This was back during The Bodyguard days. Actually, the following song she sings after this is "I have nothing" and the song before this one was called "I loves you Porgy". It was from the American Music Awards. I actually still had this on tape and transferred it to DVD. It's my favorite live performance of Whitney. She was flawless that night and had the crowd on their feet.

This is definately one of my favorite renditions of this song, she has a very powerful voice but her tone is just a lot more attractive than Holiday's and Hudsons however i feel as if a pretty tone isn't what this song calls for. I feel like this is the prettiest rendition i've ever heard without sacrificing power, and feels more original than any other, but I think Hudson's was the most vocally impressive by far and Holidays was the most heartfelt and powerful

I think Charice is absolutely amazing, but you have to keep in mind who even she herself says are her musical influences: Celine Dion, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, and WHITNEY HOUSTON. Whitney is a legend, one who has left young singers a HUGE legacy. There's really no comparison to someone who is still relatively new to the industry - even if that someone has incredible natural talent.
The only person who ever used to compete with Whitney by a long shot was Deborah Cox, and her vocal skills is craazy. By the way Whitney is a mezzo soprano. There are probably only ten singers who can perform this song at any kind of level.

I keep coming back to this because she does such an amazing performance!! Her vocals are so powerful and emotive on it!! Go Whitney!! One of the best for sure!

we all KNOW whitney is by far the gold standard of the voices-better than celine,mariah,etc. whitney set that bar very high and people are just grasping for it.

This is definately one of my favorite renditions of this song, she has a very powerful voice but her tone is just a lot more attractive than Holiday's and Hudsons however i feel as if a pretty tone isn't what this song calls for. I feel like this is the prettiest rendition i've ever heard without sacrificing power, and feels more original than any other, but I think Hudson's was the most vocally impressive by far and Holidays was the most heartfelt and powerful

I think Charice is absolutely amazing, but you have to keep in mind who even she herself says are her musical influences: Celine Dion, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, and WHITNEY HOUSTON. Whitney is a legend, one who has left young singers a HUGE legacy. There's really no comparison to someone who is still relatively new to the industry - even if that someone has incredible natural talent.

The only person who ever used to compete with Whitney by a long shot was Deborah Cox, and her vocal skills is craazy. By the way Whitney is a mezzo soprano. So she could basically crush any artist in a song. If it wasnt for whitney, singers like Charice wouldnt even be singing. She obviously admires Whitney because she loves to sing her music. There is nothing wrong with that. However lets not discredit Whitney just because she is not out right now. Her legacy remains and is still #1...

there are lots of singing prodigy and charice is one of them. To compare charice with another established singers is an overstatemet. Reaching to Diva's standard is not only about having good voice but personality, charisma etc. We have yet to see charice's path. Many young singers went down hill after one hit wonder.
