  • snakes and pandas.... lol great looking snake btw i just wish i could convince my mom to let me get one, she just dosent like the idea of more mice and rats in the house lol.

  • Great python mate and I love that there are people like you on YouTube that know what there talking about, keep up the videos !!!!

  • To heat the cage can i use just a heat mat or will i have to use a heat bulb with it, If so what type of light and what watt should the bulb be ??? Please reply

  • I just got a little 1-2 month old coastal x irian jaya a couple days ago, he's about 1'10" or 2' long, he's a real nipper but I haven't fed him yet. Any tips on how to get him used to being handled? He's my first snake so I'm still a little nervous reaching into his tank but apparently I should wait a week before handling him anyways?

Well as I mentioned, any and all pointers would be greatly appreciated. Beautiful snake you have there, he seems very calm and happy, hopefully mine will mellow.

  • awesome vid mate

  • a couple hundred? at least a hundred... at my local pet store they have a jungle carpet python for $169 same as a red tail boa and since eventually im gonna have to breed rats im trying to decide what kind of snake i should get... something farely easy and i dont care on size as long as its not a burmeese or retic... recomend anything?

  • 4 to 5 feet for jungle carpet males

  • carpet pythons cost $99.99 ame going to get one

  • Hey, I have a 55 gallon tall glass tank. Plenty room I assume. But my 5ft IJ keeps trying to push his way out of screen top. I weary of him damaging his nose. A breeder told me cause its mating season. What do you think???

  • panda fetish?

  • I'm getting a carpet python Saturday! Can't wait. Gonna name him Jafar.

  • does it hurt when they bite ?

  • great vid, thank you!

  • gorgeous snake! i personally have 5 snakes, 1 corn snake, 1 baby coastal x jungle carpet python and 3 amazon tree boas, i love my lil carpet python!

  • u can feed them small mice but its no good they get adicted to them i had to feed mine a small mouse when they were out of rat fuzzies

  • nice snake really active and looks really tame :) i just have one question about feeding in the seperate container after the snake has finished feeding what is the best way to get the snake back into its viv ??

  • can feed them mice insted of rats?

  • hahah ''CAN EAT YOUR DOOG'' ahah funny and great vid getting on for x-mas

  • i can tell you love panda bears

  • i love carpets dude, i currently have 10 of em........how much did u pay for ur jungle

  • How long did it take to become tame? Or is that just the snakes character?

  • great vid

  • Great video and nice jungle check out my vids I subbed

  • What's with the pandas? Hehe! But do you have any breeding plans?

  • do you like pandas by any chance?

  • slayer!!!!

  • Could you put more than one coastal carpet python in the same tank if one is a little bit smaller than another?

  • @brendanval no no no no... they could eat each other. and if not then they will stress each other to no end. Plus you would need a HUGE tank to even attempt that. If you put them both in a smaller tank they will be stressed out..

  • Cool man my ball pythons name is slayer also after the band.

  • im buying a jungle tmrw for 50$ i think this guy is hard up for cash!i hope its health is good

  • i like how active and curious carpets are. cool snake. much smarter seeming than my darling sand boa! haha

  • SLAYAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR lol

  • Good vid, lovely snake

  • Hey buddy great video, so nice to see our beautiful native snakes being shared all over the world :D

One thing though, I'm not sure if i agree about the feeding tub thing, cause if that was the way they thought, then how does the snake distinguish between holding time and when you're gonna grab him out for a feed.I really don't think snakes have that kind of thought process going on, dont get me wrong it will help with avoiding compaction. Great vid anyway mate! :_)

  • Great snake!

  • beautiful snake man! i have a 6 footer, most docile snake i have ever owned

  • Hi, whats the ideal cage size for a fully grown carpet python?

  • And jungle carpets like the one you have are endemic to Australia

  • You're right there's only one type of python that inhabits deserts in Australia

  • i think its beast how this guy is adult and still looks like a boss and posts vid

  • Hey how much on average will it coast for everything including the snake and the heating but not the tank. So how

Much does it coast on average with the snake and things that you need to buy buy not including the inclosure

  • $25 for the light fixture

    $20 for the light bulb

    $35 for a heat pad

    $20 for the hide

$20 for appropriate size water dish

    $9 for substrate

  • Finally enjoying your carpet python...Priceless.

  • @MultiReptiles at an expo i got a carpet python for 85 from BHB and someone was selling a cage with everything for 125 so it costed me 210

  • Could you keep one in a tub?

  • @HamboneV1; If you had the correct heat, substrate and a hide sure you could, but you snake isn't going to be very comfortable. I also wouldn't use that kind of enclosure for any longer than a week. If you're thinking about getting any snake, you really should have proper enclosure. You could live in a 4' ft by 10' ft cell all your life, but it wouldn't be right, nor would you be happy.

  • @trtlpmp Ya i tottaly agree you should only keep ball python, blood pythons, boas in a tub just because they need more humidity. you should put him in a cage about 20 long for baby 40 gal for jeuvanile and 75 to 80 gal for adult but maybe for an adult u can put it in a 40 breeder because of the width

  • @trtlpmp yet thats what most big breeders use

  • @HamboneV1 @trtlpmp Ya i tottaly agree with trtlpmp you should only keep ball python, blood pythons, boas in a tub just because they need more humidity. you should put him in a cage about 20 long for baby 40 gal for jeuvanile and 75 to 80 gal for adult but maybe for an adult u can put it in a 40 breeder because of the width

  • @HamboneV1 you could keep it in an appropriatly sized tub for ever they dont need a cage or anything like that to be " happy " they actually prefer a smaller tub compared to a larger tank

  • @HamboneV1 It really depends on what size tub you have. A lot of carpet python breeders use the 74 quart tubs which are about 44"x19"

  • i have a 3x2x2 LxDxH

  • Are you using it for anything?

  • Morelia is a great group of snakes and one of my favorites. I'm supposed to be getting a bigger female/male (not sure what the sex is yet) tomorrow. I'll have to do a temporary set up too until i find a cheap dresser i can build on. Good video though man.

  • @SCherper, Thanks dude.

  • will it get much bigger around?

  • Hi crownviclvr, yes he will. About the size of a soda can +/-.

  • Can u do a update on your carpet python. Only if he has grown at all.

  • AustMan22, I don't believe my jungle carpet python Slayer has really gotten any bigger since I've posted this video, but I will be doing another video of him when I put him in his new enclosure. Thanks for the post.

  • Thanks for the video and awesome jungle :D

Quick question: how long do you leave him in the feeding tub (after he's eaten) before putting him back in his enclosure? I've read not to handle them after feeding but they can't stay in the tub forever!

  • That's a great question. I typically wait about 20 to 30 minutes AFTER a snake has consumed its food before I take them out. I do this for 2 reasons, 1) It gives the snake a little time to calm down after eating and 2) it gives them a chance to get down in their belly. Especially with carpet pythons I always take them out with the snake hook because their feeding response is so strong. With other snakes I just use my hand, but still give them time to ingest the food item.

  • @trtlpmp Ok kool - thanks for the reply. I should probably go and buy a snake hook now :D

  • Thanks for this vid, Ive been asked to take on a rescue carpet python it has scars where the old owner had let it wrap around the basking light.

  • If you're up for the task I say go for it. However you might want to take him to your local reptile store or vet first, just to give him a quick look over to make sure nothing else is wrong with him. Especially with this type of snake, if you're going to have a heat light inside the enclosure, it MUST have a cage around it for that exact reason. If you don't have one, or can't find one, put the snake in a screen top tank. Thanks for the question, I hope this helps.

  • Thanks a heap for the video its helped a tonne. odds are this is the type of python i'll end up getting as im pretty sure ball pythons are not legal here in Australia. still have alot more reading to do before i commit to owning a snake though.

  • Morgathing, thanks for the post. I'm glad you like the video. Keep reading, it really is the best way to find out correct information on the type of snake you end up getting. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Nice job on the video. I have been doing lots of reading on snakes and I have it narrowed down to a Corn Snake or a Jaya Carpet Python as being my first snake. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind on cage you end up making for your python.

  • Glad you like the video. Corn snakes are cool to have too. I have a pair that I breed every season. They're real easy to care for and very shy to bite, however I have been bitten once, but it was due to a feeding response, (my bad). I'll do the video on building the cage sometime after the new year. Thanks for the post.

  • i started my coastal out on a big branch in my hands on my lap and let him drop, strike his food and wrap it and pull it up and this really helps them with dexterity and strengthens their muscle mass. They love to climb around on branches. Your video has good information and I totally support trying to discourage people from feeding live for the health and beauty of the snakes.

  • Slayer is absolutely gorgeous!!! Beautiful Jungle Carpet !!! My Coastal is two years old and is on his way to ten feet and they for sure can initiate some powerful snake hugs. Carpets love physical stimulation and especially visual stimulation and are very alert and aware of their environment. Great snakes and a wonderful learning experience. Very nice video and content !!! Being Semi-Aboreals they love being up on perches and are seldom on the ground and prefer to eat from an upper perch.

  • @1softkiss What type of visual stimulation do they seem to like most?

  • @trtlpmp Mine loves being outdoors and watching birds fly around and anything that moves gets his constant attention and he stands tall to watch things around him moving. He loves days there is a light wind blowing so he can see things moving more and pick up more scents in the air. He loves to perch wrapped around my knee and will stare at the television for hours on end occasionally he extends himself toward the t.v. when something moves fast. These are good for enhancing their hunting skills
