I really want to try the Deva line but I'm afraid because of the mixed reviews... I have the ArcAngel and I'm in LOVE with it, but I don't know if No Poo or Low Poo will work better for me. I have 2c/3a hair, frizzy and medium texture
@shibbydoo322 When I can get my hands on this line, I use the No Poo. My hair is 2c/3a and super frizzy. The first time I used the Deva products, I had a close relative ask if I got my hair permed.
i've tried the the Devacurl products because of Mahoganycurls, Rachaelcpr, Latia4u, MsNaturalTouch and TheBadpusycat.....i have to HONESTLY say you girls should be getting PAID by the OWNER because you've convinced a lot of people to buy the product and your hair LOOKS absolutely GORGEOUS~
one can use other natural products on hair but deva curls has changed my life...it really treats my hair wonderful ..plus the video clips n book helped me learnn how to create my curls more defined plus...i no longer like blow drying my hair..even tho i miss it..ive learned to not use hair products that contain the word one at the end of the ingredient in the products..n using clips really help the lift.also that towel is expensive i use a paper towel n its just as good ..thank u deva curl
Did the formula change? There are several post which claim the formula has changed and the products are not as good as they once were. SOmeone tried to contact Lorraine at no avail. Consumers really want to know what is going on.
So,- no detergent in the no poo? so, basically its a runny conditioner then? just that its labeled "no poo" and costs 10 times as much? mmmh? Ill stick to the watered down cheapo cond thanks!
What I do to get 2nd day hair is spray my hair with some water. Just enough to moisten my hair a little. put a plastic shower cap on (two if you have alot of hair my me) then rap with a silk scarf. The next morning, just take off the the shower caps and shake hair.
Can you make some videos being more specific on each curl type. Im bottacheli but im still not sure how to do this. I want to buy it but, im scared because i might not know what to do. Thanks, please reply.
what if you want to go for the big hair look (im a guy) and you have corkscrewy curls, Blow dry with concentration nozzle no heat low speed? do you have any better advice ?
By now I've been trying to go CG for two years. My hair never stopped being frizzy, it was unpredictable, and very hard to keep looking tidy (much less styled). A lot of work. A few days ago I just gave up and flat ironed my hair a bit. Its super easy now that I compare. I feel sad Im damaging my ends with the heat though.. But its seems you cant have the cake and eat it too. Im just so tired of spending money to buy that perfect product that would give me soft, defined curls.never found it
I love the CG method, it's been a complete saviour for my hair. But because I've had my hair cut dry and combed-out, the shape is really strange when it's curly. I can't get any local hairdressers to cut it dry and curly, they just freak out about how it'll be wonky (I live in the south-west UK). Does anyone have any tips or suggestions at all? I'd be so grateful for any help!!
I have an assortment of curls (s'wavy, wavy, botticelli) all over my head and I am always struggling to find the right haircut! Currently my hair is about mid-back length without any layers. When it dries it tends to take on a triangular shape (if you know what I mean...). I was wondering if you had any haircut suggestions or any tips on styling to tone down the triangle?
@DKincorperated I'm not a professional, but you'll definitely want some layers in there to break up the Pyramid look. I've heard that the Devachan salon shapes your curls based on how they naturally lay after air drying, which, if you typically air dry rather than diffuse, may be the best option in figuring out what kind of cut to get. Otherwise you will want to simply break up your 1 length hair with some layers. Good luck.
are these products available in New Zeland? damn non of the Curl hair products are available in NZ. only TIGI hairline is there but tht doesn't work for me:(
@RoDJ99 no actually baby shampoos would be more drying to the hair, because baby shampoos are designed to remove the heavy oils that coat babies' hair...
I absolutely love the beautiful black girls long curly hair in layers!!!!!!!!!! wats her name so that I can look her up I want my hair cut exactly like hers!!!! =D
@jsparrowfan I thought the same thing, and I went to Ulta Beauty, and they have a travel kit that has Nopoo, One Condition, AnGel and Set it Free for under $40. I thought that was a good deal to try out all the products and they lasted me about a month, and that way if it doesn't work for you ( I don't see how that's possible) you aren't left with a bunch of product and you didn't spend an arm and a leg.
@jsparrowfan Yea! its just a rip off !!, your curls are natures gift, use natural products on them and oils if needed, just get a good cut and let them do what nature intended. there is no "one way for all curlies, experiment and do what is good for your curls, hydration is the key, its really not rocket science.
I have tried this product line once or twice, and I realize it may take a continuous process for better results. However, I've tried at lest 50 different products on my "Botecelli" type hair. My hair has a mixture of curls and some ringlets, and I'm aiming for just the curls. I'm not sure if that's possible with some kind of relaxer or keratin treatment. Would continuing to use htis product help, or would you also recommend treatment?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a scrunchie/hair-tie that won't tear or damage my curls? I know that rubber bands are the devil but I run every day and I need something to tie back my hair that will keep it back without hurting it.
I've been a deva-curly girl for two years now and I've never looked back! I even got my hair cut at Devachan in soho a while back and it was an amazing experience; I highly recommend it to anyone who can get to NY!
I'm trying to gro my hair out, and ti just won't grow. I've been trying for two years, I got it cut very short, and now it's just below my shoulders when dry. any tips?
i'm hispanic and have wavy/curly hair. i've been using the WEN conditioner by Chaz Dean for 6 months and haven't seen the results that i've been wanting. Parts of my hair seem dry even after I put aloe vera gel in it. Is WEN good for curly hair or is it recommended I switch to DevaCurl products?
@wwfwresler417 Wen has different types, not just the almond conditioner. there is one for extra hydration and one for extra cleansing although i would try products made for curly/wavy hair first.

i have been using devacurl products for almost a year (no-poo, one condition, and anGEL) and recently, the front/crown/forhead of my scalp has had a lot of dandruff...what is this from? I wash my hair about 2 times a week and I have never had dandruff before. What do you suggest?
Do the Deva 3-Step! Use No-Poo, One Condition and Set It Free and then once a week, use Heaven In Hair as a deep moisture remedy. When rinsing, leave some in.Your curls will be moist, bouncy, shiny and frizz free1`
@applez4applez what ever .I'm following the Andre Walker hair classification .she has 4a\4b hair because her curl size is too small to be 3c .i know that corkscrews can come in different textures i'm talking about curl size.3c hair is the only hair type consider to have corkscrews even though other hair types have curls shape like corkscrews.
I recently got my hair cut for the second time at this salon, and though my results are much above satisfactory, I have a question.
After my second cut I was told that I actually didn't use enough conditioner and gel to hydrate and de-frizz my hair. After a few weeks of using the supposedly 'correct' amount, I've noticed flaking off my hair. It looks like dandruff and falls our whenever my hair moves, but my parents, who inspected my scalp, claim that that probably isn't what this flaking (cont)
@applez4applez is. My hair looks the same as it did when I walked out of the salon after every time I wash it, so i think that I'm using the same amount of product as was used in my hair there, but this flaking thing is new. Does this mean that I'm using too much product or not enough or not the right way? How can I prevent it?
And thanks for the cut and the products, they really do help :)
@applez4applez Any response? It continues to happen and I have no idea what to do. It's like the product is clinging to my hair, little white flecks, all the way down to the ends...
i have a mixture between botticelli and wavy curls. more of it's botticelli than wavy so do you suggest i should use the botticelli products or the wavy products?
Use the Deva Three step: No-Poo cleanser and One Condition daily conditioner. Then, mix AnGEL with MirrorCurls for softer, shinier, healthier frizz-free curls. Also, Once a month use h=Heaven In Hair as a deep moisture masque.
I bought the full travel size set with the no poo, one condition, angel and set it free. I have thin botticelli curls, which is kind of odd since most of the time I see thicker hair on woman with my curl. I saw how you use the clips to give hair volume, but how do they stay when using the diffuser? I want to avoid from my hair looking to thin at the crown of my hair.
Watch the three step video. They show you how to dry the curls. The DevaFuser should be placed underneath the clips at thw scalp when drying so as not to disturb them during the drying process.
It is not the AnGEL that is making your hair feel dry as AnGEL is plastic and silicone free, two ingredients found in other gels that dry the hair. It is probably that your hair needs more moisture before applying the AnGEL. Make sure to release the curl cast by scrunching the curls ONLY when the hair is completely dry. Watch the Three step video!
ive been doing the cg method for 2 years and my hair has been fine. Now my hair is getting longer and the curls on the top are starting to become undefined :( the hair r spliting away from each other instead of meshing together on the top. This only seems to happen after i scrunch(which i do when hair is dry)does this have anything to do with the way i scrunch? any tips?
It sounds like you are not using enough conditioner, and that you are not using enough gel. When applying, make sure to cover the entire landscape of the hair so that all the curls get the benefits of this moisturizing gel. Do not touch the hair until the curls are completely dry. Watch the three step video!
i have a question....you know the actress annalynne mccord...she has great curly hair and i was wondering if she uses this product or what product does she use on her hair cuz her hair is incredible
So for the last 6 months of using nothing but sulfate and sodium FREE shams and conditioners, My hair is finally starting to look better after washing.I notice when I used regular shams..it took my hair about 3 or 4 dayz to regain it natural moisture..not now....but I only wash maybe every 2 wks but co-wash btwn the weeks.....So just a few days ago I bought baby sham thinking it wouldn't be harsh...(cuz i ran out of devapoo) BOI was i wrong....my hair was sooo hard....I'll be sticking to the POO
I have to say......I use products for a few months before I leave reviews.....So....with that being said.....I bought the Sham and Conditioner @ Ulta in Feb.....I wasn't impressed at first because my hair still felt dry.....However after using it for the last 6 months....I love it. I think the winter and cold weather plus the lack of taking biotin or a mutli vitamin kept my hair dry and my scalp sham/con so I'll be buying so more...
I'm AN African american,I just tried Deva curl and I love it! It defines my curls without making my hair hard and crunchy. Its soft, has a lot of sheen and looks really pretty.
Is anyone else out there wishing that Miss Cork Screw had a fotki or a blog? I want to know how long it took her to get that length. Tell me I'm not alone, any naturally ladies watching this? :op
I am part of a consortium of chemists compelled to root out chemical hair care MYTHS. Unfortunately, you are PERPETUATING those myths with your products. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) used in the proper dilution and only as often as NEEDED is perfectly safe! Over 80 years of efficacy and EXHAUSTIVE research PROVE this point. You are simply trying to SELL your product by capitalizing on the public's ignorance about SLS. That "dangerous" SLS is in many FOOD products...chew on that for a while, eh?
I love devacurl products... I'm currently only using angell for styling, and even though its definitely the best styling product i've ever used, my hair still isn't anywhere near being as pretty as these girls'... It's very thick and wavy underneath, and very dry and frizzy on top. Also, I have trouble creating volume at the roots... any suggestions?
You need to moisturize first and use plenty of product when doing so, (enough to cover the entire landscape of your curls!). Leave some conditioner in when rinsing and use Heaven In Hair as a deep treatment. Next watch how the model in the video scrunches her hair. Don't touch it while it is drying or your hair will frizz! Watch how they place the clips at the root. In conclusion, I would say that the most important factor in all of this is getting your curls moisturized.
I have no-poo, one-c, and anGell. My hair is boderline bot. curls. I am totally confused on how to use these products. I am wandering if I use the no-poo and one-c everyday or what? Just one or the other? Just wet hair with neither in between? Cant really fly to NY or Chicago for help! Anyone?
You can certainly use both No-Poo and One Condition everyday. If your hair is dehydrated, consider wetting the hair daily using No- Poo (on the scalp only) and then gliding One Condition through the hair every time you wet the hair. No need to No-Poo the ends. Then after scrunching,as the video suggests, use AnGEL and apply as the video instructs. For a deep treatment, use Heaven In Hair to restore the hairs moisture level for maximum hydration.
We simplified the curl types into 4 categories since some "curlies" have a bend that could become a wave with a little curl encouragement. We call this type S'wavy, which means seemingly straight but when coaxed, will bend and wave.
what do you recommend for corkskrew cause my hair is really poofy and tangly and i want to wear it out more then up in a ponytail every day

i have a mixture between botticelli and wavy curls. more of it's botticelli than wavy so do you suggest i should use the botticelli products or the wavy products?
...im guessing botticelli...

I want to avoid from my hair looking to thin at the crown of my hair.
calderon24 2 years ago
Watch the three step video. They show you how to dry the curls. The DevaFuser should be placed underneath the clips at thw scalp when drying so as not to disturb them during the drying process.

i have "wavy" curls i use angel and it makes my hair feel dry, which product will help it feel more defined, soft and shiny?
widdlee 2 years ago
It is not the AnGEL that is making your hair feel dry as AnGEL is plastic and silicone free, two ingredients found in other gels that dry the hair. It is probably that your hair needs more moisture before applying the AnGEL. Make sure to release the curl cast by scrunching the curls ONLY when the hair is completely dry. ive been doing the cg method for 2 years and my hair has been fine. Now my hair is getting longer and the curls on the top are starting to become undefined :( the hair r spliting away from each other instead of meshing together on the top. This only seems to happen after i scrunch(which i do when hair is dry)does this have anything to do with the way i scrunch? any tips?

that didnt really answer my question...but ok...
xfoxelil1xx 2 years ago
It sounds like you are not using enough conditioner, and that you are not using enough gel. When applying, make sure to cover the entire landscape of the hair so that all the curls get the benefits of this moisturizing gel. Do not touch the hair until the curls are completely dry. Watch the three step video!

Also, I have trouble creating volume at the roots... any suggestions?
amytrevelyne 2 years ago 2

Anyone?
jenlynn25 2 years ago
You can certainly use both No-Poo and One Condition everyday. If your hair is dehydrated, consider wetting the hair daily using No- Poo (on the scalp only) and then gliding One Condition through the hair every time you wet the hair. No need to No-Poo the ends. Then after scrunching,as the video suggests, use AnGEL and apply as the video instructs. For a deep treatment, use Heaven In Hair to restore the hairs moisture level for maximum hydration.

When did there become s'wavy and wavy become two different categories?
Lilypad1394 2 years ago
We simplified the curl types into 4 categories since some "curlies" have a bend that could become a wave with a little curl encouragement. We call this type S'wavy, which means seemingly straight but when coaxed, will bend and wave.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks so much. :) When is the mirrorcurls going to be available for purchase? Or is it already?
