The Lupicon Cree's plight resulting from the tarsands and how our government deals with "collateral damageis is the canary in the coal mine. My deepest concern is for our lives, our land our water, our air, our health, our rights, our future. Beyond the media and rhetoric, the actual impact vs. reward of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline will be a catastrophe. (12 leaks in 12 months). Recent protests have begun to bring this terror to light. Finally.
If this protest was really about oil, then why didn't these protesters protest outside of the Saudi Arabian embassy, which is only a few blocks from parliament hill?
Most of these protesters were foreign, if sources are true, and many are greenpeace backers = criminals in other words.
@albertabeefcowboy84@albertabeefcowboy84 dude, the protest was about the tar sands in Canada thats causing major harm and damage to the environment as well as increasing cancer rates and other diseases. If you want more info go to go2o (dot) ca If you dont care, well thats up to you man.
Thanks for answering my question. You claim that because of the oilsands only, cancer rates are increasing worldwide? LOL, proof, please. Second, that website has no merit because it is a blog site and unless the person has a degree in earth science or something similar, then it is strictly an opinion piece. Now I have one question for everyone who was protesting. What possible alternative energy can we use in place of oil at this time?
@albertabeefcowboy84 Anything renewable ie wind, tidal, solar, micro hydro etc. The technology has been proven in many different applications in many different countries. Farmers have used windmills and micro hydro for hundreds of yrs, thousands of Ontarians are grid tied with Microfit solar. Big oil works to discourage this because it affects their revenue. We're in a revolution right now where we are no longer ignorant as to the costs of our stupidity. Join, or move out of the way pilon.
The rising rates of cancer in mice who live on or near the oilsands maybe. Your argument is retarded and there is no proof about the oilsands causing increasing cancer rates. I agree with you, to a degree, on environmental damage and threats.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Your logic is flawed. It is not because we call someone names that they are neither unjust nor true. It is not because someone backs greenpeace they are a lawbreaker. Keep your Red Herring weaksauce tactics to yourself and leave the arguments for dignified adult minds.
Greenpeace regularly breaks the law and they are a very rich multinational corporation and are backed by other companies who have made millions by lying to the public about global warming being caused by humans. Dignified adult minds leave you out of the discussion as well. I can't say I am surprised by this liberal-themed hypocrisy
@albertabeefcowboy84 To call all greenpeacers or those likeminded in some of their endeavors is the same kind of generalized thinking that set races of people generations behind the white man and hushed intelligent women into the kitchen out of the vote. Many good companies and good people may have interacted with those who have done evil; this does not necessarily make THEM evil.
No, it doesn't make them evil, but since these companies never make themselves known, its a moot point. I have worked for green energy companies in the past, and yes they do great things, but Greenpeace has come under fire lately for a lot of things they should have done differently. Actions do speak louder than words.
@albertabeefcowboy84 You need to look up the educational definition of a red herring. How do their finances concern you or anyone else? Please tell me why you think global warming is not anthropologically driven. I would like to hear why thousands of peer respected educational materials disagree with one cowboy. Just do your own damn research for your own damn good.
Because I am paying for it. Maybe you don't own property, or a car, or anything but I do and want to know how much of my taxes are going to go up paying for this. There is no fundamental proof that global warming is caused by humans. The earth goes through natural heating and cooling periods and we are obviously in a heating one.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Well sure, if you have skills for avoiding proof, then there is no proof. Other than that, it's out there. You really need to learn the facts; you just seem to not GET thinking or learning or anything I've said. I give up on people like yourself who are unwilling to learn for themselves. It's truly sad to see someone so content not to learn life truths. Convenience is no reason to not think. I will be blocking any such messages. Sad to see people like you not think.
Like I said, I have over 40 years of research here regarding the oilsands. You are the one with skills for avoiding proof as I have asked for it more than once and you have not provided ANY. You haven't said anything with any kind of authority or proof, so why should I believe it? Hypocritical much? Where is this supposed proof that oil causes cancer? Where is the proof that sufficient alternative energy means exist to replace oil and all things we make from it?
@albertabeefcowboy84 And not without reason. I am an environemental studies student who doesn't invest his valuable time with people who refuse to help themselves. You have arms, legs, computer access and the capacity to use google and a library. You do not seem open to learning, nor do you refrain from namecalling. As a result, you are on your own. After all, it is in your OWN best interest to research for YOURSELF, as I have no reason to believe my time is well spent here. Just 2 cents.
You are 30 years old and should realize that it doesn't work that way. You should get out more, and realize that if you are proving a point, EVIDENCE is needed. You site the argument, you provide the proof, that's the way it goes. As I said, I have researched this for years so in essence I am extremely open to learning and not believing what some else says is really only for extremely naive people.
I don't refuse to help myself. I have spent countless hours researching this topic and if you want to actually pass your program, I suggest you talk to industry leaders and find out exactly what's going on instead of believing random people that protest just for the hell of it, and in reality, know nothing. Young people such as you are typically the first to throw trash out on the ground, smoke, and generally mess up the environment. I do so love irony.
I can teach you a few things about the environment. My home is one of the environmentally friendliest in the Ottawa area. I don't really drive anywhere, I typically just walk or bike. My house is heated by my greenhouse. I have solar panels on my roof which heat my hot water tank. I use low flow toilets, I use LCD lighting throughout my house. I grow much of my own food. I have 3 compost bins and I don't have much use for garbage cans since I don't produce a lot of it. Need I go on?

Hypocritical much? I have asked you repeatedly for proof in regards to oil causing cancer and that there is sufficient alternative energy means in place right now to replace oil and everything we make from it. You have not proven any facet of your argument here. I have my proof, where's yours? Like I said, I have over 40 years of facts about the oilsands right here, so where are the life truths you apparently told me?
They disagree because they are either a) written by buffoons who don't have a degree in environmental studies and therefore it is only an opinion piece, which is not proven fact b) written by union members in a green energy company who want more funding through higher taxes.
I have done my own damn research and this research stems from someone who has worked for Environment Canada with regards to Energy Mines and Resources. He has more knowledge than any protester or poster here.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Let me remind u that Greenpeace is a mostly volunteer based organization. Not to forget to mention I have yet to c Greenpeace or any other environmental organization on the fortune 500 list yet I see countless oil companies. This renders ur argument bout Greenpeace being a rich company moot. Do u really expect anyone to fight the biggest & richest industry on the face of the planet with a couple of pennies?
I said millions of dollars not billions. Second, what does it matter if Greenpeace is not a fortune 500 company? "This renders ur argument bout Greenpeace being a rich company moot. " Not really, it just depends on how you define "rich." Obviously your definition of it is different than mine. Third, China's and Saudi Arabia's environmental programs are virtually non-existent and yet you don't hear a peep from Greenpeace regarding them. Funny, right? And extremely fishy.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Regardless of how much Greenpeace makes it doesnt change the fact that they r going up against the single biggest and richest industry on the planet. Im sorry but fighting them is gonna require money. & btw u do hear about places like china and japan, about separate issues like shark fining and the dolphin slaughter.. If ur solely looking at the attacking others on oil then no, Greenpeaces mandate includes a wide variety of things
@albertabeefcowboy84 If ur gonna talk bout Greenpeace id suggest doing a lil research on them and their different campaigns. Right now it just sounds like ur spouting out things u heard the Cons say on TV. Do urself a favor & dont take everything they say at face value, do research, take several different sources then come to a logical conclusion. If 1 thing is true is that the Cons lie bout EVERYTHING
Uh, no. I follow Greenpeace and most environmental issues almost religiously. If you think the CONS lie about everything then the LIBS for you must be less than worthless because they haven't delivered a single promise in 40 years.
@albertabeefcowboy84 LOL im not really a Libs man either, to be frank I dont trust any of our politicians. Doesnt change the fact that the Cons r the worst of the worse. Regardless of where Greenpeace has their mandate, we need environmental organizations fighting the battle in every corner of the Earth. Greenpeace may mostly do stuff in North America & Europe but they r still doing a lot to help out the cause. To be honest the battle will always start at home 1st
I don't really either but I trust the cons more than the libs. Don't agree with you that the cons are the worse of the worse, I'd rather have a con in power than ANY lib. However, I do agree with ya with environmental organizations fighting the battle; although not necessarily Greenpeace. See one of my earlier posts to donsjuand. I am doing my part to leave as small a carbon footprint as possible. I hope all people go through the lengths I do, otherwise, its all for naught.

@albertabeefcowboy84 Because the parliament is of national significance. To affect change in the world, one must have affected personal change in his backyard first. Alternative energies have been around for hundreds of years. There is no question of can it work. The questions are of logistics and finance for those respective experts once endeavored, due to specific requirements.
You act as if any of the protests that Ottawa has had ANY positive effect whatsoever on ANYTHING. All protests are doing to the citizens of Ottawa is pissing them off and causing them stress. THAT causes cancer by the way.
@albertabeefcowboy84 It had my friends and I happy to see. It also gathered people from different cultures and generations to share in an important event together. It also taught uknowing members of public that the pipeline may leak oil into one of the world's largest freshwater sources. Anything you can argue, I can argue better. And I don't care too much about my taxes because money is not important to me. I have a greater value for a healthy earth, life and love. Now go do MORE research
You cannot outargue me considering I have PROVEN FACTS at my disposal and you have..according to your recent post, a happy happy sit in with members of the public who obviously are on welfare since they had the time to do nothing and hold hands and sings song about something that hasn't happened yet. You obviously own no property, have no house, no car and a bum on the street who somehow has access to a computer. I have over 40 years of research here regarding the oilsands.
You are a born again hippy, nothing more. YOU go do some more research and go smoke some more bongs, you are clearly not smoking enough. You want to clean up the environment, ban smoking outright, everywhere for everyone. Go do ANY research since you lack the intelligence to really understand what no oil would mean. We need it now, we may not in the future. Not to mention that the oilsands provide jobs for thousands of people and is the no.1 reason why Canada is not in deeper debt.
The arguments for oil only come down to jobs. Jobs can be had by many capacities.
