Installing FCK editor in Drupal 6

Important to understand! fckeditor2.6 needs to be renamed fckeditor and dragged into the Drupal fckeditor downloaded folder. It will ask to replace the fckeditor embeded folder. say yes. The fckeditor folder that is ultimately uploaded to site/all/modules is the one downloaded from Drupal with its original fckeditor folder overwritten by the downloaded and renamed fckeditor2.6 folder.

Do I need an older version of fck to make the 2.6.3 work? 'caus I can't do it with only the 2.6.3 and I do not have an older version.

Thanks for the video. I'm new to Drupal and can see it's power, but I don't understand a few things. First,why would you have to build all this; create the right directories and copy the right files.... why wouldn't the editor come all ready to install within your drupal site? Will I have to go through this whole thing and watch videos to install every module, or is this a special case?

Second, you mention being in the "course site" where you see all the instructions. What site is that? Tks

You need to configure FCKEditor a bit more. Edit the profile you created and look for the "File browser settings" and set those to the "Built-in filebrowser". The browse button will appear, you can upload images and add them to your nodes.

why are you uploadig module under sites/all

dont you have to upload the module to modules folder?

I did that and it works

Also you can use image upload without imce, you just enable image upload by default in drupal and then the button browse appears, you have to enable another file in the fck and it works withotu imce

Actually sites/all/modules is the right place for add-on modules. And it's much easier to deal with when upgrading Drupal. You're right though, you don't need IMCE or any file manager at all.

That said, at the moment I'm putting together the necessary bits for the FCKEditor module to integrate CKFinder (which is very nice). When I get it working I'll contribute it to the FCKEditor module project so you'll be able to just drop-install it.
