Also ironic that it was an Airbus A330-200 too that crashed into the Atlantic almost a year ago(Air France) and that this video is of Turkish Airlines, which crashed at Schiphol in Feb 2009. Coincidence?
@kalletjie how it is ironic apart from the same type of aircraft. This looks to have nothing to do with the actual aircraft, but more pilot error. It could happen to any type of aircraft, if the men up front screw up, the consequences are usually dire...
Between minute 4.01 and 4.05 is the crash site of Afriqiyah (flight 8U 771) Airbus 330 just short of Rwy 09 in Tripoli. You can see the Mosque near the crash site on the background (4.01).
@base80 Yes, I recognize the Mosque building from news photos I have seen of the Afriqiyah Flight 8U 771 crash site. Judging of the height above ground at 4.01 Flight 771 must have been way too low at that approach distance and too steep of a glide slope angle. That airport needs to upgrade their ILS navigation system.
@Captainbritishair amen to that, i'm suprised that there hasn't been a case of hijacking recently because the sucurity levels and the passport control standards are very low, and in fact lazy
well, I think it won't be finished till the end of next year. A new terminal is really needed, the old one is small and dirty, the design of the late 60s, early 70s.
Its to be complete in March of next year but I like to seee a glimpse of the work done, I couldn't find any I wish someone that works there could update us unless its gonna be a surprise looooooool I think we may get a glimpse of it in september
Actually I remembering seeing the work on Libyan Jamahiriya channel very beautiful. it looked nearing completion although needs renovation I wish I could record it
All that is probably on fire right now

SO the reports in the papers and on tv were erroneous-the crash site is at least 800 meters from the runway and not 1m!!
