Same here. Back in the day I would record songs from my favorite anime/cartoon shows and video games. I have this and the ending theme somewhere with all my cassette tapes.

Musically with the Japanese version, the opening was pretty good, but for the rest of the series...."meh!". With the English version, all around the music was on point for the moods, settings and such.
I'd go with the English version any day, but still gotta give some props for the Japanese opening.
I disagree. The English Opening and Ending completely made Dominion Tank Police. I think if they didn't redo they songs then the series would have fell flat because as you say, the English versions are more on point with the setting and tone of the anime.
I credit Shirow with a good idea and story, but the English directors for bringing sound to a great storyboard.
@autoduck The guy who made tank police made it was back in the 80s, maybe even 70s, and metal slug copied it in the 90s. the anime is fun and goofy, and Metal Slug is still one of my favorite games/series.

This intro is good, too bad the rest of the dub is awful. I always watch it with the Japanese audio track and subtitles.

Probably because SNK ripped it of tank police. Tank police came out long before the first metal slug game did.
