I wouldn't say Convincing John and Cantus were minor. Granted, they weren't around the Rock much like Jim himself wasn't around much for the show's production--what with being with The Dark Crystal, Farscape, Labryinth, and other ventures--but they were highly influential characters that the Fraggles looked up to. Plus, to Jim, Cantus was practically on the same playing field as his alter-ego, Kermit. That's how special that particular character was to Jim.
We definately are a part of each other. We may be different, but we're still human and this show shows well how one should love all beings, no matter how different. ^_^
We NEED this show back!! Not only was it amazing at face value as a show about musical fuzzy creatures, but the deeper meanings behind each episode are invaluabe!
ztslovebird: Why else do you think Cory Edwards tackled the project of bringing the Fraggle Rock dynamics to the big screen? He wanted a family film that everyone could see.
Good point. But it'll be hard finding replacements for the original cast members. Fingers crossed for them finding the original Mokey (whose name I can never remember), Dave Goelz, and Jerry Nelson making a full recovery from his cancer. But Doc (whose real name I can also never remember) and Richard Hunt are going to be hard (if not impossible) enough to replace for the movie!
ztslovebird: Doesn't mean that won't get most of the original Muppet performers (Jim Henson, Richard Hunt, and possibly Jerry Nelson [he's alive, whereas Jim and Richard aren't] excepting).
I never said they wouldn't. But the original lead Muppeteers were already limited to Kathryn Mullen (who disappeared after the show ended), Dave Goelz, Jerry Nelson, Richard Hunt, Stephen White (99% sure he's been cast as Wembley/Sprocket, lol!), and Karen Prell (not sure if I got her name right, but the puppeteer who played Red/Cutterpin the Doozer). And Jim Henson was surprisingly hands-off with the Fraggles, playing minor characters like Convincing John & Kantus.
ztslove: Actually, Kathryn Mullen performed Cotterpin Doozer & Mokey, Dave Goelz peformed Uncle Matt & Boober & Philo, Jerry Nelson peformed Gobo & Majorie The Trash Heap & Pa Gorg, Steve Whitmire perfomed Wembley & Sprocket's front half, and Karen Prell performed Red & Sprocket's back half, whilst Richard Hunt's principle characters were Junior Gorg & Gunge (he otherwise performed background characters) and Jim Henson himself performed the highly influential roles of Convincin John & Cantus.
That's a nice thought but you just know if they brought it back it just wouldn't be the same. However, I read that the Doozers will be getting a spin-off series soon but I think it will only air in Canada.

Sister and brother,
We're part of each other.
It can make you ache for the sake of another,
And it takes your life and it stakes it too,
And it makes you make the world anew.

1. Mokey is performed by Kathryn Mullen.
2. Gerry Parkes is still alive, whereas Richard Hunt is no longer with us.

Thanks for the info! But since Gerry Parkes is still alive, I think it's safe to assume he's retired.

that an alternante song was played durring closing credits with "Raise Your Voices" for
"Bells Of FR" being the other. ( a remix of Down at FR " was used inthe finale.
