Nazi German army was feeding from the locals instead of using resources from the homeland. You must understand that Poland was already crushed when soviet troops began to invade it. Germany had already totally defeated Poland - it just gave to Soviet Union it's national territories. USSR even didn't declare official war - just came and took.

The USSR was a great supplier of german war machine 1939-41 and a lot of trade agreements were made. Also the era contained military co-operation, in some extent mutual operation.
The military co-operation had not any signifant results and it was never anything like fight side-by-side. Still it existed. For example the germans blockadet Finland by sea in the witer war and fueled soviet submarines. When the germans entered to Norway some troops came from secret base in Kola penisula.

About killing according etnic criteria. I don´t think that it was ethnic criteria in first place in Stalins purges. It was more or less random and Stalin killed a lot of russians too. In some places the purges were more hard than in others and didn´t touch different ethnic groups equally. It is possible that for example in East-Karelia the selection were made by lover level officers.

Reason why there's so much anti-Soviet sentiment is because USSR stuck their nose into Finland, Romania, the Baltics, and eastern Poland, just before and during the first months of a world war they jointly started with Germany. The reason Russians starved in the Nazi occupied zone is because Germans confiscated all the food from the locals. Nazi German army was feeding from the locals instead of using resources from the homeland. Nazi leadership knew that because of their policies up to 20 millions could die, but it served their purpose.

You should understand that at the time she was doing it , more 100,000 Russian civilians just died across the river (in Stalingrad) from Nazi German bombings and other killings.
Nazi German soldiers were merciless to Russian civilians because they saw them as subhumans and killing Russian civilians was not considered a crime at all.
We need to see it in context of war on the western front. Also Nazi regime murdered 2.7 millions of the Soviet POW during the first 9 months of war.

The number of different kind socialist/communists murdered is disputed. How you count Hitlers and Stalins victims. Stalins numbers vary up to 40 million and that you offer is somekind of minimum. In Maos biography is stated that he murdered about 80 million so propably he was also the master of intensity in the dark years of culture revolution.

The numbers evaluated by professional historians who worked with real data ranges from 13-16 (revised estimates by the Robert Conquest) to the lower end (8-9 mils estimates by Wheatcroft). If combine amount of deaths caused by the ethnic Nationalism all over the world (Rwanda, Japan, Nazi Germany , Congo) during the 20 century the number will be higher then for any other movement.

Nazi ideology is not even close to facistic thinking. Mussolinis Italy and Francos Spain did not even have a real state ideology. Nazi had strong corporatist elements, where the government has significant control over private enterprise, but did not entirely co-opt it "Third Way" Also they were driven by nationalistic and/or ethnic divisions. So clearly Nazi stand in line with other nationalistic/fascist movements though more radical then many of them.

Kurt von Schleicher and Franz von Papen had in mind corporative system following propably Italian model, but the nazies didn´t share the power. The nazies had a corporative element in their economy, but nature was different than in facist countries.

Most of civilian casualities in Germany were due to US carpet bombingf cities. Both my father-in-law and my mother fought in the Red Army and they told me.

You must understand that Poland was already crushed when soviet troops began to invade it. Germany had already totally defeated Poland - it just gave to Soviet Union it's national territories. USSR even didn't declare official war - just came and took.

It really didn´t go that way. The red army was in trouble in Poland as it was in much deeper troble later in Finland. It is true that it was succesful when the poles had spent most of their recources against the germans. By the way the USSR didn´t declare war against Finland either.

OSCE just pointed out with votes 377 - 8 "two major totalitarian regimes, the Nazi and the Stalinist, which brought genocide, violations of human rights and freedoms, war crimes and crimes against humanity." The resolution would make August 23 a day of remembrance for victims of Stalinism and Nazism. So thats what Europe and USA think Abut it.

But it wasn´t much more than two decedes ago, when USSR disclaimed strictly any kind of co-operation with the nazies. In Finland russians are quite a big immigrant group and I know some people and nothing bad to say about them and I also have friends in st Petersburg. Russians are just people like everyone else, but yes there is big cultural differences and political culture is totaly different. About Molotov-Ribbentrop. It was not only a deal where totalitarian regiemes shared smaller countries with each other. It started a whole new era of co-operation between Germany and the USSR. The USSR was a great supplier of german war machine 1939-41 and a lot of trade agreements were made. Also the era contained military co-operation, in some extent mutual operation.

The military co-operation had not any signifant results and it was never anything like fight side-by-side. Still it existed. For example the germans blockadet Finland by sea in the witer war and fueled soviet submarines. When the germans entered to Norway some troops came from secret base in Kola penisula.

About killing according etnic criteria. I don´t think that it was ethnic criteria in first place in Stalins purges. It was more or less random and Stalin killed a lot of russians too. In some places the purges were more hard than in others and didn´t touch different ethnic groups equally. It is possible that for example in East-Karelia the selection were made by lover level officers.
