Sometimes the sand/dirt is too loose to make a start, due to the sun or just the wrong kind of sand.

Then the contest leader will decide to allow every tractor a little push (given by the contest leader him/herself to make it as fair as possible).

Another possibility is, that this particular tractor wasn't in the contest at all and the run was just for fun.

putting forced induction actually decreases 2 stroke performance... basically shoots the fuel out the exhuast so you have to run then leaner. leaner means hotter.... hotter isnt good

Why call it sad? Millions of folks around the world either buy ready to run or build and race RC cars and trucks. This is just another challenge for someone with model making/engineering skills. Some say that riding motox is just macho posing, but it's just another hobby. Personally I've ridden trials and trails and I race RC on/off road. If you use some imagination, you'll see that the only pastimes that are lame, are those that harm people or animals.

The 'static' you hear is actually the exhaust. The system they are running is not quite open enough to really let it roar. Thats why you get yourself a custom copper exhaust like me and it sounds badass I had a monster truck model with a 2 speed transmission and a racing motor with various mods that would do 95 easily... very fun hobbie
