@amnch07 Shortening (any solid fat) also know as lard (commercial U.S. product 'Criso'. For pie 'pastry'. Healthier is the vegetable oil-based varieties. Just ask any baker or your grocery clerk. It should be available in some form. It is not uncommon. Let me know? cheers, KtC
yep, I always try to make these when I have the extra pastry. You can buy the pastry. It keeps well in the freezer and then easy to use when the 'jelly pocket' craving hits you. cheers! KtC
You can use the pastry for anything requiring a pastry (one pie crust, cinnamom swirls, weiner wrap ect...). Any jelly will do. I will try to make a video or two with some easy ideas! cheers, thank you, KtC
what is meant by shortening?
bindu1987 3 weeks ago
@bindu1987 I have answered this in the comments below. I see you are in India. A similar product would be Ghee.
Shortening is any fat that is solid at room temperature and is required to make pastry. Just give it a google! KtC

@kooktocook can it be simply vegetable oil?
amnch07 1 year ago
@amnch07 No it has to be solid fat. Just use butter as a substitute. Shortening is available, ask your grocer. KtC
