i have been stung like 4 times during cleaning. (all my fault btw) 3 by the lion (mombasa) and once by a foxface (one spot). luckily im not allergic to the sting so i just flush it out with hot water and im good to go. It does hurt like a bitch though. The foxface hurts even more but even then if your not allergic to it its not really so deadly as people make it seem in my opinion. Overall yes it hurts like a bitch for a bit lol.
@f0rTyLeGz C'mon now, the guy who put up this video is not responsible for all that disaster! I sure that every video on youtube could be associated with some kind of problem in the world. Unless the poster of this video is supporting the degradation of aquatic ecosystems, just be cool.
When i went scuba diving my instructor gave me an harpoon and i killed 11 of this shitty fishes. The reason this is legal is because they reproduced and they havent got any predator
@balistic9911 you can put them with other fish, just make sure the fish is bigger than the lionfishes mouth because they ALWAYS eat their food whole (as in this video) also, do you know that are a saltwater fish?? saltwater tanks are alot more expensive.. to get a lionfish, with the tank and all, will be about 700, plus the cost of a professional to set it up (if you want the salt water done right, it'll make your fish live longer and healthier)
@XONation the spines are venomous. Even once they fall off they still hold their venom.. You have to have a pretty bad reaction to die from it but it will hurt like all hell if you get pricked.. Ultimately if you're planning on having one as a pet it should really be kept in a species only tank and a tank that is much larger than the one Captain Picards was(or should I say will be as it is set in the future?) kept in.
if its true then that's beast but I'm not convinced (not that you're obliged to convince me) i don't have much faith in people over the internet who don't have a shred of proof :P btw how did you find out!? did you tough one without knowing?
hmmm just typed in 'immune to lionfish' and 'human immune to lionfish' etc... and the only result to do with people being immune was a link to this page...
I am immune to lionfish. 100% serious. I have touched wild lionfish on spines. I have even tested this on one in aquarium.
I seem to have an immunity to their venom.
If any scientists wish to study my blood or get a sample let me know, maybe I have something in DNA? Message me. I would like to create counteractive meds for their poison.
@agenthelios1 sry mate but lion fish arent deadly venomous there sting simply hurts like hell its as if you were immune to wasp sting. but the fact that you are immune to lion fish venom is cool when you can bet with people ; )
@MaxJNorman No bullshit. I had video posted on my channel, but you tube messaged and said it was "inapropriate" I guess because they felt that others would think they can touch them, then get hurt. I posted the video twice and it was removed twice by YouTube(and community )
@MsHenryTheGreat No luck. Maye people think its a joke. I even posted a video on my channel of me touching a lionfish with my barehands and people kept saying it was a fake fish and all these ridiculous allegations because they knew damn well it was real. I even had video of that same fish eating another tank mate, so how can a "fake fish" eat another one?
@killerline012 Lionfish do best in larger tanks such as 70+ gallons but you can keep certain kinds of lion fish such as dwarfs including the infamous fu-man-chu lion in 30+ gallons. You can keep a lion like the one in the video in a 55 gallon as long as you have a very good filtration system.
I had a dragonfish that ate all my tigers. But when he tried to eat my beta fish, he got a big suprise. But then we had to move, so we put the fishies into a river. D:
@Computergeew Don't do that again. If you must get rid of pet fish, either give them to a pet store or kill them.
Depending on the fish, releasing aquarium fish into habitats that aren't their native places would either kill them or create an invasive species problem. Not to mention, there are federal laws against stuff like this and you could be fined heavily if caught.
I know that. I didnt ment a natural river, is somthing for the neiborhood. In my neiborhood, there is these stone "Rivers" flowing on our backyard. At the end of it is a pond, with multiple fishes in it. The fishes were from alot of us back here. Also its been used for fishes that is not wanted anymore, or donation. Other kids can buy from that pond. Volunteers clean, and care for the fishes every day. I dont even live next to a state with a river! I just donate fishes when i dont want them.

extremely dangerous rofl like my dad had a few of these and got attacked once his arm blew up like a hot dog on grill for to long lol and had to go to hospital dangerous.
i mean towards other fish...when u get stung by a bee it doesnt hurt because u are so much bigger than it imagine being the same size or smaller. samething for lion fish
About four hours ago, i got a black lionfish called Kilky but it is acting really wierdly, floating about and not doing anything. is there something wrong or is it just getting used to it's new surroundings?
Sorry i forgot to add that you cant keep a voltian lion fish like this one in a tank less than 75 gallons. So Dwarf lionfish are a much better option and are very hardy but they only grow to about 7 inches. please comment if you wish but if you want to ask a question post a reply so i know you have commented.
Dwarf Lionfish can be kept on their own in 22gallon tanks but if you wish to keep them with larger speicies then it has to be a 30 gallon or more. If you want to keep one in a 2o or 22 gallon then find one or two fish that are about the same size as it so no fighting or eating goes on. Make sure if you want to purchase a lionfish that you are ready to feed it live SALTWATER feeder fish(freshwater feeder fish can be harmful to their liver) it may take them two months to take dead meat.
well, at least it doesnt make the other fishy suffer like the parannas, they just fucking tear there prey apart and then leave for a bit, while the food is still half alive trying in vain to escape...
