All the instruments are beautifully played on the album "New Gold Dream" - the production was perfect. Pete walsh did a very good job with them. I always thought they should have gone to Trevor Horn with the next album "Sparkle in the rain" - he would have made that sound much more alluring and mysterious and it would have been a very natural progression from "New Gold Dream" - sigh. We can only dream.
I love this song too. what a great album, I was born too late. I got to hear this wonderful album in 1992 when I was 15. Ten years too late. I'm 32 now and I still love it. Thanks for putting it on you tube
I think simple minds are in a different league creatively than U2 and some of the other so called dinosaur bands. The layered synth, guitars&bass were much more intricately crafted..esp on this album.I would say they were more similar to bands like Japan&Tears for Fears during this stage of their careers..Fabulous!
When this album came it wasnt this song you listened to the most, but today as a super SM fan this just grows and its like finding a hidden treasure, if somebody made it today it would probably be a major hit love it !!!
One of the best driving songs ever. Sounds great with the windows down on a sunny day played through a decent system so you can feel the awesome bassline.
Everything that U2FAN1992 said and more, this is just as shit hot as it was the day I bought the LP the day it was released, wore the bugger out and had to buy another copy 2 months later.
The bass line was inspirational in my learning the play bass. I have fond memories accompanying 'The Minds' on this track. They produced fantastic albums and were even better live. From a massive Simple Minds fan.
Simple Minds at their best!!j was 14 and new gold dream was really the New gold dream!!..anyway probably simple minds are a little bit underestimated ..especially cause they're a great live band ...also today!!ps j apologize 4 my english!!Cheers from italy
Simple minds isnt simple minds without Derek

Also my favourite S.M. song, one of the best album tracks ever. Kind of Led Zeppelin transposed to another genre. Quite mesmerising.
In retrospect, Simple Minds was partly about great bass. (So was Level 42.)

I love this song, don't have a live clip to this but have heard the live versions... have to say, the live version is just not as good...
Still is a must hear for any fan, bought an old live concert from New Jersey at e-bay.
