Ms Theresa you ROCK!!! I've been crocheting for - wow! 36 years & I thought I had certain things down. I've not had a chance in all that time to try certain things either like socks and booties. Watching & doing your videos has not only [re]taught me a lot you've also taught me some new tricks & remove my fear/apprehensions about trying things, they've also removed the mystery out of techniques & pieces I've struggled with or only did/saw one way. Thanks for your work & "making" things simple!!!
Are there 2 types of HDC? I saw you using a HDC in a different way in the foundations stitch and different one in the other stitches. That is, in the foundation stitch you get once you get 4 loops you brought one loop through the other and then again you wrapped the loop again and brought it through the other three. Whereas with the other stitches you didn't follow the 1st step. Why is that?? I am a bit confused.
@Freelifewonder There is only one Half Double Crochet. What you are referring to is the foundation half double crochet, which is a replacement for the chain. The foundation stitch is done only at the beginning of the project.
@Whatserrface14 First do you mean an adult size 6 or a 6" booty? If a 6":Just start with a longer beginning foundation chain row. So if she's starting with 7 or 8 foundation chains for a 3 1/4" baby booty you would try starting w/a foundation chain of 10-11 & possibly 3 rounds for the sole instead of 2 before you begin the row of ribbed hdc. I watched another of her great videos and did my 2nd pair slightly larger (4.5") so going up to 6" is just a matter of doing more of certain stitches.
first of all, i pray that you continue doing all these videos to share to all your fans. i have stumbled to your youtube channel several months back while looking for a pattern for my child's afghan project. i found a pattern alright which won 2nd place in a recent students' convention. what's best is i have made several of these booties for my granddaughter which my daughter loved so much and are so proud to show around and as gifts to friends who were expecting. you are truly a blessing!

i made these booties, to make them larger i just made 12 hdc foundation sts nad added 2 to every other instruction, they turned out well and will be a greast addition to the hat and mittens i made for a friend of mines baby girl
Hi Teresa, started the booties and was going good until I got to the 2nd rnd of front and back hdc. when you chained one stitch, did you turn or did you continue over the top of the bootie going all the way around? kind of got confused about which way to continue. thank you
great video thank you so much for sharing it. i made my very first booties ever following you right along. i asked so many people to show me and no one ever could
Teresa, I was in a panic last night and couldn't do the hdc foundation. After much frustration I thought just look up hdc foundation--she'll have a video on it!! I found the video before I found your reply (window was out of view), calmed down, and made a hdc foundation. I still can't do the hdc foundation very well, so I do the chain with hdc. I finished the 2 bottoms, now I'm starting matching the tops.
@tjw1963 I just made these booties and they are adorable. I am a super beginner. They did not come out perfect, but good enough for me :) How would I make these a little bit bigger for my toddler? Are there any books you would suggest a beginner read? I've made several of your hats, and they all come out "pretty" good. Thank you so much for sharing your talent! Have you ever made a diaper cover? I want to make one to match the hat and booties I just made.
I made a pair for both of my twin nephews, although on of them seems to think its a phone XD the other one tries to keep them both for himself. Its funny seeing them talking in baby language to each other.
Amazing! Thank you so much for all of your tutorials! I'm due in September and I'm stuck on bedrest. All I can do to keep from going crazy is crochet stuff for the baby. Your videos are so easy to follow and so helpful! Thank you!!!!!
i made one of these but it turned out too tight...i think it would be hard to squeeze a baby's feet into it...oh well...i'll try again some other time! ^_^ thanks for the share
Teresa, do you have the left-handed version to this video. I am making a baby outfit and these booties are just what I need to finish the project. Also, can you use granny square stitches to make these booties?
for me just learning how to crochet the bootie, I have to stop the video numerous times to watch you do these stitiches. If I was to just listen, I would never get it cause "wrapping the yarn over " , doesnt explain where the hook and yarn are going, I love to listen to videos to learn new things..maybe if you would say wrap the yarn over before going into next stitch, would be more clear when it happens...just a suggestion... these booties are really cute thanks......
@57johns If you are new to crochet, I recommend that you learn the basic stitches first. That will be very helpful in creating all the projects I have posted.
I just finisf my baby bootie, yea . its so cuite. i made it in pink color thank you TJW. its long my computer works well keep with my lesson off the thay , i gets so happy when i learn something good from you.! thanks again and heave a great night....; . ] .
@memeemail2 These are so cute. I made a matching baby beanie hat and did the ribbed cuff on the hat too, the "matched set" came out very nice. Thanks so much.
@dankimforde You can use a larger hook. Keep in mind this will make a larger bootie. There will be trial and error involved with modifications related to leaving off the cuff and adding a strap.

ytcmnt 4 months ago
@ytcmnt The chain will work the same as the foundation HDC. The foundation stitch is just another technique.
tjw1963 4 months ago
Please show how to recognize and count 8 hdc foundation stitches. They are barely distinguishable.
And I can't see where the loops are at the bottom of the stitch! Get a different camera angle.
A loop is made in the stitch, but is that the loop that is the bottom of the stitch??? Or is the loop part of the hdc?
Please make a clearer video on how to make hdc foundation stitches.
That would be nice and helpful. Thank you.
