    All that bluster is easy to ignore (if you are not the recipient:) but his constant jitters give me slight motion sickness! I do wonder if he's tanked up on caffeine or other stuff:) Perhaps he is hyperactive or has hyperthyroidism - he does seem to fit the symptoms.

    No, the beef wellington is always made with Puff Pastry. Shortcrust is a crumbly pastry, whereas Puff Pastry puffs up with layers of butter.

    Yes, you would use this for  an Apple Pie, but this pastry is shortcrust, different to Puff Pastry

  • Before I got a food processor (about 20 years ago) I used to use my hand-hand cake mixer to rub the butter into the flour. Never did like using my hands. As you say, Gordon, it melts the butter! My recipe is 250g butter, 2 cups (250ml ones) flour and 4 TB water. That's about 60ml. I don't bother with salt; I reckon there's already enough in the butter.

  • @amandamichelgarcia it might vary according to room humidity and barometric pressure. this is why mass is a much better way to prescribe flour than volume (spoons, tablespoons, cups, etc.)

  • I will try this one..just did another one from some one else and they said 2 table spoons of water to 200g flour but it was so dry and it was just a mess lol it was not soft at all..i ended up puttung it in the bin and giving up...lol..
