3 months?? You gotta be kidding! Amazing dude! Keep up the great work! You obviously either have amazing natural talent for this instrument, or you practice for 10 hours a day..
Playing the violin as a hobby is good since there is no pressure to compete... whenever you think you're too old to learn something but still would love to: "You still should, it's never too late"
All of you that have commented on this page are too kind. Thank you very much. However, the one responsible for teaching me the basics is jay buckey. His online music lessons gave me the confidence to learn. Each lesson was simple, and straight forward.
FANTASTIC VIDEO and testament that ANYONE at ANY AGE can learn.....I am 61 and just bought my first mandolin....I already have a beautiful 5 string banjo, upright piano I play mostly and also I play autoharp...and I have a new fiddle and have been SCARED of it LOL...you make it seem EASY and I will get it out and dust it off and get busy.....Thanks so much...You are VERY ENCOURAGING.....God Bless and Good Job...
Keep practicing but learn intonation and bow technique before moving on to vibrato. It's a more advanced technique and you should learn that later when you have intonation and bow technique. I've been playing for four years and still have to work on it from time to time but keep at in and you'll have it in no time
You can purchase the fret markers on Ebay, they are called, "Dont Fret". They are self adhesive, and instructions are included. You should be able to apply them to your violin in a few minutes after reviewing the instructions.
Thank you for your sharing. I'm new Violin Learner, I have been tried to figure out the notes on fingerboard, but it's hard for me to do. I can see your have taped on your fingerboard, can you show me how to do that? I think it's very helpful for me. Thank you.
I first thought i was too old. I just turned 30 n have just been playing for almost 4 months now but i play pieces from bach, paganini, beethoven, handel, etc and i also transcribe music for violin. i use no tape on my violin and i dont even look at my fingerboard during playing. So, WHAT IS OLD?!? It's ur passion thats important!
You really are an inspiration :D and here i thought i was too old to start the violin when im only like 15... but i do wish to go to a music college so i;ll do my best! if you can, i can!
Hi! You are an inspiration mate!! I am 38, have played acoustic guitar for years but always loved traditional music and have finally bought a fiddle recently. I am out in the backwoods and do not know any other fiddle players so am teaching myself so seeing your video is such a great inspiration for me. I thought I was too old to do this. thank you so much :)
dont worry about that Im 65 and started a month ago and doing well..think that when your ´'re 28 will still be very young and you will have ten years of practice surely you wiil be playing good enought to have agood time with your music and maybe profesional ,who knows? good luck
Awesome! I'm getting my first violin soon, I'm 18 years old and I was thinking I was "too old" to start playing because most of the good violinists start learning when they're too young like 3, 4 or so. But this video just gave me hope that I can become a good violinist someday. I don't want to do this for a living, but I'd like to play as a hobby because I love music.
By the way, what's the song's name you played at 7:50 ?
converted midi files to FNF and of course i started with Waltz because i have time to tink before the next note come along. If you try and like that software i can send you some sheetmusic for it.
I did the same thing i started 8 month ago to play fiddle and i use the software Forte, you can get a free version, you find a Midi file on the internet and you insert in the software and you see the note light up as it play , you can slow down the song . I started last september playing. I made 1200 tunes ,
thanks for posting. just started my learning journey a couple weeks ago. Please post your progress so we can watch you grow. maybe I'll post mine too - just started Rubber Dolly this morning.

Love it! I just started at 39. Everyone at festivals laughs at the tape on my frets though! Oh well, at least I can play a few tunes I guess. Thanks!

Thank you. I could use some advice on the easiest way to use my wrist and to keep the bow perpendicular.
p756 1 month ago
Awesome!
Your bow wrist is really stiff... Your bowing will be more accurate once you learn to loosen that up.

@p756 It's difficult enough learning any stringed instrument and I commend you in putting yourself out there for all to see while you're learning.
I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your learning experience and I wish you all the best in this endeavour.
Good luck with it all.

I was seventy-four when I began, and am doing well I think. It helps to practice 1 to 2 hours every day. Wish I had began as a child.

@usmin1996 I use the "Dont Fret" sticker so that I can locate my finger positions on each note. It is a good tool for beginers. Thanx.
