  • After seeing Lee Pace in "The Fall" I knew he would do this true story justice. Saw it for the first time tonight and was blown away.

  • I wonder if Calpernia still went into a relationship after Barry's death. Not that I'm saying she couldn't, it's just that finding the kind of love that Barry has for Calpernia happens only once in a person's life. Whether straight woman/man or transwoman/man. His love is real, clean, and passionate. If I could find a person who would love me like that, I don't think I'll find another one even after they died. I don't know that's just the kind of person I am. Great love is happens only once.

  • This movie is sweet and sad the same time. I loved it, but what makes this movie a little bit bullshit is they made the murderer and the culprit appear that they have psychological issues when clearly in the real story they know exactly what they're doing. They maybe were drunk but they do not have a psychological problem. Because 1st of all you will not get accepted in the military or any armed forces of united states if you have problems mentally.

  • Did the soldier die in this movie? I hope not.

  • @jeangreyfan Yes he did die. He was brutally beaten to death by a fellow soldier with a bat. Just the way the person (soldier) was in real life.

  • otimo otimo so que eu como transsex nao operada nao sei ainda quem deseja um trans e hetero ou gay ou que e nem eu que sou trans sei mas o filme e otimo eu recomendo

  • It's sad knowing that it's based off of a true story, and being stationed at the army post where it happened at, and knowing that this still happens is sickening. It may not happen to the severity of the incident that happened in this movie, but it still happens.

  • @Armychick0729 I know it still happens and the severity doesn't matter. What matters is that there are people like you out there that see it and find it sickening. I know that there really isn't much you yourself can do to change what the world is, knowing that there are people like you in it gives us all hope for the future. God bless and Thank you for your service to our country

  • It is sp amzing what people do to some one finding out the eaither they have some time of curiousity of being with an other man or a trangender women as I am this movie has touch me in somany ways and I can related to it in some parts it so tragic but nso true this movie is pretty much is base on real fact that does happen only if there was a way we could cahnge it

  • this trailer is so shit, but the movie is FANTASTIC, i think its definitely up there just because its so real.

  • do anyone no a website that let you watch the whole movie

  • @1:02 cute

  • oh man, this movie made me cry

  • What are the soldiers singing? "faggy faggy down the street..." and then? What is the name of the song?

  • They needed a better make-up artist for Lee Pace.........he needed way more concealer...........the thick professional kind!

  • On a lighter note, this movie made me question my sexuality. Lee Pace dancing to "the Consequences of Falling" by KD Lang is surprisingly one of the hottest things I've ever seen.

  • I'm aware this movie was based on real events with real people, but I think the ending of the movie was a little unsatisfying. If Winchell was accurately portrayed, then he wouldn't have wanted Calpernia to have the surgery. It's sad that she never accepted and loved who she really was...but at least she's happy now.

  • @WandererInWonderland Accepting and loving who she is is EXACTLY what she's done. If someone needed to have their appendix removed, would you criticize them for "not being happy with who they are?" Or people who wear eye glasses? Or people who correct any birth defect you can name? It's the same type of thing. She IS and WAS a woman. The surgery was another way to help the outside match what was inside.

  • fantastic movie...should have won all awards..bar none..but then, it's only fitting it didnt. We live in a dumb world.

  • Lee Pace is gorgeous every which way he wants.

  • Lee Pace was so great in this role.

  • Ah, Lee Pace did excellent! :D

  • I did my 12th grade term paper on the "dont ask, don't tell" policy and we had to include people or whatever and I found Barry Winchell and read & wrote all about him in my paper. I learned about this movie and I decided to buy it. When I watched it, I cried so hard. That had never happened to me before while watching a movie.

  • lee pace has such a beautiful AND handsome face :) <3

  • hi can someone tell me the song of this movie what is it pls ? and this movies i love it alot xxx :)

  • Lee is soooooo beautiful and hawtttt

  • vi la pelicula y fue realmente emocionante la historia

  • loved Lee, loved this movie.. n will always love it..

  • this is both the sweetest and the saddest film i have ever seen. i watched it last night and cried like a little girl at the end :(

  • OMG LEE PACE!!

  • Such a beautiful movie!!!

  • This movie really really upsets me. I watched it when i was 16 and not expecting the outcome to end like that at all. It's horrible that ppl can't be open minded or even accepting. Never the less it's a great movie.

  • haha only in the army...fags

  • I did a google image search on Calpernia Addams after reading comments bashing Lee Pace's "masculine appearance". She looked/looks very plastic and artificial. Lee Pace looks lovely and without the benefit of any hormone therapy. I can't believe people are seriously having issues with his "masculinity".

  • @KaylaComb i am embarrass to have the same name as you

  • i dont think i can watch this movie...i would just die, it's too depressing but i really want to watch it but i'll end up crying like a baby...i mean i'm still not over Queer as Folk

  • Wow, Lee Pace makes such a lovely girl. I think no one could resist that smile. I wonder why I never heard of this movie before..

  • just watched this movie..it made me cry.. Barry Winchell, poor boy..

  • I admire to their love. It's sealed to my heart. Soldiers, or whoelse, they have a private rights to love.

  • O.M.G...NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I'm never going to be able to look at Lee Pace the same way again! He isnt gay...really, is he?

  • @KaylaComb I was about to write a sarcastic comment about how Eric Bana is also the Hulk in real-life, but I'm trying to moderate my bitchiness.

Lee Pace probably isn't really gay. But whether he is or isn't, you should wish him good luck either way, eh?

  • @custardispeasant HA, ok? I'm not that dumb. I just hate when hot guys play a fag in a movie.

  • @KaylaComb Oooh... right. I thought you were being a moron; turns out you just hate gay people. Honest mistake. My bad.

  • @KaylaComb I've only heard a couple of people use the word 'fag' in that context and they were all morons.

  • A Wolffian Male Soldier falls in love with the forbidden Wolffian Female, happens more often the folks realize. Even Müllerian Females fall in love with many Wolffian Females and never really realize why they did, but it is really due to the fact the Wolffian they married thinking they were a typical Wolffian Male, had very Female characteristics instead, being in fact Female.

I'm a Wolffian Female, like many before, who marries a Müllerian Female, hoping to cancel the 'Female' in myself, NOT!

  • i need to watch that movie now

  • I ADMIRE THIS STORY THEY DEFEND THEIR LOVE DOESNT MATER SEXUALITY OR COLOR ONLY LOVE TO ANOTHER

  • Wow. At least try to sound like a girl. This movie is hilarious. Like its him in love with someone who doesn't look like their even trying.

  • OMG Its lee pace!!!!

NOW I CAN HEP BUT SEE HIM IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT ! oh gosh hahahaha

  • Why is this not more sensational than Brokeback Mountain? First of all, I like how accurate this movie is and the fact that it shows 2 people being victimized for loving each other...Unlike BBM that features gay guys cheating on their wives...whatever the plot/reasoning was in that movie, gay/straight, cheating is still cheating. Bottom line: SG is underrated, more poignant and haunting than BBM. I especially LOVED the boat scene...makes me cry for some reason

  • @blackviper88 for this cmmt i'll watch the movie

  • @blackviper88 The differences between both movies are not that simple. Like Soldier's Girl, Brokeback Mountain deals with sexual identity and the problematic concept of love/ attraction in an unwelcome, traditionally heterosexual environment. Although the relationship in Soldier's Girl is a public one that faces violence at every turn, the threat of violence is also present (and eventually happens) in the secret, extramarital relationship between Brokeback Mountain's main characters.

  • eww.

  • I really have to watch this.

  • its sad dat da soldier dies in da end

  • @demirocs247 well thanks for spoiling the ending for me.

  • @cmauffray1 how is he spoiling the END when this MOVIE IS BASED OFF A REAL STORY, Type BARRY WINCHELL in damn google bar and u will see that this person REALLY did die for loving a TS named CALPERNIA ADDAMS, who looks and sounds NOTHING like the guy in drag that portrays her. Which thru me off cause um Troy actually almost looks like Barry but Lee looks NOTHING like Calpernia, anyways she's brave, if i was in her i can't say that I could be as strong, yet alone watch a movie about my man's DEATH

  • @demirocs247 You were sad, but I was shocked. Barry Winchell was a pity boy.

  • Comment removed

  • @theeldergoth Actually, pansexual mean you don't judge someone on what they are. You love them for them. A transsexual is what ever sexuality they choose. Gay, or straight, or what ever.

  • This movie is awesome it shows how terrible people can be sometimes. The scenes are very. The first time I watched the movie I was shocked by the facts I did not know anything about the real facts behind the story and still I could not sleep that night, the feelings: how helpless and cruel that death was how stupid how not necessary. I highly recommend this movie

  • very sad story i fell sorry for Barry he get surrounded by bastard beasts! specially fisher he can't keep the shit in his ass!

  • This movie is so beautiful, you dont find many of these around

  • This is an incredible film. I saw it years and years ago. Think I'll pick it up in DVD if available. This is a truly heartbreaking true story.

  • @DarnedEisley Try "Boys Dont Cry". Another great flick. It too is a true story

  • Lee Pace reminds me of Jennifer Beals

  • Wow, this looks really good. I have to say, I am pretty ignorant about transexuals, I don't know any, and I haven't heard much about them. I don't know what sexuality people who are attracted to transexuals are, (is there such word as transexual-sexual?) so it will be very interesting seeing a movie dealing with all these questions I have :D

  • @WallehA : i guess the term u are searching for is "hetero-sexual"

  • @subsilk1 I realized now that I have sounded incredible insensitive in my post. But if it is a transsexual still in transition, the heterosexual term has to be broadened a bit, I would say. Of course, if a transsexual woman already has transitioned, then obviously men who are attracted to her, are straight. But in that gray-zone in between, everything is a bit fluid.

Saw this movie now, and loved it, the most touching movie I have ever seen, never have I cried so much.

  • @WallehA if someone is atrracted to a transsexual man or woman still in transition, you call it pansexual. (or maybe thats just what we call it in germany).

being pansexual means being attracted by bio men, bio women and transexuals/intersexuals and actually everything else :3

(sry for my bad english -.-* :D )

  • Thank you for sharing. It is interesting how the most deepest tabues of society come up to the surface. I had homosexual partners in both military and medical fields, yet they honored their uniforms and institutions not matching their sexual preferences with their or some other's work. If this was true and in spite of all is plainly disgusting. Sorry

  • I haven't seen this film, but if you've ever seen Calpernia, you would know that she actually has a very feminine voice, not like the character in this film. Either way this definitely looks worth watching.

  • OMFG... leepace is a gorgeous woman!

  • is he acually transexual or does he just play one in the movie

  • @goosebumpsgirlgirly4 Just for the movie, but damn did he perform that role well. Watch some of his interviews for the movie, he was almost still in character. However, you'll see a definite difference in how he acts if you compare those to his recent interviews.

  • dang lee pace is looks great as girl.....hopefully its just the makeup :P

  • best movie ever.. because it shows how military men r suppose to be :)))))

  • i vote .... best movie ever ... because it shows how men r supposed to be :)

  • I fucking love Lee Pace, I wanna see this!

  • i have to watch this for Human Sexuality in Psychology, looks good

  • Lee Pace is such a great actor, he has sooooo many different roles under his belt and this one really surprised me. I can't wait to see this movie!

  • OMG, lee pace looks really different and skinny!

i like him more in the fall, well obviously :)

  • It's not fair that Lee Pace looks so good as a woman and as a man. :/

  • @ninjapretender haha, you're right!

  • OMG holy shit. i was like, "who is lee pace? i recognize the name but not the face..."

holy shit it's LEE PACE! i completely did not recognize him!!

  • When I first heard that Lee Pace was playing a transsexual woman, I was like "Ahhh, no... He does NOT look feminine in any way, he's way to hot as a guy!"

I was obviously proven wrong! He looks quite womanly and pretty in this role...

I have not seen the movie yet, but after seeing this trailer I am curious to see how good the movie is, especially after I saw him in an interview saying that he got a role (I think he was talking about Pushing Daisies) through this movie...

  • I am lesbian for Calpernia Addams.

  • i only wont watch this movie coz i know ill cry my eyes out like a lil'bitch then be depressed every time i think about it ='(

  • i feel so bad for lee pace :(

  • wow fuck glover

  • holy fucking shit that was a sad movie

  • this is a joke...right?

  • This movie is SO AWESOME! I haven't thought of it in ages until I heard Lee Pace was going to be in Twilight: Breaking Dawn. He acted the HELL outta that role. [shuffles off to Amazon to order film...]

  • Lee Pace looks beautiful in this movie. What a great movie

  • Lee Pace is just fudging hot! :)

  • ah if only I could bash in heads everytime somebody did something I disliked... this movie is really f'd up.. until the tragic outcome a beautiful love story.. gay or straight how may people can say they've experienced love like that. Very well done and Pace looked amazing.. and I'm straight

  • i don't understand why people can't handle some people being different.

i'm glad congress and obama passed the matthew shepard act against hate crimes.

  • War and combat does things to those in the military. And if one has to go to the darkside/look things past the looking glass, then go be it.

Watching this movie during AIT down in Virginia was hard enough, but purchasing it on my weekend pass and not get caught was another story.

Don't ask, never tell, and always look before you take the plunge.

  • fort campbell is like ten mins from the school i'll be studying at!!!!!!! i'll steer clear of the gaybashers!!!!!

  • he makes a pretty girl

  • i'm also a transvestite....this story breaks my heart! i was in tahiti when i meet this american soldiers it was a the only club in tahiti where i was drinkin my margarita when a group of soldiers come to me and ask my name...i was so embarrassed to let them know i'm a transvestite!so what they see on me is a real girl so i keep my identity...1 guy had my attention & i went out on him!but our relationship ends because he is a soldier!and he wants his name to be clean!

  • @rea1431 That's so sad. i watched the movie too and i loved it. it's definitely a love story. being gay, transvestite doesn't' make the person a freak. I hate it when people criticize gay and transvestite people. i think that all people are free to do ANYTHING they want as long as they don't hurt other. I am pretty sure that soldier misses you, and he's going to regret not being with you, anymore. good day :)

  • @normayestela that's EXACTLY how i explain it to people. as long as you're not hurting anyone, then who cares? it's what my mother taught me, and what i'm going to teach my children.

  • This movie was amazing. It was beautifully heartbreaking.

  • Being a transsexual and a veteran this movie really hits home for me

  • beyond words. Lee Pace deserved an Oscar for this role, hello? he actually made himself a girl. He was a beautiful, sensitive girl in this movie. Oh my Gosh, he is so talented and very very charming! Lee Pace rules

  • @misshalicious what about cillian murphy in Breakfast in Pluto? there are plenty others who have played transexuals, so you might want to add your reasoning besides the fact that he made himself a girl. (I'm not saying he didn't deserve it or anything.)

  • Holly shit !! :D

  • Lee Pace is handsome, im straight but lets me tell you something, he in this movie looks really beautiful! You know when you saw a girl in a movie and is like you are in love with that girl all the movie! But in the end is a guy o.o

    Who Cares?! :P

  • wow the transsexual is really pretty..O_O

  • @cuixinshi She is... look her up. :)

  • just watched it and my God fisher and glover were just nuts how the movie displayed them to be. but are they? i think they are insecure homophobics and they did the killing as intentional and they knew exactly what they were doing. i mean come on that fisher guy was making out with a transsexual himself. what the hell? the movie was kind enough to give them mentally ill sentiment to those ridiculous murderers. hope they rot in hell.

  • i seen this movie so many times at the store nd i was wondering wht it was lol now i know, it looks good lol

  • seems like an interesting movie

  • I literally finished watching this movie minutes ago. Best thing i've ever seen.

The fact it's true just makes it all the more awful.

    I cried, and I just can't stop...

  • Is it weird to say that he actually looks quite pretty as a girl?

  • haha is was just thinking the same thing!

  • @TheNeonCupcake nope

  • @TheNeonCupcake so pretty! :D

  • @TheNeonCupcake not that weird!!!

  • @TheNeonCupcake He does!!!

  • @TheNeonCupcake its not really dat weird

  • whoaaaaaaa.... that was lee pace? i only half-recognised him by his voice!

  • RIP BaRRY

  • Excellent movie and so tragic. May Barry Winchell rest in peace and the bastards that killed him rot in hell!

  • OMG. I didn't know it was Lee Pace playing the girl in it. I love this film!!

  • magnificent movie, but the trailer is so horrible.

  • Calpernia is Lee Pace of Pushing Daisies and The Fall. He is stunning in this role, he is nominated for several awards including Golden Globe.

Great actor and very touching story.

  • very emotional and toughing movie word the watch :) peace&love alana:D

  • the only thing stopping me from seeing this is that calpernia is played like a drag queen from what i can see here.

but she is an incredibly beautiful woman.

    not that it matters...

but i wouldn't have known that she was transexual unless she was so open about it.

  • @Jaxxon82 Calpernia's played by a guy. Who dresses as a guy in his own time. o_O

  • rofl i will treasure that kiss in my mind forever whenever i see lee pace

  • wth Calpernia is NOT EVEN CLOSE to looking masculine...

  • where can i see this movie??

  • i think its up at( stagevu ) :)

  • I just found out a fact (which is probably an old news in US) that the director (frank pierson) apparently is the screenwriter of my (one of) all time favourite movie : DOG DAY AFTERNOON (1975)! Which also follows a story about tranvestite-straight love relationship

Well, anyone find a bit 'unusual'? or just a coincedence? it seems like a parallel storyline (and both films were based on true events for sure as well) Is he a "renowned master" in this field? I wouldn't know

    Anyway, good movie!

  • Except this is not a transvestite story, it's about a TRANSSEXUAL WOMAN.

  • oh seeing lee pace as a girl is different. great actor.

  • Actually content this is a story of true love not of the mentally ill the only mentally ill person here is you for taking something as beautiful as love and trash talking it I bet you aren't even loved i think you need the real help your probably as fucked up as the guy who killed barry winchell you dumb ass

  • Everyone's a little freaky in their own way. My mother was told she was all sorts of sick when she married my Dad, because she's punjabi and he's white. Can I ask why you are so hostile towards transexuality?

  • you need to put more tags on this it tool me forever to find

  • Wow, Lee's performance looks brilliant. It would be an extremely hard challenge for a man to undertake that but he suceeded. :]

  • the best movie in the world, i love it.. lol

  • Aww its brill to see Lee pace did some other acting before pushing daisies tho i had seen him in the fall i love pretty much everything he's in and i really want to see this

  • He does! Still hot to me :)

  • I'm..... bothered by the casting for Calpernia. I know her. There's nothing remotely masculine about her. Not her face, not her voice. She's not even that bloody tall. And not only did Gay Rights groups co-opt her story for their own purposes, trivializing her womanhood so they could call the murder a gaybashing, but they cast a man to play her who is barely feminine and doesn't even TRY to correct his deep resonant voice. Calpernia and her dead love both deserve better than this garbage.

  • Don't be a retarded jackass. If you're ignorant of transsexuals, fine. If you can't be bothered to educate yourself, fine, but keep your ignorance and hatred TO YOURSELF. No one needs to hear your garbage. PS - LOTS of bio girls are very tall, and you're wrong about the US average by two inches.

  • lee pace is soooooo pretty!!

    i'm jealous...

  • Wait a minute...So this movie is about a soldier guy in the Army, and there's a gay guy who becomes a woman, and the first soldier guy doesn't know if he likes him or not.

  • No it is about a straight army guy who falls in love with a male to female trans woman and the army guy gets murdered. It is based on a true story I think.

  • Wait, so the army guy loves the woman, but it turns out "she" used to be a "he?" Wait, so the guy really DID get a sex change, or did he just dress up as a girl?

  • She still had male genitals but wanted to get a sex change but it is really expensive and it is a long process and a list of requirements you have to go through.

The army guy loved the woman. Some people like to dress up as the opposite sex while others feel they really are not male or female and get a sex change to become what they feel they are. She felt like a woman and wanted a sex change I imagine she eventually got it.

  • Oh...I see. To be honest: NOBODY GIVE ME A NEGATIVE VOTE.

I used to find transexual surgery to be gross and disturbing. But now that you've explained it, I understand. Thanks for changing my mind. I don't like being hateful towards people of different lifestyles.

  • Cool :)

If you think about it why would someone want to choose to be a minority or in a "category" that is full of discrimination, hatred, and violence? I'm not saying YOU think it is a choice, but some people do.

  • Yeah...I know. There's a movie called "You and I", though it hasn't been played in the U.S. yet. It's about an American girl who moves to Russia and makes a friend there. They're both fans of the Russian duet, t.A.T.u.

The girls end up falling in love, but they run away because of it, perhaps.

  • Yeah I heard of that. One of the girls is played by Mischa Barton and she gives an awful accent in my opinion.

    Did you see it?

  • It hasn't been played in America yet, since it was made in Russia. I've seen a few trailers in English, so that hopefully means that it'll be released in the U.S., too. (There are other countries that speak mostly English). I really want to see it, and if they don't play it in America, I'll be fucken pissed.

I love TATy, but in 2002 in America they usually lipsynched but in Russia they were live. What's up with that?

    I'm American and I don't hate Russians.

  • I don't hate Russians either.. I just thought the actress did a crappy job.

I watch movies and t.v. online now so even if it isn't released in America but somewhere else it might be online. Since it isn't a popular movie it might not get uploaded though.

  • Its the TRUE story of Calpernia Addams and the man who was murdered for loving her.

  • Oh...Wait, so in the true story, it's actually about a man and a woman? or what?
