The thing with the c1 is that you can do it all live... You have to spend time to map everything virtually. Also, you set the tones based off of the 8% range on the 1200, which makes it so you can only "play" a few notes.
Controller one just combines that all into one piece of equipment and doesn't require prerecording anything. This is a smart idea no doubt, but its hardly equal to the controller one.
Specifically I'm talking about in respect to cutting notes. With your method, when you change notes one of your hands has to be on the keys and not on the the fader or record which limits you.
(Continued) On the controller 1, the note changing buttons are installed right on the turntable, so you can use use the fader and record hand while changing notes - allowing you to flare, crab, and do tear flare variations. Let's see you pull off some tear flares while changing notes using your set-up - it's impossible.
I do play piano this was actually my first attempt at this.
I will be playing around with this concept more in the future.
Thanks for the suggestions I actually got some pretty good comments from some pretty awesome pianist on my Pacbell Canon n turntablism video you should check it out.
Seriously man, your scratching is really solid. But if you want to step things up musically, try learning some piano scales, and chords. You'd really be able to fully blow people away if you had some Music Theory in you. I hate to see such scratching talent not be put to its fullest. (Anyone who is a pianist will be like "stop it", while Bboys will be bobbing their heads. Why not appeal to both!)
You could make this idea 10 times better if you used a cheap chromatic tuner to help you tune your deck to notes in a scale rather then random pitches... or just cut your samples from a softsynth.
but hanksta? whats up with the pink torq skin? there are soo many more masculine skins! but if thats how you roll! more power to ya! great vid by the way

great video
total hand control
but I think it would be great if you can control the changing tracks by using a MIDI paddle

This is a lower budget alternative to a controller one.
Using your current hardware.
for those of us who cannot afford a Controller One turntable. Or already dished out a $1000.00 for 2 technic 1200s.
don't get me wrong the Controller One is awesome but expensive.

So is a laptop and keyboard.

My Keyboard is from M-Audio keystation 49e =99.00
Laptop from Apple Macbook = 1099.00
Vestax Controller = $2000.00
You can't post youtube videos with a Controller One either.
PEACE! ;)

Exactly. there's limitations using this set-up- not comparable at all to the controller 1.
Nevertheless it a clever idea.
IntelInside2020 4 years ago
Not true there is actually more limitations using a controller one because when using a computer the possibilities are endless.
