i'm a 15 years old boy who started judo a month ago and my dream is to be a good mma figher or if i an get better than i would love to join the olypic sports.
@alphie10 I've never asked him he's rank as It is impolite to ask somone of higher rank what dan they have, even though I'm sure he would tell me and woldn't mind my asking, I like to be polite. I do however know that he has been doing judo for roughly a decade, I'm not one hundred percent sure how old he is, but I know he is in he's early 60s so he has been doing judo for roughly a decade.
@farorin Oh, and I realised I repeated some stuff and screwed that post up a bit, hahaha, I guess that is what happens when you go back to re-word or add something and then forget what you were doing :P
@farorin its not im polite to ask he's ur sensei so he wudnt mind and wow only 7 years :O its the first time i hear that my sensei has been doin judo for 33 years and is 6 dan and my second sensei is 4th dan and hes been doin it for 15 years
@alphie10 Traditionally, in japanese martial arts culture, you are not supposed to ask a blackbelt what dan rank they have. I personally like to keep to tradition, regardless to the fact that my sensei is very easy going. Also, its not a competition you tool, I also have more than one sensei, but he is my original sensei, and has helped me personally the most.
@farorin i never asked my sensei wat rank he was till one day he was telling me hw he taught former olympic champions then i asked wat rank is he and he told me he was 6th dan
To the young man that says he started Judo too late at the age of 17, I'm 32 and started about 6 months ago to compliment my BJJ and wrestling. I train with guys who just started at 40.
@Thelee456 That's nothing I'm 41 and just started taking up Judo a few days, but then again I've been in martial arts most of my life. I've done karate (which isn't that great) for a long time, then took up Pankration (a MMA ) so much more useful. I just took up Judo now to add to my MMA.
I started judo at age 19 and my brother a 30, and 3 years later, we're both Green Belts. I choked out my first opponent, and he was Brown Belt. And I made randori with an old man, and fought really well. Judo was designed to be a universal martial art/sport that anyone at any age, sex, fitness level and with any physical handicap (including blindness) could practice.
@Thelee456 hey man Jigaro Kano the founder of judo started doing jujustu when he was seventeen years old, so think of u starting at the perfect age where u can fully grasp every concept XD
