Thank you for the walking though the basics. Great presentation and practical application. Good thing that you mention the breathing as your adrenaline kicks in. Oss...
@Krankyism He's an instructor. Sometimes they leave opennings to test your perception and abiities to see and utilise opportunities. On the other hand it could be a bad habit but, I wouldn't take it too seriously since they're light sparring and his instruction here is on guards, but safe light sparring.

i dont like how high your hands are in your stance thats ok for boxing cause youre not supposed to get hit under beltline (sry no english xD) but when u kick and throw low punches u should have your arms lower thats why the partner hit him in the stomach isnt it?
@Krankyism true, his arms are way too high which is why he takes a hit on the stomach. Also his elbows should be alot tighter really xd cause like he's holding em now is even worse then without a "gard" or w/e that is :P
@leksss4 u do realize he's going slow for demonstration right? only thing i see with it is that (A) he is raising it up too high. keep everything closer and he wont have as much time to reach. (B)throw a distraction strike in there. a quick right leg kick or something to get his mind off the fact that your grabbing his arm
Well, the average asshole would not throw a crazy punch like the one in this exaggerated video, it would be a straight to the face punch, and then they'd want to be fake boxers and start faking... But any punch can be parried...
i do agree with what he says about "trapping" punches in a way... i think its better to focus on stuffing the punch. as if you time it when they throw and stuff it at the bicep to take to power out, but i REALLY doubt that particular technique with "trapping" his straight right like that will EVER work. regardless good teacher.
expert village lacks experts, if you can trap an overhand right then you could be the next UFC champ. in real life you are better off to step away from the punch or check it, try trapping it and your bound to trap it with your temple or chin .
he's not talking about trapping a right hand when your fighting in the ring or cage. he's talking about if your trying to defend on the street dumd ass
get a hold of yourself, an overhand right or left looks the same whether you throw it in a cave, or field, or a ring, the best counters for an overhand are several, a stiff jab comes to mind, if you want to follow what he is teaching you by all means go right ahead, just hope i am not the one throwing that overhand, because when you hands come up to "trap my overhand right, your chin will get the left uppercut.
humm is that before or after the trapping? and how do you throw a kick with your hands over your head, since you are planning to trap the right hand? Unless you are a circus performer, I do not think I have much to worry about.
A MT trick is just to hit on the inside of such a wide swing. If he had done that he would have made direct contact to the guys face, then allowing him to do more. Intercepting it like that was too cumbersome compared to hitting inside the wide arm.
These punches are not committed at all.. Even if its light you should be committed!! otherwise your gonna be unprepared when some takes a real swing at you.. my opinion anyway.
Absolutely!! recently I've been putting a lot of focus on commitment and making sure I'm not being hesitant coming in. its easy to get in that habit because of course you don't want to hurt your training partner, but if you hesitate and are pulling you strikes in training, you are gonna do just that come fight time. good comment. VERY important.
Yeah I've done that move in class. I have self defense and we were told that we have to be willing to go through with it because no matter what we've been through, no matter how tough we are, if we're scared stiff then we won't be successful in a fight.
That move hurts XD Who knew 7 lbs would break an arm?
Hmmmmm...why the heck do you react with both of your hands to deflect his single-handed attack??? What is the sense in that? Doesn´t have your opponent two hands to attack you? So what if he uses his first attack as a feint to land the other hand right into your stomach??? Then you´re screwed, i guess... No good oO
its mostly to equalized the pain kind of like would you rather get hit with an open hand or closed open more area is hit but less damage closed more acute and more painful
he's just showing one way to deflect a one handed punch. from my experience (assaulted 3 times by north african immigrants in belgium), most attacks are that kind of punch or low side kicks ;)
a few years ago a couple went out to dinner. later that night the babysitter called and asked if she could put a sheet over the clown statue in the kids bedroom. the father said "get the kids out of the house and I'll call the police. we don't own a clown statue." it turned out that the clown was a murderer escaped from jail. if you don't repost this message on 10 videos the clown will be in your bedroom tonight at 3am with a chainsaw
Im a 17 year old, 3ed degree blackbelt in Taekwondo. and in my traning i have seen many many moves and i really like this one. Soo right about the fear complex too its there no matter how long you have been traning. 5 STARS

Quite right, the best way to defend yourself is to take out the assailants "computer" as fast as possible, to facilitate a safe escape.
A quick kick in the groin would work too ;)
Sparring is good to learn coordination and endurance,
and have a bit of fun, but it has no place in the world on the street.
