Are you EVER going to finish this video? You told me in an emil not long ago that you were and still nothing yet! This is getting ridiculous, a lot of partial videos and scarce responses!
Thank you for sharing this skill with us. It seems that everybody is in a hurry to go nowhere these days, and can't appreciate it when someone like yourself takes the time to go slow so we can follow your lead. I will be making a net using your video as my guide. I am making it myself not because I can't go out and buy one but because I get great personal satisfaction by creating something myself. Thanks again and keep up the GREAT work.
I thought the video was great. For those complaining about the length of the video, there is this amazing thing we can do on YouTube called, pause. If u are gonna complain about something, then complain about something that is worth complaining about.
Could someone out there in Youtube land do a 10 minute video demonstration of this. You are the worst instructor ever. How many of you reading this, could not watch the whole thing till the end?
My great grandfather made mullet nets, a type of cast net. It was his job as well as his supper. We lost the kmowledge. So thank you for giving me back the ability in your very patient explanations.
Comedy in chaos. While I agree in principle with your statement, I think Dave would agree that a little criticism would help him in making better videos which I know he is eager to do. I thought it was a little long but recognized he was trying to put a lot of information into it. I watched in 3 sittings and that gave me time to absorb a little at a time. Possibly a list of points he would like to make would help. Great information Dave and thank you. I look forward to more soon.;-JJD
@Sho81 Thanks. I've been having brain freeze for some reason. Believe it or not this is the second time I have called someone Dave on UT in two days. Sorry Allen I will try to keep it stright. ;-JJD
Thank you for a great and informative video. Please keep on passing on the knowledge.
To the commenters who have nothing better to do than post critical BS about people who take their own time and try to educate... All I can say, is stop being so nit-picky. Video too long for you? Skip it. Wrong accent for you? Skip it. Sound or picture quality not to your liking? Skip it. All the armchair directors and critics out there need start posting your own videos and see how much better you can do.
Thanx for posting this net making video, even though it is long winded, it is thorough and that is the most important point to this teaching. It's like attending a pathfinder gathering and sitting in on an actual class. Dave's video on net making was the quick and dirty way to making a functional net, but this net right here is the "Real-Deal Hollyfield". Thanx again. Awesome!!!
I think the pathfinder youth group is doing a wonderful job teaching skills and confidence. I have seen both of the pathfinder youth videos on net making. Im looking forward for the next one.
no offense, but this was very long and a bit boring. dave has already made a great video on making nets, and he did not require 43 minutes. yes, this is an important video, but again, probably the most boring i've ever seen from wilderness outfitters.
@thaiguysabu I could have made 4 short videos or one long one and yes it was long winded. I sometimes forget that I am not in front of kids teaching. Most of the time I am teaching kids and you have to explain every little detail.
@thaiguysabu I didnt want to say it but it was a little drawn out. Very informative, but I dont feel it needed 43 minutes either! Kinda like watching paint dry.... A little QC please Dave. :)
@D0cTerG0nZ0 I don't know if you got a reply yet, but you can get them anywhere you get fishing gear. Not gear like kiddie poles and spinners, but corks and crab pots, you know, more serious gear. They're relatively cheape and fantastic to use. Unless you're working on very small line work, I would suggest going for the larger of needles.
@VetoBurrito Using Dave's method will work just fine in most applications. But you are limited to the types and sizes of nets you can create. Once this method is learned it is a lot faster than hand tying.
@cowboy477989 you can make the exact same net on the hammock way. I think it took dave 45 minutes to make a 6 ft hammock. Use different cordage is all
