i caught him by first bring his HP to the red with my floatzel. Then getting it paralysed by my pikachu because of static. And then sent out my lucario and kept throwing dusk balls

I JUST caught him with a great ball. Heres how it went :

Send out Porygon, Giratina could only deal real damage to him with dragon claw, and porygon was lvl40. Weakend him, sent out Golduck lv 46 , had limited supply of pokeballs, I used a quick ball at first, almost caught, I only had one, so I weakend him to low red, then used a ultra ball, almost worked, shook 3 times then broke loose, used a dusk, broke, used poke ball, broke, ultra broke, FINALLY GREAT BALL!! 2 great ball tosses finish it.

Giratina was a pain 2 catch. i used up my ultraballs and dusk and my other pokeballs, and still did not catch it. i triend it the entire nite and i decided 2 catch it with my masterball. now i will have a tough time catchin mespirt cresallia and the 3 birds

Its all about luck when it comes to catching ANY pokemon! One time an evee in the trophy garden just would not stay in the pokeball! It took 30 Ultraballs!!! Very unlucky!! :O

It's actually a good technique, man. In D/P, you use a poke ball right after Dialga/Palkia uses Roar of Time/Spacial Rend. Same with Giratina, except it's after it uses Shadow Force. Still, I never thought it would work!
