Hey Racer, do you know where Mike Joy mentions Sterling Marlin's exhaust note? Was it in the 500 or during Speedweeks? I know he was among the first to pick up on the Dr. Gas exhaust system they were using to make a few extra horses, and it really gave them a huge heads up on the rest of the field that year. In 96 though, just about everyone knew about it and the cat was out of the bag. Still a good story though, can't do stuff like that now because NASCAR would get pissed. Sad. Godd win Marlin

Jeez, Morgan/McClure sure went downhill. I miss those days of prominence for the ol' #4 Kodak car.

This was the first race that Morgan/ McClure (Sterling Marlin) used the Dr.GAs exhaust system. All the other teams turned them down. It made his car sound like an indy car. It gave the kodak car more hp than their best exhaust system. The following year, every nascar team was using the same system. Earnhardt gave it a hell of a run though.

@racermac1988 Please, every time a Ford won a race, there was a rule change the next week to subtract front valence from the T-Birds. NASCAR has been grossly slanted towards Chevy more or less ever since Davey Allison died. He was the only Ford driver with that true "superstar" aura. They never gave a crap about Mark Martin, and even penalized him for a questionable "infraction" in 97 when he was fighting tooth and nail with Gordon for the championship. Chevy got away with murder for years.
