Do you think it'd be easier to have prior knowledge (ex. have played the song on the piano before, basically even seen the sheet music for the song) before MPCing it?

Uh, yes.

I've done extremely little work on Mario Paint without using sheet music. Most of the more advanced MPC videos had at least a little sheet music involved, I think.

As a seperate opinion, I've never used sheet music to do Mario Paint. I suppose it's preference, and possibly I have a better ear. I always just listen to a song religiously until I know it by heart.

I didn't use regular sheets, though; I found a midi file for the song and used Notation Player.
