Wich brings me to this question. What about the Noctua NH-U12P backplate?I bought the i7 model of the cooler, but i dont think the backplate is still gonna fit.
Nice reviews Rodney ( usefull Videos ;-) ) - HD is good -> now you can also show the wold ...hehe... your good videos (previews, tests, reviews, ...) in good (or very good) quality.
Advice: You should use an Intel Core i7 Processor -> good (very good) for all your tasks... ;-)
Why would anyone spend that much money on an i7 and then resort to using an old 775 socket cooler? The person who posed this question must not have any common sense.
Not to many LGA1366 coolers on the market right now. Off the top of my head there's the Noctua NH-U12P SE1366, Nexus FLC-3000, Nexus LOW-7000 & ThermalTake VI AX CL-P0508.
While most new motherboards have this option enabled, some enthusiasts turn it off. I mentioned this for safely reason because not all older motherboards have this feature. Better to be safe than sorry ;)
true, that overheating protection has saved my cpu many many times already... like yesterday when i tried to do a fan stopping error test (test that will a error occur when cpu fan is stopped [actually that's not such a big deal with my cooler], but as soon as i touched the fan to stop it then then my huuge cpu cooler popped out of the bracket/socket whatever it's called :) and the temps got from 25deg to 90 in 2 secs. fortunately it shut down when the temps exeeded the overheat protection level

because some of the best air coolers around are socket 775. the thermalrite ultra 120 for example. one of the best.

obviously most enthusiasts would turn it back on when they bodge a cooler for it or at least keep an eye on the temps.
I;d bet money on that ALL LGA755 + LGA1366 can shut down safely when it over heats.
