  • I wanna make wushu babies with Liu Qing Hua but alas, she is married. I need to go to BU and find me a good wuwife.

  • I train old school. My teacher is US Wushu Team circa 1986. I will alway practice and teach old school. I would try to influence my teacher's teacher who is chairman of the major federation but who am I to tell him. Maybe I should ask what he thinks instead.

  • almost no jumps.....lots of intricate stuff....love it!

  • i got trained by her xDXD

  • 中國!!絕對強!!!

  • If anyone is still reading this thread, I have to agree that this is not a golden time in wushu. the 70's and 80's had more taste and spirit even though the 90's had some great players. I am sad to see it move more toward flash and gymnastics over spirit and martial. It's worse now that ever with the rediculous broadsword 540 spin jumps and crap. That has nothing to do with wushu as it was taught to me by Li Xue Mei from Changsha.

  • I'd like to add that I am not commenting on Liu Qing Hua...big fan. :)

  • I totally agree with you on this, nitrousn2o. It's getting so off-track, I don't even understand what they're doing anymore. But then to be fair to whoever is changing the direction of wushu, they have make it tougher with all those difficult stunts and ridiculous chereography because otherwise everybody, especially China, will be getting 10.0 soon.

  • I'm a nandu competitor and I have to say that even most of us don't like the way things are going. Luckily as the weapons categories don't have the nandu rules things have started to regress and competitors are finding the art again. I just hope they ditch nandu for the fist categories soon.

  • the 90's were like the 80's but on steroids, the 90's understood a deeper level of fluidity and grace the people of the 80's didn't understand. for example, yuan wen qing, and liu hai, jiangbangjun, liu qing hua, yuan xindong, to name a few. however, the 80's are still damn good.

  • She's just fit!

  • what? yuan wen qing had a lot of spirit. I don't think the turning point was until this generation, w/ zhao changjun and whatnot. Now it seriously looks like gymnastics. And when it actually has some wushu elements, they do it too fast.

  • Yea...very crisp...but her and Yuan Wen Qing (no offense to either of them) really show the turning point from old school wu shu to the ...newer stuff...both very good but they lack spirit.

  • If by 'lack spirit', you mean their basics were better than current generations, than yes, you're right. Otherwise, I think you should re-evaluate your comparison. The difference is old school emphasizes basics, new school emphasizes difficulties.

  • Oh..I completely agree with that...To me Liu Qing Hua and Yuan Wen Qing are both in a group of their own. They are what I would consider the last of the old school...with their amazing skills, technique and difficulties. I think I might have used the wrong choice of words...what I meant to say is that one of the others(whom I was comparing to LQH) had more of a straightsword look...despite LQH's amazing speed. For the record, I'm a huge fan of Liu Qing Hua and Yuan Wen Qing^^

  • Yes.... youre right... chinese straightsword... is.. i dont know how to say... but my teacher... says "the straightsword must have a spirit or soul..." :) Im practicing chang sui jian /long tassel straightsword/ i think LQH is one of the best... but... she doesnt have the... feeling... i dont know... i will never be on that level... so nevermind... I also saw her practicing... chang sui jian... it was amazing... but.. she dropped the sword in the end of the form... but it was great...

  • exactly...overall she is amazing but, the girl I was comparing her to really seems to "prefer" the straightsword.

  • The Greatest wushu athlete! But thats not her best form, her best is her jian shu at 1997 All China Games. Some may argue that Zhang Hui or Zhang Shao Yi are superior, but in my opinion, LQH's technique is more crisp and direct.

  • "But thats not her best form"

    What you on????
