This is quite an easy piece. I am surprised that she decided to play it for an international contest. Anyway, Katariina plays quite well for a first time with an orchestra. Her body language is conveying she is quite nervous, but I barely affects her playing. All in all, i would her performance a 7 out of 10. Good job!
yes, its is true, but it was a competition and her first performance of the piece. you could watch the other performances she made later - they are much more free :)
It is true she has many mistakes, but we must not forget, this was the first time she played the piece and did it with the orchestra which makes it even more difficult. It was also a competition were the nerves are on a big test, especially for emotional persons. But I am sure that she overcame these problems during next performances which I also put on Tube.
@Jekatherina impressive. Im doing this for my honor band tryout in where im living. I want to know how to stop those mistakes(and some that i get) whenever i play this piece.
i really do not like it!! the orchestra is bad!! especially this girl in the 1violin second place!!! and the 13year old girl who´s playin the solopart is bad to..sorry but i´m studying music and play the violin too..she has to exercise her bow hand..you know sometimes there´s a krrrrrrr..and she has to play WITH the orchestra ..she´s definitly too qickly!! sorry but it´s the truth
i really don´t like it..the orchestra is badly..specially this girl in the first violin second place!!..and the soloviolin doesn´t play with them..she´s too qickly!! and she has to exercise her bow hand..sometimes there´s a krrrrrr..you know..i wouldn´t give the 2nd prize to her and the orchestra
i don´t think so..i know he´s 13 but the orchestra is badly and she doesn´t play really with them..she plays more quickly than the others..and she has to exercise her bow hand..sometimes there´s a krrrrrrr..you know..i don´t like it..and the 2nd prize..i wouldn´t give it to her and this orchestra!! sorry
What a beautiful sound you have! Your understanding of this wonderful work is profound for someone so young. The conductor's tempo is good, but sometimes you rush a little. It is hard to fight the orchestra's energy, but if you always practice precisely--never too quickly--you will relax in the tempo while not giving up intensity. I am so grateful for your recording--an inspiration for my son's study of this piece... May you always love to play, and do it well! Thanks for posting...
At the moment there isn't any exceptionally favorite. There are some interpretations of some pieces which I love enormously. II Movement of Kabalevsky Violin Concerto played by David Oistrach. Brahms whole Violin Concerto and Bach's Chaconne played by Henryk Szeryng. And - every time when I am moved by something played in radio it turnes out to be Maxim Vengerov. :)))
Which is your favorite violin concerto, you like Brahms, which do you prefer Brahms or Tchaikovsky? I like tchaikovsky, which interpretation of tchaikovsky do you like the best, Oistrakh, Menuhin, Heifetz, Gitlis? You must listen to Tchaikovsky's 3rd mov by Gerhard Taschner.
Intonations so clear it's piercing!

Timing wise she doesn't seem to feel the rhythm very well. From a playing perspective, it's an extremely mature tone for someone of that age.

great sound and the candenza was spot on but she is a bit stiff and needs to loosen up a bit and it is really affecting her vibrato

Sounds wonderful. Anyone that feels the need to criticize is just bitter that they cannot play this beautifully at this age.
