  • Y WE NO HAV THIS IN 'MERICA. It really saddens me...

  • You are so cute!

  • Much love Trish!

  • Awesome! We always have these at Christmas! Just never saw one made! (And are you saying cellotape?) Lol. Never heard that one! 3

  • That is so cooool... now I want to make one...

  • @sunsetlover

I am sure you could make a much prettier one than me as i've no imagination.... other people put holly on them and spray them Xmas coloues and put glitter and stuff on them...mine are very plain really

  • That is really neat! I loved everything about it! Is this something that is traditionally under the Christmas tree?

  • @Tobie2

We do put some in the Xmas tree, balance them on the branches... and then on Xmas day we put them on the table, one at each place setting...then after the meal we sit and pull the crackers

    :-)

Also have them at Xmas parties

  • You have inspired me, Trish! I have an annual Christmas get-together with 5 close friends, and they are going to love to receive one! I'm off to town to see if I can find some snappers at the craft store! I think I'll put in a lip balm or maybe some mini bottles of perfume. And definitely some paper crowns! Thank you for sharing this great idea!

  • @amjPeace

Oh i bet your friends are going to love them, plus if you are more artsy then me i am sure you can make them look so pretty

    :-)

  • Twish, I love this Christmas tradition! Thank you for the tutorial. You look super cute in your gold crown!

  • @MouseChirpy

I'd love for you to make some Christmas Crackers, as with your huge artisitic talent (yes i've been browsing your website), i am sure you would make a better job than me at making them

    :-)

  • It worked! They looked great, Trish - I usually end up spending at least $25.00 on eight crackers. Maybe I will do these instead! I wonder if our local craft store has the little pop strip. Crackers need that! - roc

  • @popparoc46

What's nice about making your own is you can choose the little gifts that go inside and i find that even in the most expensive shop bought ones the gifts are still rubbish!

    :-)

  • that's really cool...I have never seen anything like that before...I bet they are fun for parties...

  • @DawndeeDALLAS

Yes Christmas parties and on Christmas day at the dinner table

    :-)

  • It's very cool, but will you be insulted if I don't eat it?

  • @Perroquet51

Could be a little chewy i'm thinking....

    :-)

Hey! I added you on Skype, so if you ever have time for a little chat let me know!

  • Wow.. this is so cool. I love this holiday tradition. Really a smart and fun idea. Your crackers are just lovely!!!! HugZ Sugar

  • @1jojolicious

    Thanks Jojo

    x hugs x

  • A labor of love. Absolutely gorgeous. And totally color coordinated as well. ;^)

Gold crepe paper? I can't remember ever having seen that.

Question: Don't you need to glue or tape down the ends of the 'explosive charge'? Just a neat bow will do the trick?

  • @PuppyZwolle

You can stick the ends of the snap down if you like (probably a good idea actually!).... but as long as you remember to put your thumb on it as you hold your end of the cracker it works just as well

    :-)

  • They aren't a part of our Christmas tradition here, but they should be! :)

  • @Illuminatta

    Yes! They should be!

    :-)

  • Here we go with the language differences again I thought when I read the title you were going to be cooking...lol

  • @Carballoca

    LOL!

only if you're on a high fibre diet!

  • LOL! With my one track mind, I was expecting food. Since our cookies are biscuits over there, and out biscuits are muffins or something, I figgered crackers would be toast. One never knows with you furriners... :-)

  • @anmoose

    LOL!

well i suppose you could eat them if you wanted.... very high fibre diet!!

    :-)

  • Great stuff! Watching this has definitely started making me feel festive :)

  • Oh wow u actually pull it open and it makes a crack sound? God I'm dumb! Lol I was tearing mine and undoing the knoted ribbon! Lol

  • @gigi2mado

LOL!!!! Terry you really made me laugh out loud!!

That's so funny but i guess unless you're shown you wouldn't know to pull them

    :-)

  • Trish, I thought it was going to be some type of cracker that you eat....lol, lol. They're really cute. I bet the kids love them. Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow - so simple, really, now that you've demonstrated! :) I love the idea of making them from scratch. And I found a place online to purchase the snap strips - very inexpensive. Thank you! (btw - not Christmas, not cracker, but something is meandering your way).

  • What a fun thing to make! I'm going to try making a couple for my coworkers. :)

  • Wow..this is great twish! I never knew that we could make our own. Thought they could only be bought in stores. I love Christmas crackers, but that little "snap" still gives me a fright...lol. hugs, Chris

  • I have been buying xmas crackers every since Max was little and they are a Christmas tradition for our family now. Your finished crackers don't look home-made at all, looks just like the ones that you buy but with better stuff inside!

  • @yoyomax12

Using a really good quality wrapping paper makes all the difference when making crackers

    Thanks Tammy

  • Love that you are demonstrating crackers ! When I was living in KS I missed our Xmas crackers sooo much. We made our own to share with family in KS & filled them with fun toys & goodies....they were JAM PACKED..found the snaps on Ebay from England...added jokes & native words of wisdom ...we even made our tissue hats ...the American relatives LOVED them...esp. the kids. Grew up with them in Canada - price of crackers determines how 'good" the prizes inside are. LOL. Thanks so much

  • This really good to know Trish..I went to by some & they are very pricy

    BIG HUGS

  • How fun I bet the children love these :)

  • @MrsRedAng

Oh it's you Ang! I didn't know about this channel of yours, i'm so out of the loop!

    Yes kids LOVE Christmas Crackers!

    :-)

  • That's great Trish!! I love things like that. I thought when I first saw your title you were making a saltine cracker (bisquit) to go with cheese and/or jam! Silly me!

  • @wildheart5

Yes i am waiting for a photo of the finished crackers to finish processing as the icon pic to avoid that mix up Barb!

    :-)

  • I love that idea. Think I'll have to try making them. Thanks for sharing.

  • @knapoleone

Oh do give them a go, buy the stronger better quality Christmas wrapping paper to get a better result

    :-)

  • Crackers are always great fun.. but the gifts inside are always terrible! haha.. Never thought of making my own. Thanks for sharing Trish, I will definitely be trying this out!! hehe. Have a nice weekend ~ Ryan x

  • @mostlythemusic
