@triggerHappyLunatics ...cont'd... my neighbor recently got in a deer lease up in north Louisiana. Although they're very restrictive as to how many guests are allowed to hunt deer, they welcome as many as possible to kill feral hogs. I'm planning to start going soon to shoot hogs with my 1895CB. I'll let you know how that works out.

@mabroussardii Oh man that sounds fun. But yea ammo is expensive for .45-70 unfortunately I want to try those Garett cartridges as well but I really want to start reloading as I have a lot of brass and want to make some really hot loads and some lighter ones as well.

@TriggerHappyLunatics ...cont'd... I shot a few Remington 405 gr and Buffalo Bore 350 gr and didn't notice much difference in recoil. Maybe I might have if I shot a couple boxes of each, but that ain't cheap to do. I do plan to buy one box of Garret Cartridges' 540-gr SuperHardCast Hammerhead at 1550-fps, just in case my neighbor's cats start giving me problems...

@TriggerHappyLunatics I really like my Marlin 1895CB. I've wanted one for years and bought this one two years ago. Haven't had much opportunity to shoot it. I don't live out in the sticks anymore. It's lighter in weight than I expected (I have an original Winchester Model 1873 in .44 WCF that is about 1.5 pounds heavier)...
