههههههههههههه خشمك ياشنب عداك العيب هذاا اصول العرب خشمك مهب خدك مشكور ياخوي العماني

    حمد القحطاني

    السعوديه

  • I live in Kuwait, and this way of greeting is very common between men, especially old men. We also kiss each other on the cheeks, it's normal!

  • Haha I find it quite adorable ^^

Is there a special way females greet eachother also?

  • hahah...how did they come up with this sick tradition, maybe one of the thier rich and gay umara2.

  • Comment removed

  • Hellaa weird

  • @LaKesha555 Gay Sand Niggers

  • look more like the eskimo greet...lol

  • straight men are very comfortable around each other in the middle east..part of their culture. can you imagine two officer workers doing this in hackensack? On the other hand....in the ME, they frown going beyond friendship.....but one cannot keep human nature down.

  • THEY DO THAT IN UAE AS WELL NOT JUST OMAN!

  • @carabinieri210

With some minor variation, they greet this way all over the Arabic Gulf region except Iraq where greeting comprise kissing on the cheeks, and kissing on both shoulders. In Saudi Arabia, kissing the forehead is also prevalent.

  • Not all Omani do that im an omani my self an iv never did that however iv seen some do it. & i'm from Muscat.

  • GAAAAY......i'm glad that i'm from muscat not ibri

  • I am Omani and I am Not Kissing AnyBody With my Nose

  • By the way this way of greeting is in all the Arabian gulf countries not just Oman, meaning in: Saudi, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emarites, Bahrain and Oman.

  • If anybody think this way of greeting is homo you should go & learn the way to how respect the other cultures thoughts .. & by the way it's a very nice way of greeting it's show how much you respect your father & brothers & also your friends .. Some women do the same greeting with there relatives .. I do the same greeting to my family members & to my friends that's not mean I'm homo !!!

  • Maori (New Zealand) traditional greeting for males is nose pressing

  • @origin8

    maori kiss nose

  • @challenger8111

its light pressing of noses together - i guess you can say kissing but i always thought you kissed with your lips :)

  • wahahahaha, that is funny.

  • I find the one at the left cute (:D)!

  • Those who jumped to conclusion and explained this form of greeting as a "homosexual" behavior might want to take the time to educate themselves a little bit on social interaction in world cultures. This is ethnocentrism at its worst and judging others by what we do is one of the main causes of conflicts among cultures.Yes Virginia, There are other languages beside English out there.

  • @shomzabe you are so right, Americans by and large are culturally stupid and ignorant and make assumptions of 500 cultures like the village lunatic...most flunked their 15 minutes of Middle East culture in 8th grade.

  • @windstorm1000

Can't agree more, Americans have more access to knowledge than any other nation on the planet and yet know the least just about anything (except the trivial, naive and the ridiculous) and yet, crown themselves of judging everyone else as wrong, backward or inferior.

  • LOL OMG I call my mom omani all these years because it's Korean word using english alphabet for Mother, but I had no idea it's actually a word that denotes a middle eastern culture!

  • @EasternMerchant

The word Omani doesn't implicate Middle eastern culture, It describes a person from an Arabic country named Oman. the "i"at the end of the word changes Arabic words to adjectives defining the nationality of the person from that country. It's the equivalent of "an" in English like America is the name of the country, add "an" : American and it becomes the nationality.

  • that is nice greetings, they really have nice form of nose.. i really like their nose

  • Hi .

this video taked from Ibri college of applied sciences

i know these guys and they are students in this college

this way is not mean gay or homosexual

that is tradition way to say i miss u

we use it for the people who have a close relations with us

    plz, dont think another

    this is our culture

so u have to respect it

    thanx

  • lol thats just wrong

  • @iRock4Fr

And yet the young men in this region argue about when and where it came from. :-)

  • In my country men just kiss each other on the cheek ^^

  • @tangiergirl

    Interesting!

  • @hheellooo7 I understand it somehow might mean they are gay but in North African countrys such as Morocco it is just a way to show affection and respect towards each other... I dont know how the Omanis came along with the nose kiss style tho.. whats the story behind it?

  • @tangiergirl

Hi there! Please note that I never said that "it might somehow mean they are gay"!! That might come from some of the other comments you've read. I believe it's just one of many ways they greet, as my title suggests. I don't claim to be an expert on this by any means; I simply thought it was interesting and posted a quick vid. It certainly has generated a lot of discussion! :-)

  • @hheellooo7 My sentence structure got a bit cheesy there, But I ment to say that for some cultures it might be seen as Gay ^_^ There should be a video on different types of male greeting around the world!!

  • its a tradition DUMBFUCKS a bedouin tradition

  • A Rose by any other name is still a Rose.....and two men holding hands like this is very common. Don't talk down on homosexuality when many of you are. I know muslims who go to Baharain to have sex with male whores.....STOP being so dishonest and in denial with yourselves. You muslims are not fooling anybody but yoruselves. Homosexuality did not skip the Arab world and you are not immune to the human condition. There are muslims who come to England or America and get real loose....trust me.

  • @READY4REVELATION there are Muslims who drink and have sex and don't even pray or mention god even though its against their religion. and you still call them Muslims? its like a christian that doesn't believe in god. and in our tradition kissing on the cheek or holding hand doesn't mean its "gay" its just your stupid way of viewing the world.

  • another stupid ignorant person. check up on your facts before you open that mouth of yours. your brain is there for a reason. Muslims don't hold their wives hands? -.- must be my imagination. and ALL the religions are against gays, yet look at all those priest messing around with the little boys.

  • @a86wanabe this confusion you make between gay an pedophile is stupid and insulting.

  • @O0ARAB0O: You might kill those you know about. These men hold hands in public....but how do you know where it goes behind closed doors. Also if you kill gays.....why is it so tolerated in Baharain? Islam offers no plan of salvation for ppl who are sin sick....you guys play judge, jury and executioner. Is there such a man who is without sin? Then i guess all of you should be dead....because i know no such man exist. This is why people hate Islam because some of you are so phony and dishonest.

  • this our culture fools this is not homosexual

  • UAE people too

  • Seems to me that Islam and the Arab world is a breeding ground for homosexuality.....because i have seen the men holding hands in public place and they say it means nothing sexual.....but to me that is what they must say but if two men will hold hands like that.....what else do you think they will do to each other in private? Islam is a fraud and this anti-gay talk is just a cover. The Arab world is full of homos. They don't even hold women's hands in public not even their own wives. Backwards.

  • @READY4REVELATION In Islam gays are killed..does this look like "breeding ground for homosexuality"??

  • ok

  • It's weird how some ppl are calllin' this CUTE and ADORABLE !! argh !!

  • Sick !!

  • this is arab gulf style you don't like this go back to zanzibar :D

  • GAY

  • Homo

  • @MundhirNet That has nothing to do with homosexuality, Its simply a culture difference.

  • Emirates was once located in oman! so if u go asking where they really come from it's OMAN! <3

  • omg walaahi, Im melting so adorable.

  • To my wonderfull Buddy Abdulah from Tiwi..Who taught me how to greet exactly this way!!! and to all of my other Omani friends.

Thankyou so much for your beautiful heartfelt hospitality during my stay over there these last few months! And they used to say Australia was the lucky country!!!

Wow ..we have got nothing on Beautiful Oman and the wonderful Omani people!

  • AWWW that was sooo cute :3

  • I was gonna say the people of Sohar, are very simmiliar to the Emiratis in accent and customs with the kissing on the nose it is not done further up the road towards Muscat and definatley not Salalah

  • @DaWrath2

    Thanks for the cultural insight!

  • You know. this is not only in my precious country Oman.

there are other countries that have similar way of greeting. for example, new zealand.

check it your self. I'm 100% sure.

  • That is correct in New Zeakand the Maori community of the population do greet each other with a Maori kiss, very similar to the Omani style but they do not use it as frequently as us Omanis, and when I was in NZ I didnt see any young people doing it, only elder people.

  • @headgalskit401

    Cool! thanks!

  • @farawayu

I'm sure this is done in many other places as well. It's a neat way of greeting. We call that "the eskimo kiss" in Canada!

  • not in Dhofar!

  • @sammyb133

    OK...not in Dhofar! :-)

  • It's not only people from Sohar as these gentlemen are from Ibri!

  • no omanis do that, only people from sohar.

  • julerou this is the actual habit of omani ppl we do it all time but its not famouse in muscat but in other places like sur it is

  • Oman in any form is beautiful

  • @Shinasstar

    NICE!

  • This is a habit of other gulf countries ...specifically UAE, definatly not OMAN, Ibri being in close proximity to the Emirates, they even tie their turbans differently so don't get it twisted!

  • how cuuuuuuuute

  • @albaqaahuna

ha!ha! Yes, it is cute! (Or did you mean the gentlemen in the video?! ;-) )

  • =P

some women do that as well!!

  • @iskh1

REALLY!? That I'd love to see!

  • @hheellooo7 Come to Oman =D

  • @iskh1

  • @hheellooo7 aww you should have known that women say hi to each other that way as well =)

Lucky u, am an omani student studying in the uk =)

  • almost all :D

  • Not All OMANI do like This !! ok !!

  • @alsalmi2003

That's why it says "ONE WAY" Omanis greet one another, silly! ha!ha!
