It was the terribly awkward writing in Star Wars that made her character seem floppy (no way near as cool as Princess Leia), I think Natalie Portman did the best she could with the awful romance scenes.
Working my way through these videos at long last, but I felt I had to comment on this one simply because Lost in Translation is my favourite film of all time to watch. I could watch at any time, over and over. The performances (particularly from Murray), the interesting and refreshing take on the holiday romance/forbidden love idea, and Coppola's fantastic soundtrack, all make for a fantastic film.
Love Actually=AWESOME. I love the intertwined stories of all the characters. The constant "countdown to christmas" thing they do makes it a movie I only really enjoy around xmas, but it's a good watch anytime :)
Ah Lost in translation..Its by watching this movie that i knew for the 1st time about the Suntory Company, and since then i want to taste their Millenium whisky..lol,It's Suntory time!anyway, bill murray was awesome in this movie.Love Actually was nice too and i loved master and commander.Great taste jason!we have things in common,it's great!
The Godfather (part one and two, and even 3 is okay) ROCKS!
Lock, Stock and 2 Barrels was also a great film. And I luved THE LIMEY - it was an oddly emotional film. I also have Dark City and though I luv the cinematography, I have trouble getting through the movie in one sitting. And I love ship/naval movies. You have great taste J. ;-)
I know you have past these letter already, but check out Boiler Room, and how can you pass the Fith Element or Conan? Those are great films. Boiler Room is a fantastic drama and I really think you would like the movie.
I'll mention this in an upcoming vlog, but this binder only represents about 1/3 of my DVDs, and only about 1/5 of my overall movie collection when you add in laserdiscs.
The first Conan is a great film! I've heard they might try to remake it, but I hope they don't. No one can top AHnuld in that flick!
I saw Boiler Room - decent flick. Vin Diesel doing his best Alec Baldwin from Glengarry Glen Ross impersonation.
I've never been much interested in a movie's preconditions, like who wrote it or who directed it. Usually I watch anything and everything and if I like it... well, then I like it, so of what importance is a director? :-)
What might deter me is the acting cast, but the only one I really dislike is Tom Cruise, so there's only a fraction of films I'm biased against.
I'll assume you're being a wee bit facetious with the directors remark. :)
I used to see just about anything. In my 20s, I routinely went to see about 100 movies a year at the theater - or about 2 per week, plus many more on video/dvd.
But as I grow older, I've become more discriminating with my time, and certain genres (such as the recent trend in horror of torture porn) hold little interest for me.
Have you seen Peter Weir's The Last Wave with Richard Chamberlin? I watched just to call some time and really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed Besson's The 5th Element.
Do you have a comic book collection? I wouldn't mind seeing a vlog on your comic books. I would love to see your collection. Good dvd vlogs. Keep it up Jason! Woohoo! =)
Yes - you could say I have a comic book collection, but friends that have helped me move it before would say I have a comic book store. :)
I have a storage unit in SD that I've paid monthly for for 5 years almost - it mainly stores my many long boxes of comics. But I am gonna do a comics vlog in the future at the request of another subscriber.
I'd love to hear more fro you on comics. While recording my movieramble this evening, I thought I could easily do the same thing (at further length, even) on comics.
I typically follow directors. Terry Gilliam, Wes Anderson, Frank Darabont, Brad Bird, Chan Wook Park, Guy Ritchie. Anything made by these guys is gonna have my interest.
I've never paid much attention to writers, though, aside from, perhaps, Harold Ramis. And I've never followed actors, though I do love seeing Morgan Freeman or Bill Murray.

There are parts of 5th Element I love - like the opera sequence. But I prefer La Femme Nikita or Leon for Besson films.
I have seen the Last Wave, but it was a long time ago. I remember enjoying it.

All good directors. I haven't seen any of Park's films yet, as the DVDs here tend not to have any English subtitles.
