Well Ibanez is a metal guitar, squire is a more classical rock, that stuff, i personally go with Ibanez cause there feel and how they just get that aggressive metal, but ehh what can i say? i own a Epiphone guitar, and Ibanes bass
Ive got a squier tele vintage modified and an ibanez art120 with SD blackouts and i love them both, but you cant compare them because theyre used for totally different playing styles. Squier = clean, bluesy tones. Ibanez = metal, hard rock, and dropped tunings. Still both great guitars
don't associate the quality of a guitar with the brand because there are often different levels of quality at different price-ranges from the same brands. an ibanez that is the same price as a squier will be no better than a squier, but ibanez has some pro-quality stuff too, really expensive stuff but also really very good, whereas squier has a kind of cut-off point on the quality (and price), where they start using the fender brand (arguably, there's a bit of a crossover there!).
I was thinkin about getting a ephiphone les paul 100 with either a line 6 spyder or a marshall amp. My budget is 500$ so i guess I have some room cause at first I was going to get a strat but then I saw the ovation and was like OMG I need that then, I see the ephiphone les paul and was like DAMN I need that. so any suggestions on a good guitar set up for less that $500? maybe even the ephiphone sg(ive been playing acoustic for about 2 1/2 years.

I watched this again and noticed the overdrive on the strat sucks when he was playing chords. It sounds like a crunch pedal gone wrong. The Ibanez has better clarity and tone with the overdrive.
it doesnt rlly matter what guitar you use, it depends on the guitarist and mainly wat kinda amp you use, if u use a amp with no effects, itll sound like crap but if u use a amp with a bunch of effects like my amp the peavey vypyr 75 watt model, my 200 dollar squier sounds like a 2000 dollar ibanez
Proof that it's not the guitar that you play, it's the technique of the guitarist. All this branding is just b.s. I have a dirt cheap guitar that sounds better than some of the more expensive ones. (it cost me £10!!) So stop hating.
@rangel179931 the difference is better pickups. my squier telecaster has some of the worst sounding pickups ive ever had, but it still plays very well. My ibanez has great sounding pickups, and it plays just as well, or better than the squier. So if i were anyone choosing between these brands, i'd advise them to go with ibanez.
jimi hendrix didn't use a squier much, he almost took a fender stratocaster :) i like ibanez 2, there is not a best. the music u like to hear, thats what u want

@XxJamesJawsxX I agree! My RG350DX plays better than my old Squier Vintage Modified Strat, and I like the RGs look over the Squier. That's saying a lot because my strat was the white with the red pick guard. (Forget what that color was actually called lol) I've been playing for 10 years and my Ibanez and 2 PRS guitars are my favorite guitars I have ever owned, and I've owned ever kind and brand guitar at one time or another.
haha we are alike! i bought 2 pick guards for my old strat (red "rock" pattern and plain black) to try and see if the colouring would make it look better but it didnt.. i think its the pickups is bigst problem PRS are amazing but not so much the price tag! which models or prs do youo own> my ibanez is the rgr321ex, not the greatest but not far off, for £250 its greater value than the crappy beginner package i got from my dad 175 i didnt even ask for . i wanted ibanez way beforehand haha
@XxJamesJawsxX I have a 2003 PRS Tremonti SE in Platinum and I upgraded the pickups to a PRS USA Tremonti neck pickup and a DiMarzio MT1 bridge pickup (the MT1 is a one off pickup I bought for $40 on ebay and when I called DiMarzio they said it is like an Evolution bridge pickup but a little hotter and same clarity) and I have a 2008 PRS SC250 in Tobacco Burst with the PRS Birds. I just got an old 1997 Ibanez RG450DX on ebay that I'm gonna fix up also. So for me it's Ibanez and PRS all the way
you can do anything on a strat that ISNT metal. stratocaster doesnt even look "metal" and the single coils do no justice, ibanez can do both and looks sexii ^_^ ;P
Both guitars are good enough. Most famous guitarists 50 years back had guitar with crappier quality than the beginners guitars available now (I didnt say that)
But today if you perform on a stage like as good as jimi hendrix, you wont be a hero like jimi coz you have a crappy 'squire' or 'ibanez gio'. Its the truth.
both the squire and ibanez if setup properly can be as good as those 2000$ guitars (it might not last as long as those though).
@666lucifer1980 (1/2) i thought you meant if you took a regular amp and added in, say, a boss super shifter. the laney amp sounds great to me from other reviews. the octaver, or octave effect, makes the guitar sound one octave higher. lets say you have a 24 fret electric guitar. octave effects sound exactly the same as putting a capo on the twelth fret, except you will have all 24 frets instead of only twelve. so, now with the octave effect, the twelfth fret sounds now like the 24th fret.
@666lucifer1980 (2/2)do you get it? it can be confusing. the octave on that amp might also include octave down, or octave up 2 ovtaves or octave down 2 octaves. same rules apply tho octave down. thss is like you drop your low E string to an even lower E. This is only possible by using an octave effect. an octave down sounds like a bass guitar. thats all you need to know. good luck!

all fender guitars (including squire) have a warmer, more bluesy sound ... i own an ibanez rg 350dx and i love it but i am thinking about buying a telecaster because i find my ibanez and my KKV sound very harsh and i would like a sweeter sounding guitar ... i guess it's all about preferance and what's being played

There both not bad guitars, just REALLY depends on the sound tht you want. If you want a clean, blues, rock sound you would be happier with the squier. If you want a rock, hard rock, metal sound your better off with the ibanez.

the best guitars out there are schecters, i used to be into fender, than i went for ibanez, ive tried jacksons and hated them completly then playing schecters, and they have served me well
avoid squier at all costs. they SUCK in tuning AND quality. my friend's squier neck was loose from the body when it was bought.
ibanez arent really metal guitars. its more for shredding and versatilty. it does not really have the great metal sound as esp and jackson does. it has the thinnest and the flattest neck in the guitar market.
on the other side there are ibanez art and artcores which are totally the opposite.
Kinda unequeal competition, cuz an RG270 costs twice as much as an Affinity Strat here.
I approve that Squier electrics are bad at tuning (acoustics aren't), but it can be fixed. Once I blocked the tremolo bridge with a hardwood wedge inside my Deluxe Strat, it stays in tune nicely ever since.
The RG270's Floyd Rose bridge represents a wholly different aspect. They're for different purposes.
I needed the Squier, bought it long ago, and I'm happy with it. But not an Affinity. Don't buy that.

Squiers are way batter than the lower end Ibanez guitars. (the quality anyway) I just feel like I might break a cheap Ibanez because of the extremely thin cutaways. They do sound better when it comes to metal, but squire has it beat in any other department. (blues, rock, jazz, etc)

Squiers are fine. All you do is set it up, change the pickups and the bridge and you can make a fantastic instrument out of it.

@666lucifer1980 (1/2) i thought you meant if you took a regular amp and added in, say, a boss super shifter. the laney amp sounds great to me from other reviews. the octaver, or octave effect, makes the guitar sound one octave higher. lets say you have a 24 fret electric guitar. octave effects sound exactly the same as putting a capo on the twelth fret, except you will have all 24 frets instead of only twelve. so, now with the octave effect, the twelfth fret sounds now like the 24th fret.

@666lucifer1980 (2/2)do you get it? it can be confusing. the octave on that amp might also include octave down, or octave up 2 ovtaves or octave down 2 octaves. same rules apply tho octave down. thss is like you drop your low E string to an even lower E. This is only possible by using an octave effect. an octave down sounds like a bass guitar. thats all you need to know. good luck!

all fender guitars (including squire) have a warmer, more bluesy sound ... i own an ibanez rg 350dx and i love it but i am thinking about buying a telecaster because i find my ibanez and my KKV sound very harsh and i would like a sweeter sounding guitar ... i guess it's all about preferance and what's being played

i like fender. and believe it or not, i think epiphone is better than gibson. I've had my cheap ($160 new) epi sg special and have had no problems exept tuners (which is a given), but my dad's gibson les paul went to the guitar shop to get a new nut, new frets, get the bridge adjusted, and all this shit. AND IT WAS BRAND FUCKIN NEW!

There both not bad guitars, just REALLY depends on the sound tht you want. If you want a clean, blues, rock sound you would be happier with the squier. If you want a rock, hard rock, metal sound your better off with the ibanez.

avoid squier at all costs. they SUCK in tuning AND quality. my friend's squier neck was loose from the body when it was bought.
ibanez arent really metal guitars. its more for shredding and versatilty. it does not really have the great metal sound as esp and jackson does. it has the thinnest and the flattest neck in the guitar market.
on the other side there are ibanez art and artcores which are totally the opposite.

Kinda unequeal competition, cuz an RG270 costs twice as much as an Affinity Strat here.
I approve that Squier electrics are bad at tuning (acoustics aren't), but it can be fixed. Once I blocked the tremolo bridge with a hardwood wedge inside my Deluxe Strat, it stays in tune nicely ever since.
The RG270's Floyd Rose bridge represents a wholly different aspect. They're for different purposes.
I needed the Squier, bought it long ago, and I'm happy with it. But not an Affinity. Don't buy that.

Squiers are way batter than the lower end Ibanez guitars. (the quality anyway) I just feel like I might break a cheap Ibanez because of the extremely thin cutaways. They do sound better when it comes to metal, but squire has it beat in any other department. (blues, rock, jazz, etc)
