Because I'm an American I have to ask what's that colored paper crown thing is about? I saw them pop some kind of cylinder to get the crown out on the most resent Doctor Who Christmas special, and I figure it's just a fun tradition, but I'd love to actually hear about it from someone who knows instead of just trying to do it in my head (I suppose I could just Google it, but this is more social).

@DraGothify Also if you say happy Christmas, Americans will look at you strangely because the words "merry Christmas" seem to be inseparable for some reason.

Probably because of the song, "We wish you a merry Christmas. we wish you a merry Christmas. we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year." Just for fun I always say, "Happy Christmas and a merry New Year"
